1  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: How Redo Armory Install on Online Comp Without Changing Install on Offline Comp? on: March 04, 2014, 02:28:13 PM
OK, great.  Will have to implement that.
2  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: How Redo Armory Install on Online Comp Without Changing Install on Offline Comp? on: March 03, 2014, 07:20:49 PM
Ok, great explanation, very useful.

Couple related items:

1) Regarding the N of M approach that you mention, is the easiest way just to have say five sheets, each with a fifth of the code sequence/keys that shows up on the paper backup or is there a better way.

2) Also, any recommendations/resources for creating bomb-proof, yet easy to remember pass phrases.

Thanks

BTW arent you afraid of HDD fails? Cold storage should be made on some durable device.

By durable, do you mean besides digital and paper backup.  My impression was that those are sufficient for recovering from HDD failure.

OK, that makes sense.  Great.  Thanks.
5  Bitcoin / Armory / How Redo Armory Install on Online Comp Without Changing Install on Offline Comp? on: March 01, 2014, 08:24:32 PM
Greetings,

I have a couple of BTC in cold storage on an offline computer.  I want to do a complete new reinstall of the OS on my online computer, which entails reinstalling the Armory wallet.  However, I want to leave the offline computer untouched.

Is this possible or do I have to reinstall the same new armory wallet on the offline computer as well?

If someone could outline the coarse steps / key things to watch for, or could just point me to the right thread.

Pardon the noob question but I don't want to mess it up.

Thanks.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Poll: Should Andreas Antonopolous Launch A New Fair CPU Coin? on: February 10, 2014, 05:54:52 AM
Greetings.

The recent epic failed launch of Maxcoin made me realize:

1) There are a LOT of people who want to see the fair launch of a CPU-only minable coin (i.e., mining for the masses).  The main Maxcoin thread on BitcoinTalk had 100 or so PAGES of posts prior to that launch...so people were truly primed!

and

2) We need someone mildly competent, and who is coming from a 'greater good' morality / values perspective, to handle it...invariably Andreas Antonopolous sprung to mind.

Thus the question:  "Would you like to see Andreas Antonopolous fair-launch a CPU minable Coin?"

Good job Gavin, on not getting creeped out by that sullen group of people, in that totally somber plain white room.  1984 anyone?

There was certainly kind of a 'let's size this guy and Bitcoin up for possible weaknesses' vibe in the room.

Most of us would have been like..."that time already?...gotta just take a break to grab a coffee and very likely not find my way back to this room any time soon even then."

Very likely these folks are a bunch of bean-countin', globalist agenda-pushin', think tank-promotin', fiat worshipin', rent-seekin', central bank-colludin', war-mongerin', surveillance-lovin', interest-demandin', social security-erodin', middle class-destroyin'...wingnuts.

So kudos for navigating smoothly through the whole ordeal and for getting out of there in one piece.

Only the uneducated believe in conspiracy theories.

What are you?  On F*^%$%g glue?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin will visit the Council on Foreign Relations on: February 08, 2014, 04:16:20 PM
Yes, Gavin handled the tricky questions very well.

I kept trying to picture the scene had Andreas Antonopolous been answering.  He is also an excellent voice for bitcoin but he would have done some serious shredding of some of these agenda-laden questions.

Question about mining efficiency on virtual vs true cores.

Does someone know what is faster for mining, both on a local desktop and on say Digital Ocean service.

Thanks.

When talking about these guys, one word is all you need to check into:

'Ponerology'

Kudos. I never heard this term before, but it's spot-on.

Yeah, it was quite the eye-opener for me too when I first checked it out.

In case you're interested, here's a bit more on that:

I say:

"Yes, Bitcoin is a dangerous Ponzi scheme.  By the way, if you have any I would be glad to take them off your hands in order to protect you from this insidious threat."
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Bitcoin Foundation needs Andreas? on: January 31, 2014, 05:15:56 PM
Dito that.

He's got a good combo of:

1) smart/knows the guts of Bitcoin
2) good communicator
3) seems to actually want to see fair money (i.e., Bitcoin) replace our current parasitic debt money system

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: map shows which countries are friendly to Bitcoin on: January 28, 2014, 04:26:22 AM
Correction, those BRIC countries I had mentioned are Bitcoin-Hostile, are actually only Bitcoin-Contentious.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: map shows which countries are friendly to Bitcoin on: January 27, 2014, 06:37:21 PM
It's interesting that, three of the four BRIC nations (Brazil, India, China, Russia), seen as the key emerging economies, are Bitcoin-Hostile...at least according to this map.

Brazil being the one of the four that is Bitcoin-Permissive.

Any thoughts on this?

Great video, thanks.  It's interesting to see those high up within the system discussing its problems.

They seem to be blissfully unaware of the impending blockchain tsunami!
