1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining equipment on: September 11, 2022, 07:19:59 AM
or a huge whale simply starts swapping eth to etc and

eth tanks while etc rises greatly in price.

60 million premined and 12 million given to developers.

50 million mined

of the 122 million above only 15 million staked.

It wont take much to tank eth if some has enough eth to swap into etc

1 million eth buys 50 million etc

that would drive the price of etc way way way up.

If this move happens it will be in Oct or Nov.

all in all the next 3 months will be very very interesting.

Did you see ETH development path for the years to come?
Most of new stuff is around the corner, merge is just prerequisite for new economy model nothing more.
People are to much focusing on one point and forgetting about bigger picture.

Eth will tank in price right after the merge, people with big bags will buy some more eth cheap, people with small amounts will sell in the first sign of price drop.
Few years ahead you will not be able to enter ETH train with same amount of money, we saw that with BTC.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How bad can it get? on: July 14, 2022, 02:12:25 PM
This time it will be much worse, because people are under the impression that they will mine 2-3 years in red and then resurface in the next bull run, that will probably be the case with BTC but not with other coins, maybe one in a thousand.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How bad can it get? on: July 13, 2022, 04:46:38 PM
Safer bet would be to invest in BTC after next big dip sub $10K
How is that not a gamble too? At least with video cards, the investment can only lose half of it's value.

Maybe I formulated that sentence wrong, I meant to say that if you want to put some money in crypto you can drop same amount of money with lees energy and time if you buy the coin in the first place.

We know how BTC story goes, only 1% of human mankind using it currently, at the same time flow of BTC is lower and lower after every halving, by the end of  this year we should have some new regulating laws across EU that will finally make path for corporate money to go in BTC full speed ahead not only dip in toe finger but completely. That looks as something worth investing from the current perspective, if path stays clear from obstructions from governments.

Video cards can lose only half?
It can lose much more if you buy at the top of mining cycle, and sell in the bear market after new generation goes on the shelf + price of electricity

Keep in mind that you cannot expect same pattern like we had with Nvidia 10xx and AMD 5xx, 4xx in this cycle where people sold old stuff higher then they paid them in 2017-2018.
I hear a lot of noise from youtubers about accumulating cards and sell them on new cycle, that seems like using last cycle pattern that could easily be complete wrong path especially if asic mining prevail completely.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How bad can it get? on: July 13, 2022, 03:09:32 PM
After we enter recession in full, somewhere after this winter we are probably hitting 4-7K again.
Asic miners will be cheaper then ever and GPU mining long gone this time, if that will be a thing again remain to see, I do not expect to see so big price jump to use GPU on any coins currently on the market.

GPU mining will not go anywhere, there are always new coins to shift your hashrate into with the hardware but profitability will vary with time. Might now be as profitable as it was this cycle again ever again though.

New hardware is always be more efficient and markets get saturated with new entrants and it will squeeze out all those who can't afford it. Driving costs up & profitability down.
It will reach equilibrium with time but it wall also mean only hobbyists are into it or full scale industrialists.

There will not be room for small ventures much longer unless you have other incomes to subsidize your mining costs with electricity etc from elsewhere.

 Grin
This is "wisdom" that can be heard  from crypto youtubers that are basically living from equipment they got from companies and or a huge discounts for equipment they buy with their money.

This bear market will not be the same as previous cycles so don't look for any patterns regarding coins or equipment.
Positive wave will eventually come but will it be high enough to cover all off the burned land remains to see.

People who think to copy paste 2018-2020 period and use same GPU mining strategy for cycle  2022-2025 could be crushed heavily.
To run something as a business for few years month after month in red is not a business but gambling.
Every gamble can be Win or Lose, but if you gamble time after time eventually you go home empty pockets.

