1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment size on: December 09, 2017, 03:12:03 PM
Since we don’t personally know each other here and therefore nothing to hide, I figured I’d ask the following...how much have you invested in crypto currencies? I’ll start...$5000 all within last month.

I've invested $5000 originally about 6 months ago, now I buy and sell for 10-20k a month in ICOs or undervalued coins.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can Bitcoin be ban? on: December 09, 2017, 03:10:32 PM
It can be banned but such a ban would never be effective since it is decentralised. At best it could wreck havoc on the prices of bitcoin by closing down the main exchanges but it would always continue to function beneath the surface.
3  Economy / Gambling / Re: How many of these sites are legal? on: December 09, 2017, 03:07:21 PM
You know, have the correct licenses, etc.  Just curious.

The biggest ones, often requiring identification too, are mostly legal.
The vast majority of the smaller ones definitely aren't though and with a good reason: It's way too much work for a small casino!

Cryptocurrencies especially make it easy to avoid going through the legal work.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How we can increase our income by investing in altcoins? on: September 26, 2017, 06:24:39 PM
Coins with the biggest hype will always earn you a nice income. In crypto hype means more than the product they deliver, at least in the short term.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar for ICOs on: August 04, 2017, 05:24:50 AM
I'm sure it will create hype but it will need a lot more than a single ICO to pump big,  and that ICO might not even succeed.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if someone sends Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin address? on: August 04, 2017, 05:23:28 AM
Everyone here in the previous comments are clueless, bitcoin cash and bitcoin use the exact same private keys so if you sent bitcoin cash to a bitcoin address the owner of that bitcoin address can claim it on a bitcoin cash wallet by loading up their private key.

In other words you lose nothing.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coin price alerts/notifications? on: August 04, 2017, 05:18:31 AM
You can also use one called blockfolio. But do we be careful I think some of these apps inc blockfolio use the information you put in. Knowing that can help prior can help protect you. Maybe a pay for one is better and actually protects your privacy fully.

Blockfolio is amazing and gives you real time updates on the price of all your coins and the market value and lets you set alerts for price thresholds as well.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Bitcoin Cash on: August 04, 2017, 05:16:23 AM

What do you think of Bitcoin Cash?

Do you think it will have the same value as Bitcoin or it will be just another Alt. Coin in the crypto market?

This question is anywats obsolete now as we can see bitcoin cash ended up with dust and dirt. Yes bitcoin cash is now another altcoin and it is being dumped like very bad in the market. This was already predicted that bitcoin cash when given in free way it will be sold right away it gets available on the exchanges. This led to devaluation of the BCC  and that's the whole story of this altcoin.

The story still does not end there, seeing almost all exchangers put a bch on their list, maybe there is no physical function of the bch, but if the trader's awareness of the exchange rate bch far outperformed the widely applicable eth it is certain this coin will remain at the current level, we will still see the next bch positive boom in the near future.

The more exchanges that open up deposits and credit their users the more people will dump and the more the price will crash. BCH only had a chance as long as few exchanges listed it.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you dumped your BCC yet? on: August 04, 2017, 05:15:01 AM
I kept my coins on bittrex before the fork and had them already credited there so easy to buy/sell them. I chose to dump all my coins because I don't see the long term viability of BCC.
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fear Of August 1st on: August 04, 2017, 05:13:25 AM
Fear smells just like money.  Wink
Cool! I will agree with you. August 1st is something that should be cherished rather than feared. I don’t know why people are too much afraid of this. August 1st is going to make bitcoins more important and valuable than ever. Bitcoins are definitely taking ride to moon in the coming months.
You are right, this will turn to a more formidable Bitcoin in the long run, though people can't help but panic at times like this because there is actually possibility of losing money or drop in value especially those not having very deep pockets.

August 1 didn't give too much impact on BItcoin Price which is in contrary to many users here speculation. Besides that, BTC price keeps strong and never out of range of 2600$ below.

