121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Levelcoin - Proof of Stake / Proof of Burn Hybrid - Inflation Immune on: February 13, 2014, 07:54:08 PM
Any update regarding level up coin?

Yes, we are putting the infrastructure together for development. There is a lead developer working on the project. A decision is being made on the platform - Bitcoin based, Skycoin, or build from scratch. A website is up and currently being built. An alpha version of the client will be released prior to any more fund raising. We are using tk808's list as a checklist for development goals leading to release.

If anyone is interested in joining the development effort or being notified of updates, please PM me.

Thanks for your interest.

WARNING!!! DO NOT SEND ANY FUNDS TO THE ADDRESSES ON THE ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT POST!!!
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interest in a P2P Exchange on: February 13, 2014, 07:33:16 PM
Summary: Retarded idea. There is currently no way to implement a p2p exchange. The problem is there is no way to move fiat.

There is:
I just announced a proposal for a P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange which solves the "how to get the fiat in/out" problem.

BANK RUN! - P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=462236

Yep! This is the way to do it, and the only way I've been able to think of keeping Bitcoin and other crypto currencies free without being limited to doing exchanges in person. Very good job, k99.

Like the idea, guess a few of us, including myself thought of exactly the same thing, maybe using automated ACH transfers. Glad to see a lot of interest in it.

You wanna post a new coin ANN? it will cost you .1 btc.

Make that 5BTC refundable if the coin has proven to work after 6 month of development.

You wanna start an IPO? great! it will cost you .5 btc and require identity verification.

Make that 50 BTC refundable when the project is off the ground and investors shares distributed.

That doesn't sound too bad at all actually, mods get popping.

Please don't. I don't need other people deciding for me what can be offered and what I may invest in. I took a risk here, even posted my reservations along the way, and lost (though some of us like the idea enough we are continuing on with it). On other offerings I have done very well, earning way more than was lost here.

Your proposed rules would probably have deprived me of these opportunities.
125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Mt Gox Press Release - Feb 10 - they are claiming flaw in bitcoin protocol ! on: February 10, 2014, 08:58:07 PM
There is never any legitimate excuse for any financial services company to not immediately return a customer's money upon request. Mtgox has delayed customer withdrawals for almost a year now. This means Mtgox is insolvent. Do NOT keep any more money there than you are willing to lose.

wow.. hang on.. you must not have a bank

daily limits, AML query's and that such. look at Cyprus and other noteworthy government led bank blockages

although i morally agree that no financial service of any kind should block peoples funds... it does happen.

and i totally agree that there is no viable reason to block a bitcoin transaction, bitcoins are stored on private keys.. so blaming a protocol is simply blaming software, which can be altered/replaced

This is precisely the reason why I advise people not to keep any more money in banks than they are willing to lose. The global monetary and banking systems are also insolvent at the most fundamental level.

Guys, this is the Buyer/Seller Thread.
Keep it on-topic please.

Look at my posts a couple of pages back - exactly what I asked.

It is somewhat on topic. While TKeenan means well, it will be a lot harder to do much selling if he scares off potential buyers.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: February 06, 2014, 11:22:24 PM
Surely they should be actively posting on THIS forum to keep crypto-currency newbies investing?

They are too smart for that.

They don't spend time trying to get 'newbies to invest'.  That is activity for pump and dump coins.  Mastercoin core devs don't really care at all about pumping up the prices.  They only care about building a nice system.  Everyday they spend all day solving complicated issues.  There are no cheerleaders on the team (except maybe me).  They don't come into forums and say positive things to attract newbie investors.  They believe either the damn thing works and people will come running to use it; or the damn thing doesn't work. That's all.  So they spend all day in code - not in forums trying to attract newbies.  Maybe you guys should go over to NXT or Doge where they don't care at all about the underlying technology but love singing pretty to newbies.

MSC prices are low today - because the function is low.  That is how it should be.  Maybe tomorrow the function will be higher and the prices will follow that.

MSC has loads of long-term coin holders and very few day traders.  Doge is a good place for day trading.  The Master Protocol is allergic to hype.

Thanks for the heads up, and for making me want to dump my coins and jump ship Roll Eyes

Without any investors, the coin will not succeed. Without buyers, there are no sales. Say what you will, the devs can have their heads buried in code all day long, ironing out problems. Without new interest now, tomorrow, next week or next year the coin will decrease in value. Where theoretically it could get close to the point at which it is worth nothing. Now that is a smart thing to do.

PR is important. This thread needs to be either locked or moderated. It no longer serves the original function of exchange.

Witout reading 10 or 20 pages, can someone tell me what happened with this? I was interested in sending btc but it sounds like the project is off the rails?

You should read the pages,  it's a SCAM and the dev ran off

Actually I think there was not any dev but just scammer pretending to be a dev.

Good point. We don't want people continuing to send payments to scam address. We need to modify announcement if possible or post announcement of new project. There is work being done on the project by a team independent of the original post. If anyone is interested to join, please send PM, and I can invite to Trello and Redbooth boards.

Do you have any recommendations for SCRUM and online collaboration tools for doing crypto projects?

First, here is why SCRUM is awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU0llRltyFM and here is the tool we are using: http://www.scrumdo.com/

These are solid reads http://it-ebooks.info/book/494/, http://it-ebooks.info/book/2803/

Thanks for following up with answer. Scrum was great for Wikispeed!

Trading =/= Investing, td service and stereotype and Bit Think are on the right track.