Safer bet would be to invest in BTC after next big dip sub $10K

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080Ti ETH hash miner 2022 edition on: July 03, 2022, 11:50:43 AM
I used to run my 1080ti on NBminer with strap 1 and older drivers (460.91.03)

40,6 MH and 150W, MSI card with Micron memory

These days cards like this are much better on some core intensive algos then on memory algos especially on summer days  Grin
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Too late to start a mining rig? on: July 03, 2022, 06:58:48 AM
It's already too late unless you can get RTX 2080 Ti for 250$, if this doesn't happen it's better to stay away from mining and this is even after you've calculated your electricity expenses first, in some countries mining sucks right now.
RTX 2080 Ti are very hot graphics cards and are inferior in terms of profit to GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Now it is better to buy video cards with lower power consumption and DDR6 memory, which does not heat up during mining, so as not to be spent on additional ventilation and more powerful power supplies.
I'd buy a RTX 2080ti over a RTX 3060 Ti I just like that graphic card, it's like an Asic miner made in heaven lol, imagine having 8 2080Ti in a rig, this will set me up for 2025, may we all live to see more than 2025, amen.

In 2025 that card will not make you a good contender in the mining race simply because there will be more efficient cards, 3 years is a long time if you look from technology point....
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth 2.0 can be delayed to 2024... on: July 02, 2022, 07:01:06 PM
Eth will stabilize and go up in price after POS, simply because there will be smaller amount of coins produced daily, burn process will still cause deflation, staked eth will remove some coins from daily usage etc....
POS will displace small people from the system, game has become to big for small guys if you don't count in staking pools.

Price correction will come eventually, how long will it take? probably few years.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - a joke or a way to make money? on: December 25, 2021, 07:37:04 AM
You should really correct the name of your subject to this:

Dogecoin - a joke or AND a way to make money.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hasharate low for a few days (1070 ti) on: May 16, 2021, 09:10:02 AM
I have had a 1080ti get water damage it then would only use 75 watts and hash at 10mh

you may have damaged the card.
Confused 🙈, what do you mean by water damaged? Can a GPU spoilt by exposing to water? If you dry under the sun for hours it will start working again, if not working properly it's still not well dried I believe

You can try drying electronics under the sun, but that doesn't solve the fact that some parts will get oxidation on them.
Oxidation means bigger resistance and that can mess with all kind of circuitry on the board, causing effects like partly working card, non working card, unstable card and so on.

Don't count to solve this without ultrasonic bath cleaning procedure.

Also if you didn't do anything with the card, then just try the card on other machine, this could easily be some kind of power problem, inspect 6-8 pin connectors on the card and PSU side.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Liquid stuff on GPUS on: March 14, 2021, 07:24:16 AM
One of my gpus had a leakage I didn't know what it was, but suspected it was from the thermal compound. I had it running at < 60C at 65 TDP. It started to give me problems and eventually windows wouldn't detect it. I then sent it to the manufacturer and got a replacement. From experience, said leakage will lead to bad news. If your card is still under warranty I'd use it and RMA it, if not replace the thermal pads.

Problems that you had probably didn't come from thermal pads leaks in the first place it was just coincidence.
RMA at this state of market is just not advisable or may even be rejected if the cards is working normal.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: March 09, 2021, 05:36:47 PM
Anyone knows what's up with ETC wallet on Poloniex, its under maintenance for over a week now, any info regarding that? Huh
13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex - ETC desposits and confirmation time on: December 07, 2020, 05:59:11 AM
I don't think that they'll love to see their coin being delisted to any exchange and getting the refund. That's all that they've got. I don't know much about how long those confirmations will take place for ETC. But they wouldn't set a lot of confirmations if it will bring trouble to their exchange.
It's for the sake of the safety of the deposit.
Ethereum Classic's average block confirmations time is approximately 15 seconds. Binance's required 500 confirmations which is about 2 hours is more than okay. I don't understand why an exchange would set to 595,000 confirmations. That's over 100 days of waiting for the deposit to appear in one's account  Grin

Exactly, why even have coin listed there if you need to wait for 3 months after you make transaction, that's just absurd in every way, if they think that coin network is compromised they should just block deposits and wallet competently or just delisted coin from their system.

