Hi.

There is a msg put up on Cryptopia that LUX wallet is in maintenance, waiting for an update from LUXCoin team.
What would be this update they are talking about and how soon approximately do you plan to have this fixed?

thank you.

Is ver 0.7.1 available? I hear people mentioning 0.7.1.

This is a good article by Ledger that explains it further:
https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005165209-Receive-mining-proceeds

My question was, why *exactly* pool payments cause a large amount of small transactions as compared to payments sent from a wallet?
The article only explains the concept of dust, which I already know.

So?

Already listed on the exchange, it's here https://aiodex.com/exchange/GEEK_BTC

This is not a real exchange: the only coin it has is GEEKCASH. I (or anyone who writes in PHP) can create an "exchange" like that.

I would like to draw everyone's attention to a problem going on with LUXCoin wallet on Cryptopia. The chain is currently almost 13 hrs behind, deposits are delayed accordingly. This situation has been going on for a few weeks already. Fist, the wallet was in maintenance for almost a week, now the wallet is lagging. What is the problem with this? Cryptopia is the top volume exchange for LUX, why can't Cryptopia people afford to buy a decent SSD drive to sync the chain properly? Why is it even a problem? Current block height on Cryptopia is 446239, whereas actual current block is 446808.

Most of the time the cause of the lagging is due to people ignoring the warning "do not mine directly to your exchange address". It cause a large amount of dust to be generated and slows down transactions for everyone else. Then they have to put it into maintenance and dust the wallet. Which then takes a long time because of the large amount of dust.

Thanks for your explanation. Can you explain why exactly payment from mining pools cause much dust compared to transactions sent from private wallets? Will it help Cryptopia if miners raise payment threshold on a mining pool?

Is solution for 310 posted somewhere?
I'm curious, but not curious enough to search for it  Grin

I doubt it ever existed. You don't give your money away for nothing, it just doesn't happen.

I would still like to emphasize the problem with LUXCoin going on at Cryptopia. Their chain is almost 13 hrs behind. Current LUX block height on Cryptopia is 446239, whereas actual current block is 446808. And they have only 4 LUX nodes listed in their config. I contacted support, they are aware of the problem, but they do nothing to solve it. Taking in consideration the fact that Cryptopia is the top volume exchange for LUX and that many people actually mine LUX for profit, I think this makes a very negative impact on the coin and its reputation in general.

Why can't the LUX devs somehow kick Cryptopia people or offer their help in resolving this matter? It's been going on for a few weeks already. First they put the LUX wallet in maintanance mode for almost a week, then they cannot sync the chain properly. Can we even be sure they are not doing it on purpose? What, they cannot afford a decent SSD drive to run the LUX wallet?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is some story behind this particular wallet with 310 BTC. You don't just give away your money. Do you know a lot of people who give away money to strangers? I don't. Thinking of reasons why someone could do it:

1. He can't use it himself due to some legal issues (has access to internet but no access to banking, for example). I don't believe in this story that he "is at the point where he does not care about larger amounts of money anymore". It's not how it works. Whenever you have more money, you start making more plans to spend it, and you don't consider that lot "a lot" anymore, thus you always want more. Everyone who went, say, from broke to middle class can prove it.
2. He is terminally ill or crippled and does not care.
3. He is doing it to prove someone some point (e.g. I'll burn my money in a fireplace, but I won't pay for your new car)
4. Maybe he's trying to prove the point that money, in fact, ruins your life instead of changing it for the better? What is this reference to charity? Most millionaires actually DO charity. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, just to name the few. Are they idiots? I think not. )
5. The funds are somehow locked in this wallet and he does not know the solution in full himself
6. He is actually not allowed to touch the funds (as per suggestion in one of previous posts), so he needs someone else to move them
7. The 310 problem has no solution (and it's not even included in the picture), he just took it himself. Now that the 310 BTC is claimed, why is Mr. Pip not disclosing the solution to the 310 BTC wallet? Maybe because it does not exist?
8. Maybe this picture is only a key to a much larger amount of BTC, so he needs help solving the first picture, and he'll try to solve the 2nd picture himself. ))

Would it not make sense to create, say, 10 wallets 31 BTC worth each? To give someone an extra opportunity? Why is it 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 310?

I don't think this could be actually called a "challenge". RSA large number factoring was a real challenge. It provided an incentive to create new algorithms, hardware devices, it attracted people to the problem. But what's the practical use of this "challenge"? Other than guessing someone else's weird riddles? I personally find it humiliating and condescending. I am not a hell of a programmer, but I can easily create a twisted "challenge" most people won't be able to solve, yet with an existing solution. With the amount of computer science knowledge needed to solve this, I'd personally better work on my own miner to live off devfee. At least, I'd be doing something useful.

p.s. I agree with one of the previous posters that this person is probably American. The niceness is probably due to the fact he's not a young person, I think he's in his 60s.

What's going on with Cryptopia LUX wallet? It's under maintenance for 4 days already. It kills the incentive to mine the coin, I think it has negative impact on coin reputation in general. Maybe the devs can step in and help Cryptopia people sort it all out?

And there are no any other LUX exchanges that I know of with decent trade volume.

Hi,

Are there any pools available except leafpool? I can't make their miner run. Another miner gotten off github won't connect to their pool.
Running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS CUDA 9.2.

please

Well we have to distinguish here between memory available and the memory that the driver allows us to use in a single buffer. For some reason the Nvidia OpenCL driver limits OpenCL that a single memory region may be at most 1/4th of the total memory in size. That said: the 144.5 miner code uses 2.8G, but requires that two buffers of 1.1G are created (and a 3rd with the missing 600 mb) ... so what happens here:
The check for enough total memory passes, but unfortunately the one for maximal single allocation fails.

Interestingly I just found out that CUDA has no such limitation and also sometimes it seems possible to allocate more then "CL_DEVICE_MAX_MEM_ALLOC_SIZE" tells on Nvidia (but not on AMD ... there it is a hard limit, but its often much higher then on Nvidia) ... so maybe I can do an option to ignore memory check on own risk ... hmm

I've yet to see a miner that uses OpenCL with NVidia cards. Everyone uses CUDA with them greens. ))
I just wanted to try it out just to find out if it's worth using this miner with 1060s for eqhash144.

Why is it not running on GTX 980 4gb, still?

For me only equihash96 is working on NVidia cards under Linux.

For equihash144 I get this msg:

as far as i know, you cant use 3gb cards on that specific algo on this specific miner Wink  (4gb+)
so its working as intended technically

It's not working on GTX980 4GB cards either. Same error msg.

Also note, equihash 144 is using less than 2GB RAM. It's the 192 that uses 2+ GBs.

Hi.

I "received" my payment 2hrs ago (amount is 0.00535060 BTC), according to pool stats, however, there is no transaction number shown next to payment as usual, and no payment was actually made. Coins left pool balance as though payment was done. What's the problem?
