context clues. inferencing. all of these abilities could help all of you answer my simple question. i'm done with this forum, idiots. i think i know my technology enough to figure out what i need more of to do better. its just asking if there is a mining client out there that is even more optimized for my particular sandy bridge i3. idiots who think laptops can be overclocked. people who think a broken desktop is actually working. wtf.
laptops cant be overclocked? go google. broken desktop...right, elaborate. i believe you're making yourself look like the fool here. only an idiot goes to a forum DEDICATED to something and bashes them for not helping. how bout you get your herp derpness out of here before it spreads. freaking rtards these days. you expect the answer within the first page of the thread? get out of here. you mustve been babied and still are. i suggest u open your eyes and think twice before you type another thing. glad to see dumbass people like you gone. a quick search or google wouldve helped you, but no, you're not even smart enough to do that. how bout searching up cpu miners or anything like that. also, if you READ the posts and saw that people said cpu mining isnt really recommended, you can conclude that there ISNT a demand for a highly optimized SB miner. derp? Just to be that jerk. Laptops can be overclocked. Although not extensivley it can be done. I know one manufacturer provides software to do it but I forget who. it was rhetorical. no shit laptops can be overclocked. im trying to show how stupid that guy is for saying it cant.

5870 @ 970core 300mem Guiminer-2011.05.01: 431.5MH/s (--platform=0 -v -w 256 -f 0) PhatK: 426.62MH/s (phoenix.exe -u http://XXX:XXX@deepbit.net:8332/;askrate=15 PLATFORM=0 DEVICE=1 BFI_INT VECTORS AGGRESSION=12 -k phatk) -EP not really a correct comparison. youre missing the w256 flag for phatK actually, i take that back. default should be max the device can support.

his info is helpful, but Overclocking depends on manufacturer Risk is low- know your limits. dont herp derp and max out everything. keep it simple, a fairly big percentage of people are able to hit 9xx core on the 5870 on air. so go for that and make sure u increase fan speed. You should do that by default anyways. I keep my 5870 at a 44% fan speed. Oc to 973 core and max is around 75c. Overclocking is worth it. It's not THAT dangerous. if it was detrimental to warranty, a LOT less people would do it. just remember what i said, dont herp derp and increase the oc to insane amounts. At this point in time, the 5850/5870 or 6950/6970 are your best bets at single gpu setups. The 5970 and 6990 are also viable options if space is limited. I wouldnt waste time and money on any other cards. the 6950 can be had open boxed at newegg for 220 5870's used can run from 150 to 180 5850s, even lower. A simple system is good. as long as it has enough pcie slots to accommodate your needs. dont expect it to be quiet if you have 4 gpus next to each other. i have a simple 775 platform. anything that has enough slots would work. just do NOT skimp on the psu. it's pretty damn important. you need the power for the gpus. you dont really need the cpu power, so any old thign would work. like it said, it's pretty dependent on your needs

if there is 500 gb/hash of people competing for a clock which is worth 50 btc, not matter how long it takes to finish the block, your still going to get paid the same. For example, I run a 1.2 gb/hash machine, that means i am 1/500th of deepbit. which also means i get paid 1/500th for every block. every block i receive .10~(50/500 = .10) so no matter how long a single block takes, a single block is still worth 50 btc. thak a look here: last night there was a block that took 3 hours to finish. i got paid .10 again, like i would for a block that takes 5 minutes.
10.05.2011 03:13:36 0h 16m 118402 0.12903076 10.05.2011 02:57:14 0h 00m 6438 0.12806772 <<< over here i got paid a lot more in 0 minutes than in three hours. 10.05.2011 02:56:17 0h 21m 155039 0.11449377 10.05.2011 02:34:49 2h 52m 1264805 0.11323524 <<< take a look, no matter how long i still get paid proportionate. 1/500 09.05.2011 23:42:15 0h 28m 208602 0.10509008 09.05.2011 23:14:03 0h 04m 34988 0.11505373 09.05.2011 23:09:18 0h 22m 166527 0.11329394
maybe pay per share is better? with more than 500 gb/hash i thought that there wouldnt even be a 3 hour block, but maybe its just once in a while?
The point with the long blocks is the shares u submit and total shares. it's divided. so the more shares other people can submit the less u get

