2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: February 22, 2015, 11:10:45 PM
No post here for 3 months... I thought may be it is time for an update about how the story is unfolding.

The coding of Ethereum is still going strong. Latest can be observed here:
  http://github.com/ethereum

As of right now they have released their proof-of-concept "PoC 8".
  https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/1864/ethereum-poc-8-released

I, like many other developers, have been learning and experimenting smart contract development on Ethereum "testnets" for many months.

It works.

Will the genesis fail? Will the Ether economics hold? Will a fork of it (say from IBM) succeed better?

Who knows... but clearly Ethereum is already *real*.... and if somehow its first official blockchain fails, then it will be tweak and revived one way or another.

No need for cop... the new Gox will have an advanced cold storage security system
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merge Mining Scrypt Coins - Get 4 times your hash power! DOGE/LTC/DGC/CAT/42 on: March 04, 2014, 01:58:01 AM
...
Say you normally mine Doge coin. You can choose not to mine the other main chain coins if you would like so it would be more like this.

DOGE  1 Mhs
HUC    1 Mhs
ORG    1 Mhs
PTC    1 Mhs
USC    1 Mhs

...

Are you 100% sure?

Excerpt from the documentation ( http://manicminer.in/docs/mining ):

Mining power is automatically balanced between main chain coins, in order to maximize the probability of finding also a valid share for secondary coins and complete a block as soon as possible.

Bear in mind that your power will only be divided among main chain coins, but it will be full for all secondary ones.

At the moment, we are allocating more more power to DogeCoin because it is more profitable. This could change in the future, because the pool will adapt its strategy to get maximum rewards for our miners.

You don't need to do anything, no coin choice, your power will be allocated automatically. Just make sure you get wallets for each coin in order to receive your rewards.

It is not clear. My interpretation of the doc is that you have no choice of the hashing power repartition, and you simply do not get paid for the hashing you provided for a coin when its wallet is not setup.

Can someone from ManicMiner confirm? (their forum is 404)
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - See new KarmaWall www.ikarmacoin.com - #2 on CoinWarz on: March 03, 2014, 06:59:59 PM
At 1 satoshi now on MintPal.  Can anyone say "getting in on the ground floor?"
Hopefully this is the lowest it will get, but just a reminder to everyone that technically it can still go lower.

An exchange can choose to list KARM against a lower value currency (e.g. LTC/XPM/DOGE).

It did happen before with IFC... it was effectively exchanged below 1 sat for a while (and occasional buyers at 1 sat were quickly absorb by arbitration).

I am sad that KARM is going so low, I thought it would rebound from 2 sats. I was wrong.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEIT] ZEITCOIN -- 100 MIL GIVEAWAY! - EXCHANGE POS/POW Launched on: March 01, 2014, 07:49:05 PM
I was mining all night at hashstrike since launch, with over 8 MH, and I didn't receive a single ZEIT. I don't know if they just outright stole it, or if there's some sort of issue there.
Also mining since beginning on hashstrike at ~8MH (glad I did, it was among the first pool up).

Withdrawal was not working earlier today, but now it works all fine for me. I had both manual and auto withdrawal succeed in the last few hours.

The Zeit are confirmed in my wallet.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEIT] ZEITCOIN -- 100 MIL GIVEAWAY! - EXCHANGE POS/POW Launched on: March 01, 2014, 01:34:55 PM
I did not succeed yet to withdraw from Hashstrike.

Getting: "Failed to update your account: Unable to connect to RPC server for coin address validation"

Additionally, when attempting to create a support ticket, I always get "There was a problem sending your message. Please try again.".

Anyone knows something about this?

Update: Now fixed. Great pool, First one I found up on launch. Thanks.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - 6 Exchanges - Rewards about to change - Get in now on: February 26, 2014, 03:25:35 PM
Nice looking logo with colorful elephant (and such) is one thing, but I believe what some currency are missing is to keep in mind the practical value of a *simple* monochrome denomination symbol (e.g. BTC).

The logo should be an appealing/marketing interpretation of a simpler/practical official symbol (should be like a font character that can fit in a few pixels).

I am not an artist, so I suggest here only a concept around two highly recognizable symbols: The dollar sign + the yin yang.

Graphically:
  - The dollar sign has a single middle line cut at the perimeter of the outer circle (do you see the yin yang?)
  - One can choose to enhance this into a marketing version with two reverse elephants heads (the ends of the S are the trunks and the two small half circles are the ears... do you see it?)

Just my humble contribution, not worth taking any credit. If any talented artists like it... then please feel free to derive something better.

9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinex.PW vs Cryptsy on: February 25, 2014, 02:46:06 AM
Coinex all the way. Cryptsy fees are at least 2-3x higher and they tax when you place the bid. Coinex taxes the transaction.

