1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does Bitpay have serious problems? on: January 09, 2018, 02:51:58 PM
Is there a decent alternative for Bitpay?

I stopped using Bitpay. I still do not have a reponse. After almost three weeks.

I recently used Cointed, a registered company in Austria, which uses a payment solution in cooperation with Swiss Crypto Group. Very smooth processing, zero confirmation payment.

It's interesting that its you and me with transactions in the several thousands of dollars that are being stonewalled, while the many with (relatively) small transactions seem to be getting decent customer service. The paranoid in me would think they are selectively scamming large transactions. But, the objective rational in me would say they are very backlogged due to the massive issues with the network last month so they would have to take extra time verifying everything before they refund really large transactions to make sure they aren't getting scammed themselves.  But it seems really odd that they don't reply at all after weeks.

I am in the same boat.  I also have a very large sum that didn’t confirm in time on Dec 8th (but did eventually confirm, just not in time for the invoice to be “paid”). Sent my first support request on Dec 13, followed up on the 19th, never heard anything except for an automatic reply confirmation once on the first email. Now, it has been 23 days since the transaction failed and they still have my sizable amount of bitcoin (more than $5k worth). I have yet to hear from them. I sent them a more angry message on the 30th to their email but overall I’ve been pretty patient and quiet for them having so much of my money for so long with no reply. Saying “it will be 1-3 days and don’t send us another email or we’ll reset your place in line” doesn’t cut it when weeks have been dragging by. I have also started pinging their social media pr representatives to deafening silence.

I’m getting close to involving legal representation.

Hey, has anyone received a refund since Sep 6?

What reasons do you have for such little hope?

@bonker, good points.

Look at the aftermath of liberty reserve in its shutdown.  The USGov painted all the users there with the same broad brush and nobody got their money back. Look into the precedent set by "civil asset forfeiture" in the US where cops routinely seize cash from drivers and the IRS routinely seizes the entire bank accounts of legitimate businesses just because they "deposit cash too frequently." Many of those instances of drivers and businesses are quite obviously legitimate but they don't care and like stealing money because they CAN and the precedents set on the rule of law have changed far, far away from the idea of "nobody can be deprived of property without due process."

What's shocking about this particular case is the breadth of the application against so many international citizens instead of just within their own borders. I don't think the media will ever report the truth of this and only support the official narrative that the place was a den of criminals, because the scale of this, and its implications, are astounding.

Why? What did you find out?
Well i just seen HUGE difference in price between rex and cryptopia
Much higher price on rex! I tried to move coins out from cryptopia. But there is error on "withdraw" page for this coin.

"Status: Maintenance
Unfortunately we are unable to process your withdrawal at this time.
Reason: investigating possible fork."

That error still there. I asked here ... are "bbr" and "xbb" same coins or not?
But since i got no answers - i just "panic sold" kinda at loss. Was small amount anyway.

Ok thanks for your reply.  Yeah, I know it says unable to process, I just thought maybe you found some info... I'm hoping they will resolve it soon and if/when they do, it could be worth it.

I'm very curious to know what does "investigating possible fork" means ?
will it be deleted on cryptopia completely if they find differences with version that is used now on rex ?

*upd* never-mind. sold...   Cry

Why? What did you find out? Why did you sell the cryptopia holdings @notyoursbuisness ?
8  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM][UNSOLVED] BTC-E.COM REFUSING TO UNLOCK MY ACCOUNT (thousands of dollars) on: March 28, 2017, 08:33:29 PM
They haven't replied to my help tickets either. I came back to sign in about two months ago to an account I hadn't signed into for maybe over a year. They said the password was reset and further instructions sent to my email. Nothing ever arrived to my email.  Then going and manually saying "forgot password" and entering email yields nothing. Then radio silence to two support tickets later where I was saying if they can't to send to the original email for some reason please send to an alternate email, along with all the proof it asks for on the site (such as previous logins and IP's and what wallet was used, etc). I just want to be able to log into my account.  Without being able to log in it seems they are keeping my several bitcoins hostage.

I just figured I'd register my complaint here along with the others here.

Hey there Monero Developers.

What say you to the following:

@deadlyonetwo3 All [XMR] coins are still there. The developers have refused our attempts at contact to resolve daemon issues.

Is this some type of reverse-troll thread?  Huh

I believe "circle jerk" is the phrase you're looking for

I don't know who Peter Todd is but if he was HIRED to be a consultant for Monero it is really really unprofessional for him to be publicly defaming the code on twitter before privately giving his input to the devs. In the corporate world if say IBM were having some issues with their books and hired an outside accounting firm to come audit and straighten things out, then said firm went on twitter and publicly went "Hoo Boy! It's amazing IBM functions at all considering they basically use monkeys with crayons to do their accounting!" That would not fly and would immediately tank the price of the stock. When people have money on the line, why would this guy be publicly slandering the code when he has been hired as a consultant???

This is a reasonable question. Perhaps ask Peter Todd?

I'm more bringing it to the attention of the devs who brought PT on board....

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 11, 2014, 04:07:17 PM
From now on, only the following coins may be mentioned in the thread:

BTC -> classic blockchain coin - POW, store of value.
XMR -> privacy enhanced coin - cryptonote approach
NXT  -> second gen. coin, multi feature coin - Proof of stake
FLT  -> not sure standard first ge. POW coin ?
BBR -> privacy enhanced coin - cryptonote approach
NEM -> second gen. coin, multi feature coin - Proof of importance
XCurrency -> privacy enhanced coin. Xnodes - coinjoin approach
Maidsafe -> unique, not a blockchain based coin, platform
Skycoin -> unique, unsure what it is
Siacoin -> storage coin, similar to company shares

Discussion of the other coins belongs to other threads.

I made a short note for each coin.

FLT  -> not sure standard first ge. POW coin ?

FLT - Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, Proof of Transaction (only coin with this feature)

The fact that FLT made it into this thread is a troll joke. This is one of the worst "features" to ever be added to an alt as all it does is incentivize bloat and unnecessary transactions. If the coin was ever actually worth something then it would make sense to just set up bots with auto generated addresses that just move coins around my addresses thousands of times a day to try to get new coins from the PoT. Even if it was time locked and you could only earn PoT after coins sat in a wallet for say 24hrs it still encourages bloat because of unnecessary transactions every 24 hours at that point. Slower than unlimited transactions but still unnecessary bloat that doesn't scale.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 14, 2014, 04:24:30 AM
Ha I def have never had -4 transactions with anyone not even 1 for that matter. Maybe it was some jealous idoit with no basis or reference just spamming my trust rating. I care less anyway I would always use escrow when buying or selling, anything ... Trust is not required. MoneroCoin.com  for example Im selling using trusted escrow service, again, no trust required.

How did you not know you had a really bad trust rating? I just looked into your trust ratings and who gave them and it sounds like a scammer managed to double neg you for a botched paypal scam (he was scamming you) where you sent paypal and he didn't send any BTC.  I guess your OTC trading history is alright but seriously, how did you not know?

Leave the old order up. I would like an additional order

WTB 1700 @ .0013 = 2.21 BTC

Thanks
