1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 12, 2021, 01:11:50 AM
Happy to hear that Ledger support has finally arrived - just tried to access my old wallet after long time but I could not. It must have disappeared after a system reinstall. I have the private key but I have found no way to import the private key into the wallet. Instructions in this regard don't work, probably they are outdated, they point to operations that the wallet seems not to be able to do. So what now?

A serious problem affecting X-bank: if you lose your phone you may lose all your money.
This is what is happening to me.
I've lost my phone, and with it my phone number, since I don't like to have a contract with phone companies.
Since IP typically changes now and then on your Internet-connected PC, X-bank didn't allow me to enter my account, even though I had set 2ath. It has sent me an email to unlock my new IP.
However, without my phone number I could not enter my email address any more either. Yes, also email providers nowadays are happy to verify you again and again though your phone number, as soon as you are changing IP or browser or whatever.
So now I am not able to enter my X-bank account any more, even though I have done nothing wrong, I didn't lose my password and I didn't lose my 2auth (I had the 2auth on my lost mobile, but I also had it backuped on my tablet).
In my X-bank account I had deposited 2 Million X-cash coins so that I could get the airdrop.
Now I am denied access to my funds.
This totally sucks.
Wasn't crypto invented to that we the people could stop getting screwed by banks?
So this totally sucks twice as much.
Seriously, guys, that's a serious bug in your security setup. People in crypto lose money if they do mistakes, but the way you have designed it people may lose access to their funds if they just lose their mobile phone. At least, make the email verification after IP change an option people can chose to activate and deactivate. Losing access to your funds is simply unacceptable.
Very uncool, for a bank, even more uncool for a crypto bank.

Hello Satosho Kakamolto,

Sorry you lost your phone and you had to go through these hardships. First of all, I would like to assure you that we are able to provide help and restore your access to your account. Don't hesitate to reach out to us or anyone in the team for help, we are always responsive.
From what I understand, the fact that you lost your phone isn't the issue, but more that you lost access to your email address, henceforth the responsibility doesn't fall upon us. Your email service provider has designed tools to help you get back access to your account. We are working constantly on the x-bank to bring new security features to ensure that your funds remain safe. We will provide the possibility to give a backup email address in the future to help restore accounts in case of email default such as the one your experienced.

Please reach out to us for further support on Discord -> https://discord.gg/4CAahnd

Ok, the backup email address is a very good idea, this is why I've made my post - to alert you about the fact that X-bank has at the moment a single point of failure - anyone losing access to their email account would lose access to their account on X-bank. Of course a second backup email address would reduce this problem to close to zero.
Looking forward now to solve my own problem on Discord.

Happy to see that the team is responsive and one problem at the time all issues are being sorted out and the project evolves. In fact, I believe X-cash is ATM one of the most promising projects around.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]X-CASH | First CNv8 based coin with public & private transactions on: May 10, 2019, 05:51:10 PM
On paper this is one of my favourite new projects around, but in the practice it's still full of bugs and lack of care and I'm starting to loose my confidence.
For example I'm getting mad in trying to sync the wallet. I have to resync it on a new WIN computer and there is simply no way to achieve that.
I've read all instructions (run as admin, whitelist directory for antivirus, connect to nearby servers etc) but it simply would not download any blocks, nothing would change for hourse and hours, everythig is stuck - in other words IT DOES N0T WORK.

And I'm reading on Discord etc that other people are in my same conditions.

Now it really doesn't help us - nor the success of the project - if you are replying that for other people it works. I guess this is NOT how a new monetarian asset is supposed to look for mass adoption: providing a system which works for some, but for others - at random - it does not work. Your money is safe with X-cash and you can even use it... if you are so lucky to sync the wallet.

Also the webwallet is not working any more - which was plan B to get to your funds if the gui is on stike - and I'm reading on discord your statement that to repair it is not your proprity.
Wow, I see... you don't care if people are not able to use and move their X-cash funds. Sooo smart. So strategic. So visionary on your side.
Good luck.

Someone has remarked on Discord that Xbank seems to have still major problems in the front-end. How do we know that there are not problems also on the back-end? In other words, how do we know that funds will be safe there since the team is apparently struggling in a relatively simple task like to have the front-end working properly?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP]X-CASH | First CNv8 based coin with public & private transactions on: January 28, 2019, 11:14:15 PM
As mentioned by Paul on the other channels please find an update on the X-Bank/Airdrop:

Quote
Dear @everyone

We are delaying the January airdrop registration for a few days. We are preparing the launch of the :xbank:bank, which will process the distribution of the next airdrops from now on.