Yup, volatility was disappointing considering the August 1st predictions. However, I don't think we are out of the woods yet. I don't think the major fundamental threat was BIP148/BIP91 nor Bcash.

I think the major fundamental threat is the Segwit8x fork in November. That has the backing of many major Bitcoin companies, exchanges and miners. They have a lot of marketing power. So I think this could cause a real network split in November, which could have lasting implications. And this is also a reason for market uncertainty now.

Segwit8x? You mean Segwit2x right? As far as I understand the new york agreement has backing of 85% of the hash power so it should be stable and I don't think anyone wants further chain splits after bitcoin cash.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Everybody moving their coins from Poloniex to Bittrex!!? on: August 04, 2017, 04:24:46 AM
I don't believe Poloniex is going down but their service sure does suck which is why I moved to Bittrex.

I guess whether you believe they are going down or just plain hate their service you will probably move your coins.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: R.I.P Ethereum - The Pre-Mined ScamCoin is dead on: July 30, 2017, 10:23:47 PM
hahaha... all those haters trying to get ETH down. Sorry guys, but ETH demand is rising, and so is the price. Look at all the projects being run on the ETH chain, do you think they will just vanish?

Hatred or love in this case do not matter, it's just emotions. In investments, common sense is important. And sober analysis. Many people are now trying to invest in the crypto currency, but they are newcomers ... And the second half, these are experienced speculators, they do not live by ideas, profit is important to them. When they take the money from the newcomers, they will choose another tool ....

99% ICO is useless projects ... Grin Grin Grin
$1.3 billion has been invested in ICO’s.

And there are loads of scams and useless projects sure but its not like a billion dollars was wasted on nothing.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: July 30, 2017, 09:38:09 PM
And if you dump, Roger/Wu/Wright will attack your coins like mad dogs and they'll have the majority of the shares of this  new chain.

Doesn't the minner have all the power in this chain? A 51% attack is there much easier to perform.

By "attacking", I mean they'll buy your coins gratefully from your hands to increase their shares. When own the majority of the bcashes, if they pump their coin artificially, it will be them making money. Not you, or anybody who instadumped. And many clueless people will fall for that fake pump.

I believe the point he was trying to make is that with little mining power BCC will be so easy for a group of miners to kill by double spend attacks.

The reality is that BCC isn't going to be very secure.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Btc and altcoins after segwit on: July 30, 2017, 09:33:54 PM
Even though I support Bitcoin Cash over Bitcoin Segwit, I know that Bitcoin Cash will be the lesser chain until maybe November.  If Bitcoin Segwit does not activate 2MB blocks in Nov, then there is a really good chance that Bitcoin Cash will become the real chain.

When was the last time when u actually bought smth with BTC? Users are defecting to fiat money because of long transactions and draconic fees. Segwit won't do shit about this, and u know it, and evveryone knows it, BTC is going down, cause of callousness of Core.

What do you mean, the point of segwit is just that to reduce fees and enable side chain solutions that will make bitcoin infinitely scalable. Bigger blocks cannot achieve this alone.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: What don't you like about Banks and Banks controlling your money on: July 30, 2017, 09:30:12 PM
But other than gaining interests from bank, I am not finding any big advantages of using bank accounts to have our wealth with them. In this modern era, we are all thinking about having secured and fully privacy assure way of financial system so that we can safeguard ourselves from robber, for example.

You talk about safeguarding from robbers but that is exactly what banks offer. Even if due to your own negligence someone fraudulently gets money from your account the bank will refund you. There is no digital currency that protects your money better than that.

The main advantage is obviously privacy though, banks do not really offer any form of privacy.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ICO Coming Soon : FraudTokens get Fraud Coins after ICO on: July 30, 2017, 09:27:01 PM

I will be creating FraudCoin = An Honest Coin  Grin

So many of these already, it's not a new concept. Best of luck anyway in your project.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The real crash starts after Aug 1st on: July 29, 2017, 07:47:07 PM
One thing is for sure, if BTC value goes down hedging in alts will not save you. The loss will be magnified.

