62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: October 26, 2017, 09:30:58 PM
In 20 of october I transfered 1526 USD to the Baikal bank account.

My bank reduced the amount of money from my account. (The bank did not ask me (yet) about the russian dealers)

I was waiting for the confirmation from Baikal as they got my money, but they did not. So asked them yesterday. And I got the answer too.

"Hi,

I would like to ask you. Did you receive my payment? It should be on your account by now.

Please let me know."

Answer from Baikal:

"Hi,

Please be more patience.

We will let you know as soon as we received it."

F***'n when?

One week wasn't enough there to receive the money??? I can see in my bank account my bank send the money already and my money in the baikal's bank account and he ask me for more patience..

I hope I will not lose money.. Never again this moppets show.

Guys, anyone got confirmation about the payment? Anyone got email, from baikal "ok, we received your money we will dlivery your machine on this and this date?"

Usually international wire transfer from US to Singapore/Hong Kong only takes three business days, IF everything goes through smoothly and the banks - both sending side and receiving side do not mess up...
however, in some cases, it would take much longer, weeks to get the fund finally transferred to the receiving account... just google "international wire transfer issue", you will get tons of cases from customers who are fked by banks, both side, and of cause, the banks always blame each other and you will never know what the hell is going on if you get screwed...

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Obelisk Update #1 Sia ASIC on: October 25, 2017, 10:25:35 PM
Hello! Whether you have preordered one or more Obelisk SC1 miners, or have simply signed up to receive emails, we are excited to give you an update on our progress.

First, we have completed version-one of the Obelisk chassis design. We want to ensure that the Obelisk looks far better than existing miners on the market – that it's something you want to flaunt, not something you want to hide. We took our design inspiration, both for the logo and chassis, from companies like Falcon Northwest and Alienware, and sci-fi movies like Star Wars.

The SC1 chassis is designed to support two fans in a push-pull configuration, where air is pushed into the unit through the bottom fan and pulled through and out of the unit by the top fan. This design is very similar to existing Bitcoin miners, because it helps efficiently exchange massive amounts of heat generated by the ASICs.

The PCIe power ports will be on the back of the unit, as well as a power button, LED status indicators, ethernet port, and reset switch. You will be able to stand the unit up like an obelisk, or run it on its side like a traditional Bitcoin miner.

Besides the chassis design, the project is going well, and we are on track for delivery by June 2018. The bulk of our efforts have been focused on chip development, which is a highly complex and lengthy process that costs millions of dollars. Our team is designing a full-custom 28nm ASIC, which means the bulk of the work is done by hand. Most of the funds go directly to human hours to design, test, and verify over and over again.

We have also made progress on the electronics design, hiring a local company to work on the printed circuit boards (PCBs) and control board. This includes a method for communicating with the ASICs, UI/UX for communicating with the user, security mechanisms (like a hardware reset switch), cooling method for dealing with crazy amounts of heat, and power distribution to properly power large quantities of ASICs on a single board. Power distribution is especially tricky – it's easy to distribute power to a few chips, but standard techniques can get very costly when 20+ chips are on a single PCB.

This week we passed 2000 Obelisk sales! The cap for this first batch is at 4000 units. The presale will close in late November, and we'll have more updates with those details in the next few weeks.

And, for those who may want to run their Obelisks off-site, in data centers or colocation facilities (colos), we will be making things a lot easier. We've worked out some deals with facilities, and will be updating our site in the coming days. You'll be able to order Obelisks and send your details right to a colo, or update your existing order to instead ship to a colo. Stay tuned for more details.

Overall, things are moving at a steady pace – which is a great thing! Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

Best,

- Team Obelisk
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: October 25, 2017, 03:36:45 PM
Yeah because buying from bitmain is way less stressful. Oh wait 100s if not 1000s of people have tried and failed and wasted hours of their life trying to get their website to work during their announced releases. This product is 2-3 weeks late but I havent spent hours refreshing pages to no avail. The only part for me that was stressful was waiting for confirmation of wire transfer. I would have had this same stress with bitmain. In this current market trying to buy any new asic at a reasonable price and without stress is impossible. It really does suck for the average joe like me who is trying to progress their home mining setup and everything is set up to favor the big boys. In 2 weeks these units will be on the streets and people will be over paying for them like everything else. No reason to bash Baikal or Bitmain this is just the world we are living in. We are all free to leave if we want but yet here we are.

cannot agree more...
especially on the wire transfer part, which is not really baikal or bitmain's issue, but the damn banks... all the banks, US banks, chinese banks, singapore banks...none of them could provide fast, transparent process of wire transfer...or  even secure...
just google "international wire transfer issue"... all the major us big banks provide really really POOR services...if you wait for 2 weeks and your fund is still not there, try to call the banks and wait 3 hours on the line, and finally someone answers, and will ask you for additional money to trace the transaction... seriously, i need to pay to ask where the hell my money is?

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What can i mine with 2GB GPU ? on: October 24, 2017, 04:16:44 PM
you cannot mine ethereum with any 2GB GPU, but there are a lot of other coins.......