We will give more information and a tutorial on the new registering process but rest assured it will be as easy as it is now. We would like to reassure you, the airdrop will come.

Thank you for your understanding.

You can find more information on the xbank in our latest AMA: https://medium.com/x-cash/x-cash-discord-ama-2-d516d0daac5

And to complete the discussion, I want to say that we will never require people to be active in the groups to get the Airdrop. That would only pollute the channels which is not something we want.
Similarly, we will never ask to follow or join all our communication channels. Indeed, that would generate some metrics but that would only fill the groups with thousands of users and no activity.
The only way to be seen differently from other coins is to act differently. So chasing after community metrics is not our goal.

About the Airdrop, the process will change a bit, but the good news is that it will 1. ease a lot the distribution, 2. prevent more the fake accounts on which we used to waste hours...
The onboarding process will be very similar to what it used to be where we will ask basic information.

Any questions, let us know.
Guilhem

This is a very wise approach. But I must admit I have no idea how the X-bank will work and which will be its purpose, even though the name is surely cool.

It looks like the team is going a good job in the real world. Any idea when SOMA is going to go beyond watches to the next stage?

I'd be interested too in getting some updates on the Model-X project. It seems interesting, but this thread seems to be quite inactive.

Syncing with an official remote node is the fastest option.

First, make sure you have the latest version of the X-CASH Wallet (1.4.1).
Download page
 (https://x-cash.org/downloads/)Official Github
 (https://github.com/X-CASH-official/X-CASH/releases/)
1. Add the X-CASH folder to your anti-virus exclusions/whitelist.
2. Run the X-CASH_GUI_Wallet.exe file as administrator.
3. Either create, restore or open an existing wallet file.
4. On Daemon settings, select option #2 [Connect to an official remote node from the list].
5. Select the closest remote node to your current location.
(i.e EUSEED3.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - France - Paris).
6. Press Start and let your wallet synchronize.

List of official remote nodes (https://x-cash.org/remotenodes/):

USSEED1.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - USA - Oregon
USSEED2.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - USA - Virginia
EUSEED1.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - Germany - Frankfurt
EUSEED3.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - France - Paris
ASIASEED2.X-CASH.ORG:18281 - Singapore

Here in Russia where I'm travelling right now all of this surely does not work for me, there is no way I can get a wallet to sync on my laptop, no matter how much I try and I wait. I hope you realize that if you are looking for some success for X-cash these often-reported issues with getting the wallet to work are pure poison for the project. People are used to wallets which are working smoothly, a wallet with a cryptocurrency is supposed to SOLVE your problems, not to CREATE you problems.

any news for cryptopia deposit?

Yes, this is a quite annoying issue, the impossibility to move coins to and from Cryptopia - this is invalidating a true price discovery. I know Cryptopia is totally slow in solving wallet issue also for other coins, but that's a problem.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [Airdrop] DSTRA - From Community Comes Unity | V2 Released | Airdrop #13 | on: November 02, 2018, 12:25:06 PM
DSTRA has interesting ideas. The distribution mainly by air drops is a difference from the other coins. DSTRA's many rewards are always attractive to the community.

Non-ICOs coins are always good, though there are very less coins like Dstra one can find which are being mainly distributed to the public mostly.

At current, Dstra price is not much, but current conditions are like that only, but when conditions will start improving, so well its price too.  We just need to hold or buy more with every drops if we can.

Yes, after one year of ICO madness where most of the people have ended up losing most of their money, now it's time for coins with their own blockchain to get again the attention of the people. DSTRA is showing a slow but nice rise.

