In Bitnodes you only see the nodes that are listening and that are visible.
There are many hidden nodes that are not visible, nodes that are not listened to, they can be behind a firewall, Tor or because they are configured not to listen to the connections.

Where you can see the highest number of active nodes is on the page of https://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/charts/software.html
It currently shows +/- 43,300 but it is estimated that there are many more hosted on servers or in the cloud. There are probably many, many more.

Bitcoin Core PR Review Club

Quote
What is this?  A weekly club for reviewing Bitcoin Core PRs at 17:00 UTC on Wednesdays on IRC.

What’s it for?  To help newer contributors learn about the Bitcoin Core review process. The review club is not primarily intended to help open PRs get merged (although that might be a nice side-effect).

Who should take part?  Anyone who wants to learn about contributing to Bitcoin Core. All are welcome to come and ask questions!

Subtleties and Security

Quote
Abstract: This piece is written by Bitcoin Core maintainer and BitMEX guest writer, Michael Ford. Michael is the first recipient of the expanding HDR Global Trading Limited Bitcoin developer grant program. This follows on from Michael’s first piece for us: Build Systems & Security – Bitcoin Is Improving. In this new piece, Michael explains four security improvements to Bitcoin Core that he has been working on:

1. Fixing a hidden bug which prevented a security check from occurring,
2. Fixing a security weakness on Windows,
3. Solving a problem which weakened the random number generator caused by a failure to detect a function on MacOS, and
4. Adding tests for a discrepancy in the behaviour of the macOS linker, when compared to the documentation.

This work illustrates the importance of testing on multiple platforms.

Goldman Sachs: In 2019, $2.8 billion in Bitcoin was sent to currency exchanges from criminal entities.

Fun Fact: Goldman Sachs facilitated $6 billion in money laundering via 1MDB scandal between 2012-13.

Double standard much?

Bitcoin, Gold are Not Rising Because of Major Market Manipulation

Quote
Researchers at the University of Sussex Business School’s CryptoMarketRisk project team tracked trades across the safe-haven markets since March 2020. The analysis led them to spot large sell orders on gold futures, a literal pump-and-dump on copper futures, and large spoofing orders on bitcoin derivative exchanges.

Been saying this for years.

And its not like we weren't even warned.

People just stuck their fingers in their ears and repeated nah nah nah.

Yeah, they want the badger tied up with a short leash.

Hacker vende información de decenas de miles de usuarios de Ledger, Tezor y Keepkey

Quote

https://es.cointelegraph.com/news/hacker-sells-tens-of-thousands-of-ledger-tezor-and-keepkey-users-info

Bitcoin Pizza Day 10th Anniversary

The first purchase made with Bitcoins, 10,000BTC = 2 Pizzas, today with 10,000 Bitcoins... Cool
things have changed a bit. 1BTC/$9,225

- Although if we review the history of Bitcoin, it might be better to see in detail the dates of the first transaction, the first sale and finally the purchase of pizza:

Jan-12-2009 / Block 170 First transaction Bitcoin: Satoshi Nakamoto sent 10 BTC to Hal Finney.
Quote
One of the first supporters, adopters, contributors to bitcoin and receiver of the first bitcoin transaction was programmer Hal Finney. Finney downloaded the bitcoin software the day it was released, and received 10 bitcoins from Nakamoto in the world's first bitcoin transaction on 12 January 2009

Oct-12-2009 / Block 24835 First Bitcoin sale to Fiat.
Quote
When Bitcoin started out there wasn’t really a price for it since no one was willing to buy it. The first time Bitcoin actually gained value was on October 12, 2009 when Martti Malmi, a Finnish developer that helped Satoshi work on Bitcoin, sold 5050 Bitcoins for $5.02.

May-22-2010 / Block 57043 Pizza Day 10,000BTC.

- Primera transacción: Satoshi Nakamoto envia 10BTC a Hal Finney.