Just did a sale of 30 btc. received the money promptly
Thanks again BTX. expect more business in the future

tech prices drop pretty fast. if u get offered 909, id be amazed

One thing I noticed, when using Pay-per-share, the history column will not tell me how much BTC I made in the last 24 hours. Can a counter be added there, something that keeps count of how many shares I completed in the last 24h?
every 24 hours, u should just reset share counter and do the math yourself for now

holy crap. finally deepbit.net is back to its snappy self. now it's back to its original self! yee The advice about DNS server goes to you too. Usually slow page loads are experienced when you use backup server instead of main one, so it would be nice to know, why that happened to you. wow this is huge improvement, i just noticed i'm not waiting ~10 seconds to load anymore, thank you Tycho, do you take donations? I may send some btc to support you! ...and to you too. Hey, people, WHY didn't anyone told me about the slow loading ? I just didn't knew about it... Thanks for your support. Address for donations is in the bottom left corner of the site, but it was just my job to fix things Yeah, ive been meaning to, but that would mean a restart and a restart is a PITA right now even though an SSD makes it boot faster. gotta start up. login. open realtemp, msi AB, gui miner, change a few settignfs here and there. blargh. doesnt sound too bad now that i think about it. So google's dns is recommended?

it used to be instantaneous load when i click on statistics or my account in deepbit
then it went downhill and i would have to wait awhile

1 6990 under water will be better than two 6950s under water as the gpu's used for the 6990 were binned better.
as for the 5850s, a lot of the non ref ones are the cheaper ones. google around to make sure everythings working fine

Somebody should post a guide on overclockers.com to get this pool to grow even larger.
I'd rather not

410Mhash/s for one gpu or for the whole card? Cause Ares is dual-gpu platform ... Just asking
If it were not, then why would he be praising the Ares cards. I, pretty sure along with OP, assume most people have enough common sense to figure that out.

keep getting idle miner due to no work received error in phoenix.
was working fine the past few days... at aggression 10

What's exactly doing PLATFORM=ID option?
Short answer: The PLATFORMS=ID switch is to specify which platform ID on your system you want to use. It's only important if you have multiple OpenCL devices in your system, from different vendors (mixing AMD/ATI and nVidia cards in one system, for example.) If you only have one platform on your system, you don't have to specify it. If you have multiple platforms, Phoenix will tell you that it is needed. So, don't worry about it. Long answer: OpenCL is a standard developed by Khronos. The "core" of OpenCL was not created by AMD/ATI nor nVidia, although they probably contribute to its development. The problem is that, even though OpenCL is common, AMD/ATI and nVidia have different ideas about how to go about bridging the gap between OpenCL and GPU. AMD/ATI gets from OpenCL to raw GPU code in a different way from how nVidia does it, which makes nVidia's version of OpenCL totally incompatible with AMD/ATI cards and vice versa. This can cause a serious problem when there is a system with some nVidia and some AMD/ATI cards in it: One vendor's version of OpenCL will not work with another vendor's card, so Khronos needed a way of making sure independent versions could exist on the same system. Their solution was to use an "installable client driver" (ICD) for each vendor. So, when you install both AMD/ATI's OpenCL and nVidia's OpenCL, they exist as separate "platforms." One accesses the AMD/ATI cards, the other accesses the nVidia cards. So .. any ideas how to use phoenix with the followin scheme: first slot - 5870 second slot - 5970 and no chance to start phoenix or pocblm with device # parameter since the only active is number 0. Second is the cpu. [/quote] you need a dummy plug or another monitor to plug into the card

Hello all, I am not much on posting in forums but thought it was time to say thank you to Tycho for the work and dedication put into Deepbit.net. I also would like to say thanks to all the members that have contributed to this and other threads on this forum. Many of you have been a great help in understanding how this all works.
I started mining solo in mid 2010 with CPUs only. Success was very rare but my interest was captured. I recently purchased a used 5870 from eBay which is turning out to be a good investment. My full time mining rig is an old MSI motherboard with a Q6600 CPU, overclocked 5870, 850 watt power supply, 2 gig ram. Other than the video card and power supply the system is over 4 years old (my old gaming rig reborn). It is sitting in the server room I admin over and working very smoothly.
I have a few bills to pay but plan on investing in another GPU very soon.
If your looking for a pool to join I would say Deepbit.net is the place to be.
Have a great day.
Most definitely.
