What do you think?

Waves is one of the best places to set up an ico as well, no need for complex erc20 tokens that may have dodgy code in them.

and what exactly makes Waves superior?

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / SegWit Wallets unsecure? on: October 15, 2017, 02:13:34 AM
I read this on a blog:

"The answer is that segwit uses what is, in my professional opinion, an unthinkably nasty hack: according to the Bitcoin protocol, all segwit transactions can be spent by anybody with no proof of authorization. That means that literally anyone can make a transaction that spends the bitcoins in a segwit address. The "witness data" (which is the rules for who's allowed to claim the outputs, and the proof that the rules were followed on the inputs that claim the outputs) is moved out of the main block and replaced with a simple "anyone can spend me, there are no rules and no proofs," and it's up to miners to know what the rules really are, ignore the "anyone can spend me" instruction, and instead apply the rules from the witness data."

can someone explain further?
do i need to change my wallet in my ledger nano S from Segwit to Legacy?
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto winter is coming again … on: October 15, 2017, 12:22:56 AM
The claim that SegWit is a donation to miners and can be stolen is not justified?

this can't be true. can someone explain?

i think OMG has a bright future once Plasma goes live
I am not a fan of OMG. I think that out of all the coins that are being traded on an exchange, the only profitable coin that has people behind it the most is Bitcoin.

sure, Bitcoin has the biggest network and the most people behind it.
But i think there are some other projects that are good as well..
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / where to keep my BTC on sideline during fork, other than fiat on: October 15, 2017, 12:01:31 AM
Hello,

i want to sell my Bitcoin prior to the fork and later get back in. but if i sell em for fiat capital gain tax kicks in, if i sell em for Alts, they get dragged down too.
What are my options?

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Research Shows Half a Billion People Are Mining Cryptocurrencies Without Knowing on: October 14, 2017, 11:53:29 PM
The company behind the ad blocking program Adguard has analyzed the most popular 100,000 websites for cryptocurrency mining scripts. They found that over 500 million people have been mining cryptocurrencies and “they have no idea it is happening.” Each website running the script earns an estimated $43,000 within the three-week period studied.

Wow this is an amazing number  Shocked

I am going to go ahead and call bullcrap on this. Surely some sites are guilty, but chances are 99% of them make next-to-nothing given the power consumed by a regular laptop is hardly enough to make a living mining. This is not 2009 when you could mine a few hundred Bitcoin daily. Most altcoins are complete trash and mining them is a waste of time. What we really need to focus on are hackers using botnets to mine. They are the ones making a fortune.

you think it is profitable?
with standard home computers?
altough if you have thousands of them...

a lot of icos need some time before getting listed on a good exchange like cryptopia or bittrex.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any up and coming ICOs that are worth to invest? on: October 14, 2017, 07:50:28 PM
[Biased opinion here], but you can check out our new ico https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2267616.0 too.

All members have a very high reputation and have been active in the crypto enviroment for long, plus a reputable escrow, so you can rule out the scam.
The project is good and backed by a solid and active team, based on real world business and not just on blockchain-hype: not a behemot project like, say, a Tezos, a Kin or the like, but it has growing potential since it starts smaller.
Also the token has some actual use since it's dividends paying, among other things.

looks interesting, what marketcap are you aiming for?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM??Whats wrong with MAGOS ICO/TOKEN???SCAM?? on: October 14, 2017, 07:38:06 PM

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost 80% of my bitcoins in alts, What can I do now?! on: October 14, 2017, 07:22:58 PM
i would sell, at least Digibyte and Siacoin. The time you spend bagholding and waiting for it to go up again, you can spend better by
investing in profitable projects. Put some in OMG, some in KNC, ZRX and participate in some pump and dumps (max 20%), currently it is Metaverse. Make sure to get out in time.

Reddit daily discussions are usefull too
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How do you find your ICO's ? on: October 14, 2017, 07:18:04 PM
and always make sure that a token is necessary and that it is a benefit if they do their stuff on the blockchain.
Nowadays the want to decentralize everything, recently i read about an ICO that want to store 3D-Data on the blockchain.
That is just stupid, it would take Terrabytes. It is not an improvement, it is a step backwards.