What is the DAG file?
DAG is a Directed Acyclic Graph. It is used in all Ethash coins, like Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Musiccoin, Expanse, Ubiq and other coins to provide a proof of work. DAG file is generated every mining epoch and it increases from epoch to epoch. It is very important to know current and future size of DAG file because it has a huge impact on the mining speed. DAG file is locating directly in your GPU memory. And if DAG file is bigger than your GPU memory so your GPUs become useless. To analyze future dag size you can use a calculator or see table below to find out the end of mining with your GPUs.

DAG file changes every epoch. One epoch is 30 000 blocks. The increasing speed of DAG file directly depends on a time of block finding. But the block finding time is not stable it may vary from 10 seconds to 60 seconds for Ethereum. So the day of each epoch is not defined in time, it is defined in blocks. In general, DAG file increases 0.72x per year for Ethereum. But remember it depends on a block finding time. For other networks with slower block find time DAG file increases slower and your GPU can work for a longer time.

I would love to see a normal website storefront and more payment options. In this day and age it would be nice to see creditcards, paypal, and crypto payment options. I know wire transfers are a pain and scary for a lot of people.

credit card payment gateway, and paypal are very very experience for the merchants / sellers, and they usually need to pay 2 to 3 % of the transaction value, and paypal will add another 1 to 2 %... who wants that additional cost for small quantity high value transactions...
and maybe more importantly, to enable credit card payment or paypal, the merchant acquirers - usually banks will require very strict KYC (know your customer) process, which i don;t think most digital currency players are willing to go through  Tongue Grin Cheesy

it is just hard to understand...very hard...
why people today still believe in the claim of "10% daily return on investment"HuhHuhHuh?

seriously... if I have any opportunity to have "10% daily return on investment" option, WTF I share such opportunity with you guys? hell no.....
i would rather borrow all the money from mother, father, in-laws, relatives, friends i could, and take any loans from any banks, and cash out of my credit cards balance...
and I can payback just a bit more than a week....

what a world...
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stormhash 10% daily return. Is this legit? on: October 22, 2017, 04:31:13 PM
Ponzi scheme

is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator generates returns for older investors through revenue paid by new investors, rather than from legitimate business activities or profit of financial trading. Operators of Ponzi schemes can be either individuals or corporations, and grab the attention of new investors by offering short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.

Often, high returns encourage investors to leave their money within the scheme, so the operator does not actually have to pay very much to investors. He simply sends statements showing how much they have earned, which maintains the deception that the scheme is an investment with high returns. Investors within a Ponzi scheme may even face difficulties when trying to get their money out of the investment.

"Asus ROG Twitter post basically confirms GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is real"

"LR also managed to pull some specs from the listing. Assuming they are accurate, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti will have 2,432 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR5 memory (not GDDR5X) running a 256-bit bus, giving it 256GB/s of memory bandwidth. And consistent with previous leaks and rumors, it will have a 1,607MHz base clock and 1,683MHz boost clock."

www.whattomine. com
Do your own calculation - which is pretty easy

As of today, one gtx 1060 6gb could make $6.03 if you mine Ethereum(ETH), and would cost your $1.90 electricity cost if you pay $0.16 per kWh
so... obviously, you are  still very very profitable at this moment...
and when you will be not profitable in the future? when you can only make $1.90 per mining Ethereum... who knows that will be when

"These may be stupid questions but appreciate any help." - apparently sort of Grin Grin Grin
If mining is not profitable, this part of forum would be closed already and dusted...

of cause mining is profitable, and it is much more profitable than twelve months ago, and maybe 24 months ago also...
it is just not as profitable as the time in May/June for ethereum...

so...what do you want? mining is profitable, and will be for a long time, until you can not pay out your electricity bills

"Ethereum Core Dev team is implementing Metropolis Byzantium

, which will:
Metropolis Byzantium hits testnet on September 18th
Difficulty Bomb on September 22nd will reduce current income by approximately 20%
Metropolis Byzantium go live on October 9th (not a final date, subject to change)
Mining rewards will increase by approximately 23% after Metropolis Byzantium goes live"

I didn;t see 20% increase...
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability of D3 Antminer November Batch (21-30 Nov) on: October 16, 2017, 10:46:39 PM
Now D3 has only 17-18$ profit, i guess it has <10$ in November and ~5$ in December when ibeling 30Ghs and innosilicon launch to mine.

I think that's the most optimistic estimation of $5-10 in November if price would not double...
not only innosilicon A5 30G hash power, but also iblink 22G, and also baikal Giant X10 10G, and off cause bitmain 15G, and also something 17G.......
all delivered in late october early november ...
I  think november will face <$5 per day....
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A4+ Miner, any news? on: October 16, 2017, 07:58:50 PM
The first batch of Innosilicon A4+ is in November,
Now, you can buy L3+ instead of A4+ because they have same hashrate (L3+: 504 Mhs - A4+: 550Mhs)

any update about their delivery date would be in November?
My original order of A4 should be delivered in late September to early October, but now it is already mid October, but not even an email communication on what to expect...
sigh...  Angry first time try to be their customer, how disappointed...
if Innosilicon tries to compete with Bitmain, or even Baikal, at least try to deliver the products on time... Angry Angry
