Reading this thread...I'm thinking, sheesh this will probably be me in 20 years as well with all my random tubs of collectibles I just buy and never display. Yikes
3  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitbills set and 10 BTC silver Casascius coin on GreatCollections on: June 15, 2023, 01:32:37 AM
Hello Mr. Lee,

I think the 10 cas goes for at least 13BTC

I think the bitbills collection goes for on average slightly overload value.

The bitbills are slightly harder to pin down, less well know and recognizable then the cas.

Either way this is quite the horde in terms of BTC and crypto history.

Considering the last two 25 BTC Cas to sell on their went for only ~$50,000 over premium (less if you factor in the forks) (not accounting for buyer premium) 2-3 BTC over is probably correct.

https://www.greatcollections.com/record_coin_prices.php

Edit: looks like prices might include premium, so technically they really sold for under BTC value?

5  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS 48H ONLY] *UPDATE PK CRACKED* 2016 Lealana Monero 100 XMR Silver Coin # on: September 17, 2022, 06:42:20 PM
100XMR CRACKED! Once swept, I will be posting private keys (both in their initial state and existing state) along with the methods used to access wallet. Thank you to everyone and most of all, Smoothie, who spent plenty of time creating analytical comparisons and going back and forth in DMs constructively debating potential solutions and sure enough his Z on the middle row was a letter I had never tried which proved to be the missing piece along with his other spot-on predictions (crazy considering he only had zoomed in photos whereas I had professional equipment and couldn't get the correct results /fail).

I can either start a separate thread on the entire process or continue this thread, any preferences? This was quite the process and I probably learned the hard way by switching up methods throughout but hopefully can add to Owlcatz educational post for any future sweepers.

Z? No way bro  Wink Glad you got it finally lol

For future drops - you should allow people to "hold" their serial number from previous orders like cryptoart.com does. I see the value in auctions #1 and #21 but all the other ones you should definitely give priority to previous buyers  Huh

10  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- ***NEW UPDATES*** on: May 28, 2022, 11:43:39 PM
I think it's only a matter of time until the police and/or the feds get involved now, this is turning into a large-scale scam, maybe one of the largest scams ever on this site, with many victims, me included.

Wouldn't get your hopes up. Been waiting for the FBI to do something about this scam since 2019.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5222246.0

I've personally provided a statement to them in Jan 2020. Owners of the coin are still scamming to this day... under the same name no less. Although last time I checked in with the agent (March this year) the case was still active... So my advice if anyone does want to take action, the sooner you do it the better because these cases could take years to resolve lol

13  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [PREANN] DOGE-Ball Gold Doge Coin on: April 11, 2022, 06:49:13 PM
Any chance you release a non-fundable silver version of this coin with a larger quantity than the gold ones? Or even a slightly modified one that's 100 DOGE instead of 1,000, but made out of silver?

I will step in and say that would take away from the very limited mintage of this artwork and I would not agree to it.

Ya, I agree, am worried I won't get a gold one haha

15  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] Cryptoart.com - Purveyors of fine art paper wallets on: March 23, 2022, 03:33:15 PM

2) We are going to clarify additional rights that give NFT owners the right to print the image on various media or display the image for their own enjoyment.  This is something most NFT projects are lacking.  So, you can print the image on a coffee mug for yourself, but you can't start printing and selling them commercially.

Most projects give you full personal and commercial rights to the art work as the NFT holder at this point, how is what you're doing any different?
16  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] Cryptoart.com - Purveyors of fine art paper wallets on: March 22, 2022, 11:49:40 PM

The authenticity will shift to the NFT. The NFT allows the owner to enjoy the art in virtual spaces and grants the owner the right to reproduce the image in the physical world for personal use.  If you want to sell the art piece, you simply sell the NFT.

