Not spam. It marked the countdown on the last 5 minutes of NOOBNESS.

Stake * Multiplicity distributed over a network implies the more abstract notion of intent.

Not sure if it will be profitable to mine btc with server because it doesn't usually have great gpu. Not sure if mining litecoin will make it more worthwhile. Maybe someone more experience can comment on this.

Mining litecoins has consistently been more profitable. Especially with the recent jump.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] - 'paracoin' - paracoin.org on: May 01, 2013, 06:32:18 PM
I don't really get the solution. Can somebody explain it to me? How does vanitygen fit in?

It's just a tag which losly indicates that a participant at least attempts to have a presence in the paracoin blockchain.  Miners might leverage it in 'parasitic mode' when they are primarily mining the Bitcoin blockchain itself.

It might fuck up bloom filtering.  If so it could probably be moved to the end.  Or be dispensed with completely.

Congratulations you created Proof of Stake at a network level.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't we just release what everyone's thinking. on: May 01, 2013, 06:26:24 PM
1 second blocks would make for an extremely bloated block chain. Bitcoin's block chain is already nearing 7000 Mb and it's only a few years old. And it calculates blocks 599 seconds slower than your idea.

This starts to be a problem when you increase block speed like some of the newer currencies. Feathercoin and Chinacoin Block Chain's will be extremely bloated if they are around long. Eventually it could take days to weeks to download their block chains.

Crypto Suicide: your blockchain downloads too slow for any new miners to be able to withdraw any coin for days. So they drop out, so the difficulty drops, so there's more blocks, SO IT TAKES LONGER TO DOWNLOAD.

Because people who think ahead use multiple wallets. So I could EASILY have a limit on each wallet and never reach into the wallet unless I go on a cruise.

How about we don't build a currency based on the impulsiveness and willingness to compromise strength for convenience that Joe Sixpack seems to have?

Also good luck explaining to Joe Sixpack that the money they put away from Xmas last year drained out because of non-use.

You take your daily routine for granted.

370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Miner, boost Your hash rate on: May 01, 2013, 06:03:49 PM
I Have made a software for optimise internet speed, but i was very surprise when i saw,
the modification also Boost the hash rate.

Yup. Speed-hacking works exactly that way. It changes rate of ur computer clock to send packets more often. As a side effect all time measurements become incorrect (e.g., 11 seconds instead of 10). Unfortunatelly, this doesn't change REAL hashrate, only reported one.

Or ^
371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Miner, boost Your hash rate on: May 01, 2013, 06:02:53 PM
Unless you can download Yanni (why you would want to is not germaine to this exercise) faster with his solution, he did not make your Internet faster.
Also faster Internet does not make your hashrate increase. It might reduce rejects though.

This is retarded. Only way is for his software to set your card right and keep an eagle eye on it.

In other news, I'm selling dilithium crystals. Anyone?

Myself and another guy tried creating a currency based on advertising alternative news stories. About the same time too. It blew up when he got a little too close to the details of how things work.

Haven't heard from him since :/

In the year 2525, bitcoins will have been replaced by warp drive credits also lovingly known as space fart coins, because of the bright light (there's no sound in space) you see when a warp bicycle tears a hole in space. One of my ancestors (they have time travel so you know how that works out) is going to need the third eye replacement surgery before they decide to make the 7th trip to my past and get several of my ancestors pregnant. In order for me to be born I need to put away some small amount of bitcoin that they will use to pay for surgery because only poor people are allowed back in time and only poor people use bitcoins that their ancestors have collected and laminated.

It's all really straight forward one you think about it for a while. So ahem: 1CdKxjwu3msqKkFys5eMBDEk6i5q3TgqcT and thanks in advance.
375  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: QUICK Question about btc-e on: May 01, 2013, 04:17:20 PM
On BTC-e there are daily limits for each currency.

BTC-e uses cold storage. No more than a day's transactions can EVER be stolen. MtGox has Goxcidents.

I don't remember not being able to trade the same day. You may not be allowed to post in the trollbox for a bit though. It helps to confirm email address.
376  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why not solve scientific problems on: May 01, 2013, 12:07:52 PM
Hi,
So my understanding of BitCoin is it actually just solves seemingly random problems.
Wouldn't it be better to solve problems, process and analysis parts of the universe for www.theskynet.org or similar?
Cure cancer?
It is all dependant on huge amounts of computing power.  Seems like BitCoin is a good place to get it?

Please explain.

I love this question. It's the classic "What are you doing? Writing. Well since you're not doing anything, can you mow the lawn, clean out the garage, and fix the faucet?".

Canada already cured cancer, but lo and behold, no profits in that.

We are solving a problem, you're just not seeing the forest for the trees. By the same token, why burn electricity to cure cancer instead of doing something worthwhile like getting an education in medicine and then being the lucky one to invent something which cures cancer. Western abuse of Occam's razor simplicity at its worst.

You're trying to evaluate solutions from a rhetorical and philosophical stance. Doesn't work. EVER.

Bitcoin is a solution. Think of it this way, why play with a bunch of wires and build the electric grid when you can do something that solves problems like plowing the field. Oh wait, electricity = farm machinery.

You are simply looking at it from a materialist progressive point of view. Supercomputer networks are networks controlled by a central brain. Bitcoin is a network of brains.

The real question is not "Why not solve problems instead of Bitcoin?", it's "How can Bitcoin type networks solve problems?"

Sorry, I just get tired of the Holy Purpose Model. Especially, since the Holy Purpose Model is both socially and structurally inefficient and constipated.
