21  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering Loans [No Collateral] on: September 16, 2014, 02:34:51 AM
Looking for a 1 BTC loan. I have the mining power to back it up. 30Mhs Zeusminer (proof -> http://www.geekhash.org/?q=block_history - I'm taking a small loss to help the CATcoin guys out). I'm going to either rent it out or switch to multipools for the duration of the loan. The loan time would be 2 weeks to 20 days (crisis should be over in 7).

I could just wait a month to get the amount I need, but I have to get it now, because I have some personal emergency come up. I also have a good reputation reddit's hardware swap and a good ebay record. Things are just in a small crisis right now and I need a bit of help. Also possible that I will have a new job in the next couple days.

Open to negotiate rates.

Coin Maturity!

Is that the maturity of the generated coin? Or just the transactions?

You need at least 3 to be sure. This is going to get wrecked.

Also https://bytecoin.org/news.php.

Bytecoin has been active for a while.
thats not the real bytecoin. Thats the CN based one

Which came first?

well from personal belief the SHA256 (this one) came first. However the CN Based one claims on their website that they came first and also that its very widely used however until about 2 months ago no one had heard of it here

I remember it. It was supposed to be different from bitcoin rather than a reboot.

Also like I said, this forum is hostile to alts anyways.
So the question is how do we reasonably differentiate?
I refused to use Panda coin because there were 3 versions.

Even with cats, there's meow, there's kitteh, there's nyan, and there's cats.

I disagree. Merged mining brings in security. With security comes people willing to bring features. With features comes a real use. and with a real use comes VALUE! Cheesy

People bring features because they are creative. Features are your job anyway, not third party. Security doesn't bring features, it brings price manipulation. And the BTC/LTC crowd hate alt-coins so they will destroy the price before anyone gets to use the coin.

Real use comes directly from desire to create. It is not a product, but a producer. Your evolution theory is backwards. Create it yourself.

Quick update for everyone. yesterday i began updating bytecoin to the bitcoin 0.9.1 base its in the CryptoRepairCrew/bitcoin repo on github (bytecoin branch). Once its running and tested i will be making it merged mined.

Ahmed

is bytecoin.org still alive or is it dead?

its been dead for around a year

I would caution against merge mining. You will #1 be second fiddle or fifteenth fiddle and #2 you will be someone else's garbage dump.

I work on Catcoin which aims to be Bitcoin in scrypt. Perhaps we have common interests. I don't see either BTC or LTC crowd innovating anymore, just a bunch of zombie hoarders.

horrible news. hope you have a full recovery batman.

as for batcoin, it's too bad it failed but the odds are against so many coins in this environment. i didn't put up much in the ipo and now i don't really care. seems unimportant to think about fractions of a virtual money (btc) when real life tragedies like that happen. everyone who thought they were scammed can now say they invested in a coin that failed and nothing more.

It has not failed yet. I am taking it over if noone wants it.

I'm for a new dev on this coin.  Let me know if i can be of any help

Wait until the ipo is paid back then we can get a new dev

LOL

Read the thread. The IPO goes to the new dev. Since I haven't seen Robin respond, I guess I'll do it without the IPO.

You guys are dicks. They post an announcement about the dev getting violently assaulted by a thief and everyone is just like oh that sucks. 3 or 4 people say something respectable then everyone immediately goes back to "So where are my coins, what happened to this feature, why isn't XYZ working?!?!" Bunch of selfish assclowns.

It's worse.

They don't even read the thread unless there's no money.

Anyway, I am willing to take it over, with or without the premine.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin POW innovations headed in the wrong direction. Let a chip designer pick. on: April 12, 2014, 08:01:31 AM
If you assume that market participants only buy sandwiches with the most slices then no competitor can produce sandwiches with unapproved vegies or meat.

The purpose of the POW is so nobody can fake transactions. Cryptocoin is an attempt at solving the N-thieves problem. This is similar to the Byzantine Generals problem. You're fixated on a purely technical analysis without any concern for the fact that people have to send something that needs to maintain its value much longer than its transit time.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin POW innovations headed in the wrong direction. Let a chip designer pick. on: April 12, 2014, 05:26:54 AM
True decentralization is free market competition and the enemy of free market competition is barriers to entry.  Proof of work is a barrier to entry.

Proof of work is like slicing meat for a sandwich.
Sandwich is like free market.

I want my meat to be sliced in the same thin sizes.
No competition whatsoever.

I want choices of meat and vegetables.
I do not want competition in my sandwich.

I want competition between sandwiches.
You broke the metaphor and now you have to fix it.

What makes electricity "cheap" ?

In theory if massive users of electricity all started setting up shop where elecrtricity is cheap that should drive up demand there, shouldn't it?

Is there a limit on how much "cheap" electricty the current "cheap electricity" locations can generate before they start being more expensive or simply get bid up in price by demand greater than they can cater to?

-MarkM-

In the real world, that involves getting a new address, renewing your driver's license, making sure your health insurance transfers, getting a different job, finding a new apartment, selling your car, buying another one, loading up your valuables, discarding old stuff.

Gee, I wonder why no one does that so often.

Most people put up with what they have until they have to move.

Which means whoever just moved in will eventually pay more than they were paying where they moved from.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Creator (Charlie Lee) Recommends Merged Mining with Dogecoin on: April 09, 2014, 12:54:01 AM
Merged mining is not a bad thing. I don't know why there is a panic over it, it makes complete sense and there are already mining pools that do it with dogecoin. They just fly under the radar.

Merge mining decides who is boss of the market by definition.

No self-respecting coin allows someone else to make them second place.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Creator (Charlie Lee) Recommends Merged Mining with Dogecoin on: April 08, 2014, 01:39:26 PM
dunno the chinese exchanges took ltc further then gox would have.

dogecoin's the flavor of the month type, stuff like that only last til the next fad comes along.

the initial spike came from gox many moons ago.

dogecoin users sold cars and houses for doge.

why?

because no retarded stare contest at the exchanges.

dogecoin means no stress.

no stress means more commerce.

deal with it.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Creator (Charlie Lee) Recommends Merged Mining with Dogecoin on: April 08, 2014, 10:46:29 AM
Litecoin's value is purely hype from the LTC on Gox hype.

May they both share the same fate.

Dogecoin took the jihad mentality out of cryptocoins.

I have my own reasons for going with other coins, but that one thing is the reason why dogecoin has value.

Basic science ? That's a joke right ?
Show us all the flaws of the current GPU miner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0) instead of spreading broscience. I'm waiting ...

If you're on the treadmill but you're not sweating I can reasonably guess that you're not on the uphill setting.