Maybe I missed something or I'm not understanding it correctly. Can you elaborate on this part? Are you saying, going forward you'll only release pieces as NFTs and it would be up to the NFT holder to actually print them or will cryptoart.com still do the printing if the NFT owner wanted it printed?

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and international conflict on: February 25, 2022, 06:08:43 PM
Stop comparing the price of Bitcoin to fiat. 1 Bitcoin always equal 1 Bitcoin. That will never change!
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and international conflict on: February 24, 2022, 02:58:37 PM
Russia has been preparing for this for years. Dropping the US Dollar and stacking gold for the last couple years. Bitcoin will recover, as will all assets, eventually. My hedge against economic collapse is bitcoin and bullion. The WSS subreddit is trashing on Bitcoin but as they say, when in doubt zoom out.
20  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 4K Casascius Coin Marketplace on: February 14, 2022, 04:02:18 AM
Just had my MS70 silver gilt 1 BTC sell for 3.5 WBTC on 4k, not sure how to feel tbh. Listed at fairly high prices because I wasn't that motivated to sell but apparently someone really wanted one  Shocked

I'm quite surprised about the lack of discussion around this sale. This is great news for owners and the highest premium I've seen one of these coins fetch in years (in BTC terms at least)  Shocked

I'll be keeping a close eye on 4K going forward

Congrats on the sale Eodguy

That’s because we haven’t seen proof the sale was 100% legitimate and those who have been around longer with a bit more knowledge know that price if legitimate was a fluke (like what happens on eBay once in a while), which happens, but should not remotely be expected going forward. The coin prices listed on 4k aren’t going to drive this hobby anywhere as they likely aren’t going to sell.

4k kind of reminds me of Elias (Encyclopedia author) and his team at “CryptoVice”. Not as knowledgeable as the community here (speaking of their sales service, not encyclopedia,), and actively trying to steer sales away for their own profit that’s not really going to help the hobby grow.. like Scare City has done. The website is not well established. Unless I’m missing something I don’t see 4ks fees, insurance protection proof, terms of service etc. All red flags.

NFTs are a cute idea but in theory are just that. The only true safety would come in the form of a legally drawn up agreement that could hold up in a court of law.

It’s great that we can see the team members, but that’s not really anything that’s going to make me sleep better using this service. You state in your video AnonymousMiner is an anonymous escrow. Many collectors here have met him or know his name, and he’s helped facilitate sales, but he’s not a technical forum escrow service.  OGNasty. MinerJones, Krogo, HHampuz who are, have been trusted with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of collectibles for years, which is a proven track record (much of which viewable via the blockchain ). OGNasty and MinerJones were BitcoinTalk treasurers for several years who were entrusted with millions of dollars in btc by Theymos (of course who Satoshi left the site to). I’d say that’s a pretty impressive track record that is easily proven.

Site misinformation claiming Casascius/Mike Caldwell created the physical bitcoin concept is false. Gavin Andresen, Satoshis former lead dev did. BitBills were first to create one, in card form, and Mike followed suit shortly after. Also stating that bitcoin maxi’s see owning a Casascius coin as a must to be a who’s who is completely false. Most of the bitcoin maximalists HATE physical bitcoins (not your keys, not your coins). So those two false statements feel like misinformation used for artificial hype/sales tactics.

I just came across your video today and realized I had forgotten this thread was made. Truth is I’m stating here what was briefly echoed to me by long time collectors in “passing”. I just never looked in to the site.

Some of my concerns can hopefully be addressed, as sites like this are helpful in expanding the hobby, but this site in current form truthfully just really isn’t. These concerns are partially why business is going to Scarce and not 4k and will continue to until things are addressed /changed. -My 2 Satoshis

Note: your future staking  proposal brings up a whole other set of questions/concerns but I’ll save that for another day.

4K video - https://youtu.be/2Q3PjFTf7eo

Great points. I'd love to see proof this deal was legitimate. It very well could have, but the Bitcoin coming from tornado cash also makes it a bit sus.