This post is just plain wrong. I advise people to check with the exchanges to get the facts.

As of right now:

Coinex is 0.2% sell and 0.2% buy
Cryptsy is 0.3% sell and 0.2% buy

Cryptsy does not charge for placing orders... the fee is a percentage on all/portion of the transaction *filled*. Like everyone else.

10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinex.PW vs Cryptsy on: February 24, 2014, 09:45:40 PM
I am a long time trader on most exchanges, and as of right now Cryptsy is way better than coinex.pw.

Coinex trading history disappear after a while, so unless you write down everything, you loose track of what you did.

Worst, coinex.pw support is really bad. All my coins withdrawal fail since one week because TFA is not working anymore for me (works fine on other exchanges),

Coinex.pw support is not following up.

Update 3/20/14: It has been one month now and coinex.pw is still preventing all withdrawal on my account. This is ~4 BTC worth. support is not following up.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarket.io | New, self-moderated support and news thread. on: February 22, 2014, 03:45:25 PM
Today it seems something is preventing BTC withdrawal. Was working fine for me yesterday.

The exchange is working great for me beside this glitch. Thanks.

Edit: This problem is now solved. Thanks.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin Launched February 4 - NO PRE-MINE - 2+GHs on: February 06, 2014, 02:06:12 AM
Seems a bit overprice above 6 for now.

Usually new coins stay near the miner/dumper "price", which would be around 3 satoshis for this coin.

May be my calculation is off... anyway, I am placing a few order to accumulate around 3 just in case I am right.

Good luck all.

Why is 6 high?

because he's trolling and wants to buy low, then make several thousand dollars in a night. he's wrong, market has already proven it. free market always decides, trolls try to manipulate. this is common knowledge if you been in the game long enough.

If you look at my previous posts you will see that it is the first time I was opening a discussion about my strategy to use the miner/dumper pricing to set my entry point with new coins... should have thought it would be misinterpreted and I kinda regret it now.

Sorry, please ignore my previous post and I will keep my "trolling" to myself ;-)

Update 2/12/14:
Just to wrap things up... in the end Karma was not much different than most coins. Miner/dumper pricing is a strong force driving the price levels in the early days of *most* new coins.

I did accumulate >150M at 4 and 3 sats, and still have open orders at 3 (today's steady buy side price). I have also a buy order at 2 just in case, but low probability to get that one filled.

The dynamic is now changed with the KGW algo deployment. Better days ahead, good luck all.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRN] CRYPTONIUM COIN - EXCHANGE UP! Low diff, jump IN! on: February 02, 2014, 09:07:04 PM
Withdrawal from http://pool.cryptonium.org is not working for me.

I tried Manual withdrawal. There is an acknowledge that the request is accepted but it is not in the "transaction" page and nothing more happen. It has been two days now.

I tried setting up automatic withdrawal, and again, it is not working.

Send two support e-mails. No response.

Since this is the "official" pool for cryptonium, anyone here knows what is going on?

Update:

My problem has been resolved by psomas2 (the pool administrator).

It relates to my account having withdrawal disabled because it was flag as "dangerous". My account had >60% of the total pool coins.

At this point, I got all my coins in my wallet.

All is good with this pool and its administrator.

Thanks all for the assistance.

I think there must be X confirms so you qualify to withdraw your coins

Thanks, but all my coins are confirmed. I did stop mining there a while ago and I have zero unconfirmed.

My username is "cryptok" (in case the owner is checking this post).

Anyone else having trouble with manual withdrawal?

18  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGWatcher 1.3.4, a GUI/monitor for CGMiner & BFGMiner to help minimize downtime on: January 31, 2014, 11:46:40 AM
I believe "coin" settings should be per pool, not per profile.

I sometimes have failover to a different coin, particularly when dealing with a new coin.

====

Also, I suggest to add the following "coin" in the drop down list: "Other" and "Mixed"

"Mixed" would be for multipool, middlecoin, Hashcow...
"Other" is for when the coin is not yet in the drop down list.

====

Congrat about your new job (just saw it on the other thread).

Milone,

"Current total hash rate" is not calculated correctly when a GPU is disabled. Just reporting as a minor issue, not blocking to me.

Running 1.3.5.2

Thx.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN JUST LAUNCHED] *EarthCoin* Is Here To Make A Splash For 2014! on: January 16, 2014, 02:34:24 PM
The marketing message "will not be stopped by any man, or any army" is potentially a problem in the context of some countries.

Owning or promoting this coin might be perceived as a subversive political action... for some, the prudent thing to do is to no get involved.

I am not making statement about agreeing or not about the message. I own quite a lot of EAC, but I believe that an anti-government tone is harmful to its global adoption.

TL;DR
Please drop the "will not be defeated by...any army" from the marketing.