Shills can go fuck themselves (all who respond to this insult will just acknowledge they are, I am not calling anyone in particular Wink ).

I own XCP, PTS, MSC, NXT will mine ETH and never buy eMunie (because I damn hate them) and I am a happy rich man!!

Also @td service: Skycoin? A close friend of mine advised me to keep this under my radar too...

Yes, I'm watching Skycoin, like the Go language aspect. It may be used as the basis of a two tier PoS coin some of us are working on. We're currently deciding on a platform.

Thanks, if you want to post here, or by PM. We will be creating a new thread for the reboot and it would be good to have a distribution list for announcements to those who have invested, as well as anyone else who is interested.

Also, just ignore the people who are posting comments rubbing it in about being scammed. I've checked their posting histories. They typically have agendas to discredit the pre-sale ('IPO') model.

You are welcome. If there is something i can help, let me know.

Even though i am new in bitcointalk.. i have been using bitcoin since 2011.

The reason why i did not buy a lot of bitcoins before was because all the people i know keeps telling me that bitcoin is a scam.

tk808's list is a good checklist to use for having everything all together for a launch, and we will be using it for the Level Coin reboot.

There are a lot of scams, and depending on your risk tolerance, hitting a few may be a cost of doing business to make the kinds of returns available in crypto assets. NXT was a fail on just about every item on tk808's list other than the client was available, which is why it had very low investment in the pre-sale, but it had a huge reward due to very low dilution, a 4.7% average stake for 1 BTC.

Ethereum, in comparison, satisfies every item on the list, but it will also have a huge pre-sale, and a lot lower return along with less risk.

Charles,

Can you confirm the estimate for the main net launch to Q3-Q4, 2014?

Thank you.

I'm pushing us into SCRUM and really hammering down the development process. Once we have those operations where they need to be, we will have significantly better predictivity in our development flow. This said, we have a checklist that needs to be resolved prior to the value chain being launched. That will be the ultimate guide for when things get launched. Q3-Q4 seem reasonable, but cannot be committed to until a later date.

Do you have any recommendations for SCRUM and online collaboration tools for doing crypto projects?
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt to NEX Buy In - Exchange 1 Nxt for 50 NEX (MODERATED) on: February 04, 2014, 09:17:52 PM
Hey, I want to pledge 2000 NXT.

One question, If I reconsider and only have 1000 NXT after a while, can I change the number I pledged?

You cannot exceed the amount of your pledge once this offer closes.

If those who make a pledge are unable to supply the pledged Nxt,  that allocation will be distributed to the general public at the same rate.

Thanks for the answer. In this case I pledge only 1000 NXT.

BTW, limit is 10,000, not 1,000.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: February 04, 2014, 08:22:08 PM
Who got the best deal, people who bought Google or Apple at joke prices or those who just bought the NASDAQ index?

That's why I ignore most of the alt coins, especially Dogecoin. The whole meme thing with the pictures and broken English is very silly to begin with. I'm buying in a sector in a weighted distribution, not the whole Nasdaq.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt to NEX Buy In - Exchange 1 Nxt for 50 NEX (MODERATED) on: February 04, 2014, 08:12:54 PM

Note: If in the event that NXT prices continues to fall,  we reserve the right to request BTC at an exchange of 0.00007 BTC/NXT.

I'll keep my pledge in but I do not accept this change in terms. You may want to add this along with an explanation to the announcement. A major problem with the initial NXT pre-sale was that changes, like the 300-100% ramp-down in NXT stake per BTC, marker transactions, and ending time or block were not added to the announcement.

The reason why we added this reservation is not due to the possible price fluctuations with BTC,  but because of the possibility of an complete failure of the Nxt system where coins are not exchangeable in exchanges.

Not sure what you mean by 'marker transactions' and 'ending time'.   At this time,  there is no ending time until 1 million Nxt is raised.  At this time we are half way there and believe that once a working implementation is shown that this will close very quickly.

I was referring to the NXT announcement, not NEX, never being updated to include changes in the pre-sale buried in the discussion. Having the 300% early adopter bonus which reduced steadily to 100% by block count for NXT pre-sale added to the announcement would have encouraged more people to invest before it was cut off. There were other major changes as well.

Regards to my MSC holding, I'd rather not to disclose them because I don't think I need to prove anything. Believe or not is your choice and it affects me nothing. I will only say that I spent more BTC on MSC than on XCP. Moreover, whichever of them succeeds does not matter, I will be happy in both cases. Smiley That's the benefit of diversify.

This. I lol at the MSC fanboys who think by not diversifying they are being loyal or something. The people who hold both MSC and XCP are the ones that win. And right now, XCP has a more developed platform.

+1 I'm diversifying into all viable next gen projects - XRP, MSC, PTS, XCP, Ethereum, eMunie, even have some NXT. There is a very low downside compared to the huge upside if even just one really hits, and there will most likely be 2 or 3 sector leaders.

I'm also watching Skycoin, MC2, Zerocoin, NEX, and Bitcloud for ways to accumulate.

Despite all the negativity of being scammed, I prefer to watch at the half-full of the glass.
The OP gave a great idea, and there are at least 2 teams working on a new implementation of it (announcements will probably follow soon).

I do think that it will be a great idea to compensate any "suckers" in any of these 2 coins, provided there is a solid proof a person has indeed invested in LevelCoin.

Guess we can use addresses from blockchain info as a list, if we can weed out any that were used by scammer to inflate the balance.