And conversely if BTC value goes up due to the uncertainty around it being resolved going into alts could multiply those gains several times.

I don't believe in a crash come August.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] WCX – Low-Cost Crypto Exchange built by Apple & Wall St team on: July 29, 2017, 07:37:22 PM
If you have a team from Apple, IBM and Deutsche Bank I can't really understand why you don't simply go and hire professional translators. needless to say community translations from amateur translators are often lousy. a little harsh to say but we should not accept average if we're trying to stop putting up with lousy exchanges here! not?

what's the hard cap of WCX ever to be created in total ?

Lol you're on a cryptocurrency forum and you're saying community effort sucks? you realize BTC and virtually every other crypo were built thanks to community effort.

Language and translation is like software code, if first version is not good, community contributors come in and make improvement. Often the final version is much better than what any one pro translator can do.

No community won't do better than a professional translator, but community involvement fosters good will towards the community which in turn helps get funding from people.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The Biggest Publicity Campaign For an Altcoin This Year is HERE!!! on: July 29, 2017, 07:36:08 PM
I have a hard time believing that such an unprofessional announcement would be from a team that hs over $8M nor that they would disrupt anything.

But I hope you can prove me wrong, scepticism is important these days of ICO scams.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HERE IS HOW THE FORK WILL HAPPEN. on: July 29, 2017, 07:30:15 PM
- snip -
Need to generate 1 block at the and of 15 days period and it will cause 4x difficulty  drop.
- snip -

Not true.

Difficulty adjusts after 2016 blocks.  NOT after 15 days.

If blocks happen at near NORMAL speed (average 1 block every nearly 10 minutes) then difficulty adjusts after approximately 14 days:
2016 blocks * 10 minutes = 20160 minutes = 336 hours = 14 days

If there is not enough hash power and therefore blocks take longer, then difficulty takes longer to adjust.

2016 blocks * average 40 minutes per block = 80640 minutes = 1344 hours = 56 days until difficulty adjusts 4X

See code here:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/1b046603b30ebfab6199a2f92015d507b248b590/src/pow.cpp#L19

Specifies params.DifficultyAdjustmentInterval:
Code:
// Only change once per difficulty adjustment interval
    if ((pindexLast->nHeight+1) % params.DifficultyAdjustmentInterval() != 0)
{
    ...

params.DifficultyAdjustmentInterval calculated here:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/1b046603b30ebfab6199a2f92015d507b248b590/src/consensus/params.h#L63
Code:
int64_t DifficultyAdjustmentInterval() const { return nPowTargetTimespan / nPowTargetSpacing; }

nPowTargetTimespan is set here:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/1b046603b30ebfab6199a2f92015d507b248b590/src/chainparams.cpp#L79
Code:
consensus.nPowTargetTimespan = 14 * 24 * 60 * 60;
Note: 14*24*60*60 = 1209600

nPowTargetSpacing is set here:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/1b046603b30ebfab6199a2f92015d507b248b590/src/chainparams.cpp#L80
Code:
consensus.nPowTargetSpacing = 10 * 60;
Note: 10 * 60 = 600

So, DifficultyAdjustmentInterval = 1209600 / 600 = 2016

So, adjustment happens when:
(pindexLast->nHeight+1) === 2016

In other words...

Only once every 2016 blocks.

What I could say on this overwhelmingly mathematical information that bursts into my  small head. This are really amazing.

I am just the other guy who gladly receiving great information.

As understanding on the suggestion above. I have to pull out my bitcoin from online and put it to my desktop wallet. To make it safe.

Now if you're smart you'll keep it off of exchanges for the rest of your life... or you'll be one of these dumbos that shows up only when their bitcoins get hacked off of each exchange they use. Buy your bitcoins then transfer them to yourself. Don't ever trust an exchange.

Wait if I understood this correctly assuming the current futures price of BCC is correct they will get around 10% of bitcoins mining power, that means I will have to wait over 1-2 hours per confirmation? That makes it even less attractive a choice...
