481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC just up 2Ghash !!! on: May 20, 2013, 06:55:40 PM
Really crazy to see how much Worldcoin is eating into the Litecoin Hashrate...Down to 16.3 GHs
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC just up 2Ghash !!! on: May 20, 2013, 06:52:51 PM
Scam coin is for coins like Feathercoin and Chinacoin which don't any advantages to the table, imo. Of course those coins are like scams why would someone use them over Litecoin?

WDC offers near instantaneous confirmations, something which actually gives it an advantage over Litecoins and Bitcoins. Long term who knows what could happen... that is why people are buying it.

What a joke, CNC offered near instantaneous confirmation times as well... 20 sec block retarget, WDC is only 5 seconds less...

By your logic I agree CNC is a scam (along with WDC), but Feather is a legit coin. Main reason: the dev has been accountable and far as I can tell, wasn't out to make a quick buck otherwise he would have ditched it a long time ago.

Chinacoin was fast, but there were a few issues with it that killed it. Namely, the unknown dev, limited support, bad name, bad timing, overhype, lack of a supporting market base....You get the point. A LOT of things were wrong with Chinacoin.

On another note, Worldcoin is really dominating atm! Let's keep it going. Instant Transactions for All!

Was there a fork just now?

Yup, but only wdc.dontmine.me is on the losing fork

wdc.dontmine.me pool is on a wrong fork or whatever. But they are hashing for themselfs and are 50 or so blocks behind.
Just saying, in case anyone is still mining there
.-. Well, time to switch pools again, That explains the network slowdown

Depends on how many hashes you can make...more than 500MorKhs id for for ltc or btc as you can spend them.

This, what will you be mining with?

I never mined yet, but I have read about these 'hashes' but don't know what that means.

'500MorKhs' - sort of looks like gibberish to me

I suppose I would mine with my computer.

I don't like to download stuff on my pc, all that much, ya know. So, I tend to pause and think about downloading anything.

For simplicity's sake, Litecoin's your altcoin Tongue

My p2pool at http://54.244.192.52:8301 is still up and running like a charm for more than 12 hours now! It also has a working block explorer at http://54.244.192.52/nibble/

Feel free to join!

Hey why was there a break for like an hour with no blocks between 1pm and 2pm and then between 3pm and 4pm today? Did the pool just not find any?
Yeah.. just unlucky due to diff being 4 already.. Also the hash power of the pool dropped to 12MH...

How is this 4 already @_@ Worldcoin has several times the hash power and even faster (relative) retargets, and it's just recently hit 4

I was looking at all the alt coins, but just briefly, and I am uncertain which one will be good to start mining with.

If your looking for a major coin, Litecoin. Could also try Worldcoin, which is really popular atm. Both should give you rewards quickly when pool mining, although Worldcoin is significantly more profitable atm
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Update] Root (4-Week Altcoin Announcement) on: May 20, 2013, 01:12:07 AM
I can confirm that calling this coin "Root" would be the same as calling it "Fuck" from an Australian perspective.

Might I ask what they call the roots of plants then @_@
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FRC] - Difficulty Adjustment fork moved closer! [HARD-FORK @ block #28336!] on: May 20, 2013, 01:10:06 AM
so basically expect the network to still be stalled out, since that will only be 85-90% profitability of bitcoin. Why didn't you use a trc-like difficulty adjustment. Anyone who says its too prone to pool hopping has never tried it, lol.

what are we roughly expecting the difficulty to go to once the fork occurs?
From 148451 to 37112, then further downwards if the hash rate stays low.

Well, can't be much worse than it is now, eventually the new algo will take hold and it will "return to normal"
Very interested to see how it plays out

TRC's difficulty scheme is crazy XD

Slightly worried about how it could affect users if a ton of people drop off the network. Shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as FTC and FRC because of the significantly lower block time, but still not preferable

500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] WorldCoin vs Nibble - who will win this rat race? on: May 19, 2013, 05:01:16 PM
I like the idea that Nibble has for launches, but despite the flaws with WDC's launch, the fact that it gets the coins out into the wild faster makes it much more likely to be adopted. Plus Nibble's block time is the same speed as Litecoin. The big reason why Worldcoin is winning people over is the block time, and the fact that they can send/receive funds literally in less than a minute
