41  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCMine - mining pool (long polling, SSL, JSON API) on: June 08, 2011, 05:04:36 AM
Argh no where to switch..

Btcmine server issues
Btcguild server issues
Deepbit has just hit 50% -.-
Everywhere else is small...

Guess I'll go solo then? lol.

Slush's pool?
42  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who said 58xx were sold out? on: June 08, 2011, 04:58:01 AM
I have an instock supplier of 5830s for ~125USD, but the Mrs. says no more rigs so I'll sell the link for 1 BTC.

I also have an in stock supplier of 5830's. But for 105$ CAD.

I won't sell the link. Wink
43  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you want to make more BTC... don't mine at Deepbit on: June 08, 2011, 03:14:51 AM
I mine for deepbit, and I'll tell you exactly why I do.

After deepbit was DDOS'd, I decided to try some other pools.

I tried BTCMine, and had issues.  7% stale shares, consistently.

I tried BTCGuild, and had issues.  Loads of idle miner times that cost me hours of mining.  Definitely more than a few percent, I would guess around 10%, but could have been way more.

I went back to deepbit.  Everything was fine, my generation was consistent, always under 1% stale shares (which are paid for anyway), it's extremely reliable now that Tycho has gone through a full DDOS attack and knows how to fight against it properly.

It is well worth it to mine at deepbit for the reliability and attentiveness of Tycho to any problems that arise.  It is worth paying an extra 0.5% to 1.5% effective fee rate in order to have 100% uptime, instead of 95%.  It just makes sense.

I concur... same exact situation I faced.

I don't think they pay for stale shares though.
Correct.
44  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What just happened to Deepbit? on: June 08, 2011, 03:08:36 AM
Holy crap

Did someone with a MASSIVE hashrate drop out of the pool or something? Tongue

edit when i read your post I checked deepbit and it's hashrate was reported as 1800GH. Now it's 2300GH and bitcoinwatch is looking normal again.
45  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Profit of changing pool on: June 07, 2011, 10:43:14 PM
You should earn about the same amount.
46  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Stop mining on Deepbit NOW! Security Risk! on: June 05, 2011, 08:00:34 PM
Oh cool, you used the image I uploaded to mediafire Smiley

Deepbit miners, please join smaller pools Sad
47  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit Approaching 50% Once Again on: June 05, 2011, 07:11:22 PM

They're getting a bit too close......
48  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCMine - mining pool (zero fee, long polling, SSL, JSON API) on: June 04, 2011, 03:13:18 AM
You've got problems again. My workers are shown as offline but they are still submitting work.
This.

I am getting spammed with miner notification emails, lol.

EDIT just recieved long pulls and my miners seem to be submitting valid shares.
EDIT2 And we just solved a block. Everything is working.
49  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCMine - mining pool (zero fee, long polling, SSL, JSON API) on: June 02, 2011, 04:53:35 PM
Is it just me, or is something seriously wrong with btcmine.com right now. I got a notification that my miners went down but they are still mining as far as i can tell. It doesn't look like they are recieving long pulls, and on the site it shows that there are no shares submitted by anyone in the last 7 minutes or so.

EDIT - Everything is working now.
50  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need beta testers for new GUI. on: May 31, 2011, 05:06:07 PM
I would like to test on BTCmine.com using phoenix with phatk kernel. I`m assuming you need the arguments to send me a hardcoded version as you stated in your other thread, I will pm you.
51  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I just lowered my memory clock to 300 on: May 31, 2011, 04:49:25 PM
No, I have a 5850, I just think Trixx is buggy.

I started Trixx up once and it was set to 725, 4000, and 1200 for the three settings, the Memory clock seems to vary widely. Plus, it doesn't help that when I click to move between the entries it clears them so I am never certain what I am setting them to when I click "Apply".

I'm wondering if maybe there's a better overclocking program I'm missing out on. Also, how hot is too hot to run these cards? I never really hear anyone commenting, but I've heard some people were going as high as 80 to 90 degrees Celsius, that seems awfully hot...
MSI Afterburner works for me. Also, I have had my Gigabyte 5850's running as hot as 99 degrees Celsius without failure.
52  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit offline... on: May 31, 2011, 04:42:29 PM

Mining on BTCMine (0% fee) for 24 hours = 1.17 BTC
Mining on Deepbit for 24 hours, during the 0% fee period = 1.55 BTC

So one pool had better luck than the other pool? ok

I don't know about you, but personally I want to mine on the pool with the highest payout.

I have factual evidence that deepbit pays out higher, while you are just here arguing that the pool is "luckier." Alright.

I don't think you understand how the Bitcoin system works. In some 24 hour periods on BTCmine I will make double what I would have made on Deepbit. This is simply due to variance.

EDIT - rezin777 beat me to it
53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I just lowered my memory clock to 300 on: May 31, 2011, 05:26:29 AM
I lowered my memory clock to 300 in Trixx and it crashed my computer. It never used to do this, so I'm not sure what is going on.
Do you have a 5830? I am unable to bring down the memory clocks on my 5830's but I can do it with my 5850's.
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I just lowered my memory clock to 300 on: May 31, 2011, 05:11:50 AM
This is what works for me

Memory clock = (core clock / 3) + 14
55  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit offline... on: May 31, 2011, 05:08:09 AM
0% proportional fee for a few days, I like!!!!!

Gee, how many pools have had this for ages now?

Ya, but their payout is not as high

Are you on drugs?

Are you?

Mining on BTCMine (0% fee) for 24 hours = 1.17 BTC
Mining on Deepbit for 24 hours, during the 0% fee period = 1.55 BTC

So one pool had better luck than the other pool? ok
56  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 31, 2011, 05:03:53 AM
Okay, thanks for the help. Seems like the only way to increase voltage on this one is a hard mod, but I'm not gonna do that.
I tried to push it a little bit and the card is now running stable on 990/300 (I'm not kidding) for some hours.
Getting 435Mhash/s out of it.

300 memory clock?

Why?

I had one of my 5850's running at 970/1250...but 990/300? Just why?

My hash rate INCREASES when I drop the memory clocks down. Memory clock = (core clock / 3) + 14 seems to give me the best speeds for my 5850's
57  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 3K worth of mining equipment did it all fail? on: May 29, 2011, 10:15:38 PM
Failed on my 5830

I was able to lower the memory clock on my Sapphire 5830 to 300mHz when it was the only card in my rig. I tried with two 5830's and it failed, and also tried two 5850's + one 5830 and it failed.

Weird stuff.
58  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: my opinion about mining on: May 29, 2011, 10:05:37 PM
you're a computer-nerd.  You enjoy dealing with a lot of complicated hardware, and you are good at setting them up

MMMMMmmmmmmmm hardware.

http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/old_calculator.php

good luck

edit - for some reason the difficulty on that calculator seems to be way too low for me, replace it with 434882.72175

LinuxCoin, it's really easy to get running. You can even install it to a usb stick and you wont need a hard drive.
