Indeed, all anonymity features aside, Dreamcoin is still one of the best new coins to launch in the last while, as previously mentioned, no IPO, no premine, no instamine, multipool coming, very generous POS interest, x11 algo.

There are several options for the coin to bring in anonymity, which imho will be the icing on the cake. I really cannot understand people who are dumping at the moment, if it wasn't for trolls spreading FUD about the dev the price would easily be at least 2x what it is right now.

Yes, and dev has said he is working on it, has given us a deadline and has also hired someone to implement it, I don't see the problem.

Really excited about this coin, for such early stages it is clear that there is a strong community of people who know what they're talking about supporting the coin and am happy to be part of that community.

I only took an interest in the coin after seeing it plummet in price after the dev "disappeared" for all of 24 hours and all the weak hands dumped. I saw an opportunity to make a quick buck on the upswing and managed to get a few buys in at less than 6000sat. Not much, I don't have a massive portfolio but sold a few darkcoins I bought months ago to stock up on a few dreams to resell.

After reading this thread and doing a bit of research on the coin and those forming the hub of this new community, I've decided to stay in this coin and increase my position for a long term hold. If the dev delivers what he says he can, and if any of the bounties that are on offer get claimed, then this coin is certain to explode in price. I've been pretty lucky in my investments over the last few years, first bought LTC at 5c, bought a few million dogecoins at 1-10 satoshi at its first exchange debut and got into darkcoin very early also. As a college student, I couldn't afford to invest in any of these heavily and my gains mostly went on boring tuition fees and living expenses, I actually kick myself regularly at how much I could have made if I kept reinvesting... I have a strong feeling that Dreamcoin is another coin that it is possible to make +100x returns on at this point and am hoping for the best.

I can see Dreamcoin hitting a similar price to Darkcoin over the next month or two, will be waiting and holding eagerly until that point.

I'm genuinely at a loss as to how this is supposed to work. How are the coins guaranteed at launch? Unless the dev already owns a massive amount of gold or is a billionaire I cannot see how this is even possible.

Please ELI5 how you expect to back up the coin on day 1 to be worth what you say it will be in gold, and how once it is released it will maintain this price?

Just throwing it out there but is there any chance the recent fork/bug was caused by someone implementing a 51% attack on the network?

As this coin is SHA256 there are many individuals and unknown pools with huge amounts of hash rate that may have switched to Preminecoin and dominated the network for a short while and inserted 6 false blocks in a row somehow?

I'm no expert in this or anything but I can see how this is possible, if premine was forked directly from the bitcoin client there may have been many miners or programmers who have been working on 51% attacks on bitcoin that may have taken the opportunity to test out their attack method on a clonecoin with a very low,  hash rate.

Anyone with more knowledge think this is possible?

Suggestion: Release bootstrapped client or a client that connects directly top a hosted blockchain somewhere, more people will download and install.

When promoting a new altcoin it is a huge advantage to not have to download the blockchain, for people like me with many wallets that can eat up loads of hard drive space. Seeing as all blocks are mined, is there much need for everyone to have a local blockchain?
