1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots? on: December 29, 2020, 05:17:27 PM
Bitcoin topped out at $28395 for 2020, just a few days left until newyear. If history serves as any guide to the future we might see bitcoin drop some 80% from it's high to its future low.
Of course past patterns is no guaranty it will happen again in the same manner, but it is strongly adviced to be careful going forward.

Cryptocurrencies can be very price unstable, just take a look at the recent meltdown in XRP. Once bitcoin turn downward it might be fast and furious.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots? on: December 28, 2020, 05:15:22 PM
Downside risk is much greater now than it was earlier this year.

Is it? Would you call institutions "idiots"? Many of them are purchasing at this price. This is why we are sustaining these price levels.

Let's frame it in another way. When Bitcoin will be trading at $100k+ I'm sure you wouldn't call people who bought at $30k like that. The downside risk is still the same percent-wise. We're just dealing with bigger numbers. One can buy fractions of a Bitcoin and still be buying only $100 or $500 worth of Bitcoins. I hope you understand my perspective.

I think your perspective is that you would like to fleece the newbs as much as possible, and I get that. Not sure what the newbs get out of it, once again FOMO proves to be powerful.

It's clear to everybody that bitcoin is being actively pumped, question is for how long. One thing we do know for sure is that the higher the price, the higher the risk.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots? on: December 28, 2020, 04:25:32 PM
What I don't get is that people assume that bitcoin will climb forever. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it probably wont.

Ask yourself this. How long will bitcoin be around. My assumption: for as long as nothing better will outcompete it.

Fact: bitcoin is no longer the leader techwise, it has been proven beyond any doubt that bitcoin is too slow, too expensive and has many other problems and flaws.

Result: bitcoin is mostly useless in replacing banks and even fiat when doing your grocery shopping at your local supermarket.

What is the situation in 2020: relegated to pump and dump and that's mostly it. Yes, you can use it to buy SOME items and services if you are prepared to pay expensive fees and wait forever.

It's just begging to be run over by a better coin - like the typewriter getting killed by the pc. And this shitcoin is worth $27K. For how long?

Could have bought it in March this year for sub $4000.

Downside risk is much greater now than it was earlier this year.

Is it the mentally challenged that are getting fleeced right now.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin FAILED? on: December 27, 2020, 12:06:22 PM
The wall street bitcoin pump continues. Since this is a zero sum game, someone is gonna be left holding the bag laden with big losses. You know, wall street used to do this in the good old days as well. A 100 years ago the big wall street brokers used to get togheter and agree on pumping some blue chip  stock, then they would dump on retail investors. Pump & Dump has been around for a very long time and is alive and kicking today as well.

The funny thing is the fact that bitcoin isn't even any good by todays crypto standards. If bitcoin came out NOW as a NEW cryptocoin, crypto enthusiasts would laugh their asses off and call it slow, inferior and insecure compared to the best cryptotech we have in 2020. Put simply, just a shitcoin.
Most people here tell a story of bitcoin not failing because the price is rising, there is no correlation there, what will the same people say if the price drops hard?

Go figure, it's a crazy world out there.

Bitcoin is getting further and further away from the guy in the street, and is now some rich hedgefunds 1% elite plaything.

The guys in the street already become elite people because they've put their trust in them from the start and may have been among the hedge fund players. But their role has also delivered fantastic bitcoin prices.

Bitcoin has never left the small circle, the fact is we can still buy bitcoin for as little as $1.

And how much would it cost in fees to buy bitcoin for $1, it would cost you a lot more to just buy one dollar worth of bitcoin, thats part of the problem.

That FUDster can't be giving any proof because he dosn't have any proof. It's just a blatant attack for reasons unknown. Kind of sad when someone with low morals stoop to these kinds of malicious FUDing to try to scare away others.

The strength of the project and the quality of the team will show everybody just how wrong that guy is.  Cool

Bitvaluta must be gaining some traction because the thread just got their first trolls. Could be the same guy controlling more accounts trying to spread FUD.

Might be angry BTV is growing, taking away scrypt hashpower from other scrypt projects.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: March 19, 2020, 12:21:02 AM
I thought you made list of the best POW/POS coin in this thread  Grin
For me, the best newcomer coin is the coin that have fair mainnet launch (announce to community),
and have little or no premine for their developers, this is to prevent dump later if the coin price growing.

ETH had a huge premine, and it is only next to Bitcoin in marketcap now. Premine does not equate to shitcoin or scam.

Strong team and growing followers, here is a lot to like. Wallet is rock solid and confirmations are very fast. Their forum is very friendly and helpful.

People should get some Bitvaluta, this coin will moon for certain.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shit bounties are getting attention and hype! Stop doing these bounties! on: March 03, 2020, 12:44:21 PM
Would it not be more constructive to come up with a list of the best bounty campaigns, rather than this rant.

What in your opinion is the BEST bounty campaigns right now?