We have just started AD13 (the lucky one) and it seems good fortune smiles on us - we have just been listed on WorldCoinIndex: https://www.worldcoinindex.com/coin/dstra

Moreover please check rebranded ANN as it has been refreshed by our graphic designer and let us know what do you think about it! (Wallets' section will be updated tomorrow)

Well done, the refreshing of the graphic layout is outstanding and very effective. Good move to improve the image of DSTRA.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Increased Number of Scammers on: September 30, 2018, 12:42:58 AM
We want the Far West? We get the Far West. There is no free lunch in this world. Freedom isn't free. The freedom we enjoy in crypto is the same that criminals use to predate victims. We will have to live with that until the day we will decide that the Far West is not for us and we'll give up our freedom to the usual suspects.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Do People Dump Their Precious Tokens With Ridiculous Low Price on: September 30, 2018, 12:35:56 AM
As a natural deal in the market, sellers always want to sell high and buyers always want to buy low. But the reverse seem the case with those sellers who dump their Crypto coin or tokens for some very low and ridiculous price. Thus that's not a natural market deal. What really is the reason why people dump? Have they got enough crypto gains that they need no profits no more?

It is by now clear that in this cryptospace the normal pattern of behavior of investors are amplified in an extreme way, almost insane. People believe that assets either "go to the moon" or that they get "dumped to zero". And their beliefs become self-fulfilling prophecies.

I am fascinated by the X-cash project, however I have noticed that the blockchain is already occupying over 4 Gb of space on my computer in this very early stage stage of the coin. Why is it so "heavy"? If it is so heavy already now, how will the growing size be sustainable on the long run?

Indeed, because of the 300kb block size and the airdrop distribution, the blockchain size rose up quickly. This is something we were aware of at the beginning.
But when we switch to bulletproof transactions in late October the size increase will reduce greatly.
Hope i was able to answer your question.

Yes. But I already have another one. Will in the future the existing blockchain be reduced in size somehow too? By October it will have grown even more and to carry around such a huge bundle of Gibabytes FOREVER would be quite a burden.

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin legalized in Uzbekistan and Iran on: September 09, 2018, 10:14:05 AM
News have emerged in Bitcoin being legitimazed in Uzbekistan.
A decree has been signed that permits the existence of cryptocurrency exchanges and other activity surrounding the industry.
At the same time Iran's government is allegedly about to recognize Cryptocurrency Mining as Industry.

https://inc42.com/buzz/cryptocurrency-this-week-while-uzbekistan-legitimises-bitcoin-iran-recognises-mining-as-industry-and-more/

Which are your thoughts on that? I find the Iranian news especially interesting, as energy prices are very cheap in Iran.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 09, 2018, 10:08:13 AM
LOL, how long before ETH goes in negative!! I know that whole market is affected but ETH is being affected the most % wise. I personally feel it is due to these fomo3d like games where few people are getting thousands of ETH and then they are dumping it on market. And maybe even some ICOs. Do you think there can be any other reason?

Well, for every one who is getting a lot of ETH there there is also some who are losing it. But you may be right, since the latters would probably be holders while the winnders would possibly be dumpers.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Cosby buys 750 BTC on: August 29, 2018, 11:50:51 PM
Reportedly Hollywood actor Bill Cosby has recently bought 750 BTC (around 5 $million at the time of the purchase) when he was advised to do so by his financial advisor, in an attempt to save some of his wealth from what's coming to him after all the rape accusations.

Im not sure if he is a rapist or not because I haven't looked at the evidence, but like or not, this is a clear use case of Bitcoin. His net worth is like half a billion USD, so I guess this is like a plan Z to keep 5 million which would be enough to live without working in case things go very bad for him.

I found this interesting nonetheless and worth mentioning here. Full news:

https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/bill-cosby-buys-750-bitcoin-btc-worth-5-million-to-save-500m-fortune-from-wife/

Interesting news. The question now is why he has invested only 5 Million in Bitcoins out of a fortune 100 times bigger which could easily end being seized because of his legal problems.
Protecting just 1% of hiw wealth is probably not the optimal choice.

Wow the days passed really fast, It's like that we are on Airdrop 2 last week/s but now we are on airdrop 13! Good luck to all participants and if you have any problem don't forget to visit us on our community chat support channel!  Cheesy
Yes,  time flies very fast. That's why we need to vote for our bright future today.
https://xiphos.exchange/vote - Spend only few minutes to register and vote every 24 hours.
https://aiodex.com/vote -  You can vote once after registration.
https://xiphos.exchange/vote doesn't work for me today. Probably it has to do with yesterday hack. I would not be surprised some coin votes vanished again after they solve this problem.

Which hack are you talking about? Anything the privcy community should know? Already the experience at BiteBTC has been a disappointment for many.