In a less time you can have package delivered  from China with boat over the ocean then to have ETC available on Polo.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][$MUSIC] Musicoin Blockchain Upgrades to V3.0(“Quantitative Tightening 🎸 on: December 07, 2020, 05:53:38 AM
Seems nothing is working. I can't connect to the block explorer to get my nonce to make the transaction. And even if I connected then I wouldn't be able to connect to the node because it doesn't seem to connect to the MUSIC node on MEW to broadcast the transaction.

Anyone got any working nodes or are they all offline?

I had same situation like you on MEW, after that I tried the same thing but this time from MCrypto and there I managed to connect to the network and broadcast transaction.

I hope that helps in your situation also Wink

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing ZKP privacy without trusted setup on: December 06, 2020, 08:51:43 AM
I have a Zcoin QT Core wallet version 0.14.0.5-4c7291cdb (64-bit). I just installed Firo but it is mnemonic words based and the Zcoin Core wallet was not. Do I have to send coins from the old Zcoin wallet to new Firo wallet to get them in the new wallet?

Did you try inplace upgrade over the last available Zcoin QT wallet?

https://github.com/firoorg/firo/releases

"
Firo v0.14.1.2

INSTRUCTIONS
As always, please backup your wallet prior to updating or testing for safety!

This release renames the default data directory name to .firo and the zcoin.conf file to firo.conf. The rename process is opt-in and will not run unless explicitly set.

If you are using the daemon, start it with:
./firod -migratetofiro

If you are using a custom data directory (-datadir), please migrate manually by renaming zcoin.conf to firo.conf and/or your data directory.

Lelantus is set to activate on block 336888.

We expect there to be minor updates and bug fixes following this release.
"

They didn't provide other instructions regarding the new wallet or how to start fresh with your balance if you have private keys.

16  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex - ETC desposits and confirmation time on: December 05, 2020, 11:20:55 AM
And that seems big enough, but 595 000 confirmations on Poloniex just seems ridiculous
That's the protocol that Polo has made after the attacks that were made for ETC's network. It may seem to be high but that's them and that's what they think the most secured amount of confirmations to be deposited into their network. It's not their problem that they've increased the number of confirmations but it's ETCs network and vulnerability.

Who would make deposit for their ETC on that exchange if they need to wait for 2.5-2.8 months to be able to trade?

If ETC team paid for listing there they should really need to get refund Grin
17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex - ETC desposits and confirmation time on: December 05, 2020, 07:13:46 AM
AFAIK, a lot of exchanges increased the confirmation times a couple of months back due to the 51% attack. Maybe they just never fixed it? Because looking at the trading volume on CMC, it appears that this has been going for a while now.

You are probably right...

This is from Coinbase:

How many confirmations does Coinbase require for ETC transactions?
91,000 confirmations.

And that seems big enough, but 595 000 confirmations on Poloniex just seems ridiculous
18  Economy / Exchanges / Poloniex - ETC desposits and confirmation time on: December 04, 2020, 04:03:10 PM
So I just take a peek at their ETC deposits rule and the message is as follows:

ETC deposits are available after 595000 network confirmations. Shocked

Is that some kind of error or would customers really need to wait for few months before they can use their ETC they send to that exchange?

19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: September 15, 2019, 06:40:47 AM
Yes we can, I am not interested in philosophy just in amount of money i lose with each withdraw.
On this list of more than 80 exchanges they are in top 3  most expensive regarding the fees.

https://withdrawalfees.com/exchanges

20  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: September 02, 2019, 09:21:47 AM
What is current withdraw fee for BTC on HitBTC?

I have found somewhere that they have withdrawal fee around 15$ Shocked

All other exchanges have 50K Satsohi arround 5$ or less.

flat fee -0.0015 BTC

So they are charging 3x then most and even 10x then lowest. Huh