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: March 03, 2020, 09:10:15 AM
@Mindin. Mimblewimblecoin hehehe?

I predict that 2020 and 2021 will be the hype of Mimblewimble privacy technology hehehe. Litecoin have begun adopting it. The next adopters might be the other old altcoins similar to dogecoin. The last would be the scamcoins hehehehe.

With a provable supply cap of 20,000,000, MWC is a scarce pure proof of work Mimblewimble based coin that enables greater network scalability, privacy and fungibility than legacy blockchain protocols. All transactions on the base layer use Greg Maxwell's Coin Join with his Confidential Transactions and signature aggregation. MWC is the technologically superior ghost money.

https://www.mwc.mw/

Surely mimblewimble is where all the gpu miners would move to as the Ethereum switches to POS. Currently large majority of GPU miners are mining Ethereum and they need better options to switch to. But this would also create a large surge in hashrates for every GPU centric coins making mining further unprofitable.

Would depend on the electricity cost localy. If the profitability takes a hit, a lot of those gpu's may become unprofitable and offline.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: March 02, 2020, 10:11:34 PM
Guys, stop doing this strategy, these coins that looks technically good - good on whitepaper, in most cases it is just a coin that profits on buzzwords. But if you think what makes coin valuable it is community - number of users. Not coin with better technical parameters. So avoid these quick profit schemes and buy real undervalued coins.

Number of users mining are steadily climbing. For instance Bitvaluta has seen a massive increase in miners and hashrate, so clearly it's getting more populare.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: March 02, 2020, 04:53:37 PM
Personally, I believe the best POS coin for 2020 will be ETH once they move to POS algorithm this year.
ETH's POS feature implementation is highly anticipated by this community. But, for some reasons they keep on delaying it. I agree that ETH will be the best POS/POW coin in 2020 when they will be having staking feature included. I'm not sure how ethereum will be withstanding against its good price levels with this kind of enormous supply. Ethereum is not having any economic rule for limited supply which means it will get dumped hard at any time because we cannot predict all the whales to continue their holding forever.

As of now, ethereum is doing good in markets hence mining and staking it will be highly profitable right away but anything could change in coming days because already ICO markets is down which must be the one of the best support thing for ethreum's market value.

Would it be a fair question to ask that Ethereum is moving to POS because it has played out its role and is now running on empty. I'm talking about most of these ICO tokens have been proven to be total scams, and ETH price is in a stalemate.

Has the crypto market had enough of Ethereum and now they have to come up with this POS stunt, alternatively ETH would just very slowly wither and die with time.

Is there any proof in the pudding here that noone wants to highlight?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: March 02, 2020, 06:01:47 AM
Lol! Let's take a look at their prices first. These prices are based on Coingecko as none of them are listed on coinmarketcap.

Talleo (TLO): $0.00008784
Bitvaluta (BTV): No information whatsoever
MicroPaymentCoin (MPC): $0.00030785

No of these coins have reached to such a level where we can really debate on whether they are best newcomers of 2020. Personally, I believe the best POS coin for 2020 will be ETH once they move to POS algorithm this year.

With the price conditions and also not listing on coin marketcap, I think it will take a long time for the coins to be targeted by investors. Investors will definitely choose coins that have been listed at large exchangers and also large liquidity

That goes without saying, its a given. Once some or all of these get listed on coinmarketcap they'll get more attention than what they are atm.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **Best POW/POS newcomer coin in 2020** on: February 27, 2020, 04:21:03 PM
Does it have to be new? I mean maybe you can invest into something older? As we all know here the new coins that are not tested by time are usually bad investments and that is exactly why many people suggest staying away from them until they prove themselves to be a good contender. I personally wouldn't go into anything that is not 6 months old, I probably stay away from all the new ones under 1 year and aim at staying away from under 2 year as well.

I personally have bitcoin, ethereum stuff like that but if I had to do any PoS coin I would probably go with tezos, cosmos, waves and stuff like that because like them or dislike them but we all know what they are and who the creators and how the coin is doing which is all it matters for me and at least I can be sure for what I am investing into.

I've got this feeling people dont want to spread the word about what they would consider to be good startup coins, they want to mine those in peace first and load up as much as possible. Afterwards when they have what they want they tell others to buy and mine.
So does it have to be new, this poll is about new coins, not old projects with an already high marketcap.

The coins that have been tested by time, then you basically missed the train at the station so to speak in regards to getting in early when the price is low and the pools arent swamped with miners, like todays Ethereum and other older projects are.

Would you consider Zilliqa. Know it is older than six months.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAG] X11 POS/POW+Masternodes MAGNET / magnetwork.io on: May 17, 2018, 05:16:42 PM
Weird MAG don't reach more visualization, they fixed MN issue same as dash before SPORK fork.

They come with a other solution to keep true decentralization ....

They also have big schedule roadmap take a bit of delay cause of malicious miner / pool

Don't listen the FUD.

Holders and buyers will win big in the end, just need to be patient.
