Yes patience is the key to success in cryptocurrency, as it is very volatile. Without patience, we investors cannot gain more profit. Just see, when the bitcoin was just $1 per coin in 2010 when it just started, it peaked at around $ 20000 a coin not so long ago after falling and rising in prices in between the period. Now it is traded more than $ 8000 per coin. So given the volatile of the currencies, we need patience for better profit.

Well, not all the competitors will win. One wins, another stands first runner up, other second runner up and so on. Every project gets progress by performance. So in case of cryptocurrencies, not all coins will do better and survive. Some of them will fail. So the best way to choose good coin is do research.

Not that hodling is bad thing. Which coins you are hodling on does matter. If you are hodling a bullshit coin, there are little chances for it to go on a bullish run. I think for a small investor, he or she should opt for altcoins that are lower in prices, meaning you can buy more coins for small amount of money. BTC is very much costly and you need to invest much money for higher profit. But on the contrary, if you buy the coins that are down in prices with small investment, it will give you more benefits in the long run. So go for small altcoins like ripple, cardano, stellar, NEM, verge, tron, cindicator, siacoin.   

Governments cannot kill cryptos because of its benefits that surpass its demerits. Crypto is par of Blockchain technology that most governments are embracing even those who flatly reject cryptocurrencies. If they wanted to ban the cryptos, they would ban it years ago (it has been almost 9 years since first crypto was established in 2009). What they can do is regulate them. Regulation is after all is a good step for cryptos to stabilize.
