61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][PRESALE][TRU] TRU REPUTATION NETWORK - ⚡️ 160,000 TRU TOKENS/160 ETH ⚡️ on: January 09, 2018, 06:42:11 AM
why not open bounty translation dev
and why stake full member same value stake hero/legendary member

1) that's a separate pool because we don't want to dilute the value for either the Pre-Sale or Translation pools (we want to make sure you get paid- I've been in this game long enough to see what can happen)

2) It looks like a problem with the BitcoinTalk Image proxy and we've forced a refresh, but that qualifies as a bug so send me your ETH wallet address in a DM- you just won our first security bounty Smiley

dev need report weekly this thread?

If you want accurate Stakes, it helps. We're monitoring otherwise, but for your own sake it'll be better to that but there isn't a specific cut off- just DM if you think we're wrong.

This is JOKE?

Bounty Pool Telegram ~ Bounty Pool BitcoinTalk Signatures

No, thx....

If you feel the priorities aren't aligned the market, then DM me- again, this is just part of a larger pool, I'm more than happy to openly discuss that. As for 'this pool is bigger than that pool', some are easier to make a lot more bank than others for that reason.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][PRESALE][TRU] TRU REPUTATION NETWORK - ⚡️ 160,000 TRU TOKENS/160 ETH ⚡️ on: January 09, 2018, 04:31:01 AM
how many times do we have to retweets and tweets in a week?

Stakes are earned for the tweets and retweet’s but capped at a daily limit at 2 for retweets and 1 for tweets.- so 7 tweets a week/14 retweets a week, no minimum as stakes are paid for the content not the duration. Make sense?

got it !!!  Wink thanks you in advance

What does this mean? "Include the URL to the Tweet in question and what activity it performs"

If you’re creating a tweet- add a post with the link and the word ‘tweet’, if it’s a retweet same deal with the word ‘retweet’. Bot is monitoring, and I’ll be reviewing manually but links make it really easy to make sure you get rewarded appropriately. Do it once a week or so, and we’ve got a good audit trail to keep us all honest. All good?

apologies everyone- some issues with PhpBBCode rendering- now resolved by going basic.

In regard to translations- there will be a separate thread, I'll DM you once it's up and running.

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin correlate with ETH and Litecoin? on: January 07, 2018, 02:16:05 AM
I have btc.  Is it possible for bitcoin to go up and eth and litecoin to go down?  If one coin goes up, the other ones do?  I assume the 2 coins with the most correlation would be btc and litecoin?  Now imagine you own btc and had either eth and/or litecoin and sold it off or vice versa.  Everyone would want the coin they hold to go up but i assume everyone wants the other coins they sold either stay the same or drop right?

Usually, ETH and LTC go with bitcoin in terms of the normal percentage of rise or fall. The only thing that affects the three is when there is an upcoming hardfork that affects the demand and supply of a particular coin.

The only currency that I can really depend on when the price of bitcoin is falling is Ripple (XRP), try to put your coins on ripple when you think BTC will go down as it is not affected by the price of BTC, a nice reason for it is because it is centralized. For the past weeks, ripple had a great and steady increase while bitcoin became crazy Cheesy somehow. The price started to went bad before Christmas and it is still down today.

In bull runs just before Xmas, the BTC price always goes down- people are cashing out for fun tokens over the holidays- it's why it's started tracking back up now everyone is back in the real world.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lax Security on a lot of Crypto Sites- be careful everyone- a nice simple check. on: January 04, 2018, 11:49:41 AM
Posting this here because it's really starting to bug me.

I got asked by a friend why he keeps seeing Google Ads that are clones of known exchanges- sent me a few URLs, and each and every single one was operating not as a clone, but as a XSS attack because the exchanges didn't have the basic security headers set. Some examples of bad offenders:

Binance Header Report - No CSP policy, no XSS blocks, no referrer policy

MyEtherWallet Header Report - Literally embarrassing, doesn't have anything set at all. Despite being told in their GitHub repo how to fix it and being given a pull request.

Everyone- be careful, and scan the sites you use before you get ripped off by someone doing a drive by.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why RaiBlocks needs to implement Proof of Stake on: December 31, 2017, 11:02:23 PM
https://www.bitcoinbeginner.com/blog/raiblocks-needs-proof-of-stake/

tl;dr: RaiBlocks is awesome, but voting is highly centralized (devs control 56%). Proof of Stake would be trivial to implement, and at just 1% inflation per year, support 4k nodes each making $20 worth of XRB per day.

Not entirely sure it needs PoS, it may be another solution but the centralization is a concern. PoS may if badly implement compound that concern, or alleviate it- better to move slowly and correctly than move quickly and in the wrong direction.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin correlate with ETH and Litecoin? on: December 31, 2017, 10:59:09 PM
They are loosely coupled- generally if BTC goes up, the others eventually go up as new money comes into the market. If BTC goes down, sometimes it's hurts the other two, and sometimes the money leaves BTC to go into LTC or ETH, only to eventually go back over the BTC as the trading positions become more advantageous. I think we're starting to see an uncoupling of ETH & BTC- but LTC will always be tethered to BTCs mast.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Taxes - US on: December 31, 2017, 10:48:05 PM
I understand crypto is world wide, but I would expect at least 30-40% investors from US. I would love to hear what others do currently or plan to do during their 2017 filing in US.

It's closer to around 17% based on source IP addresses to the top 10 exchanges (not reliable due to VPNs, but the best indication). I'm in the fun position of being both in the US tax system and a UK citizen- so before I moved I sold my crypto assets to a UK Limited Company, and they'll have to file in the UK for corporation tax on liquidation as they would with any other intangible asset.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are unsold tokens burned after ICO? on: December 31, 2017, 07:06:19 PM
many projects have in their whitepaper burn of tokens so as to ensure tokens are limitedly supplied. It also prevents dumping of the tokens and makes investors secured. To your second question, not all ICOs burn tokens. Some keep(freeze) the unsold and release it sometime later

And some only mint the tokens upon purchase (along with any additionals going to the founders- so you buy 1 token, 2 get minted, one goes to you the other to the team).
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is useless so why high price? on: December 30, 2017, 11:47:52 PM
Bitcoin is very slow transaction and fee is rediculus then why people bother buying it or considering it. I have £130 of bitcoin and I want to move it and it is asking for £28 network fee. Why should people bother having it. I can't wait to get rid of it when the fee is low.

Bitcoin fees is really high, but I don't agree that this is useless because I believe in the future of every cryptocurrency and bitcoin is one of them. If you really think bitcoin is nothing then stop holding on it. Bitcoin will be better in 2018 and people who sold it on panic will surely buy back.

First off, why would you say it's useless. I mean, right now, it has a very high price point, plus it's marketability has been really up there. These are not the only things that make bitcoin quite relevant right now. It has really opened a lot of opportunities and doors for bitcoin to be seen and to continuously prove its potential. So, having said, people keep it as an investment or some sort of a savings that they can get or use in the future.

That's a bit of a circular argument. Bitcoin will always have a special place in my heart (and my portfolio)- but it is rapidly becoming legacy tech because of lack of community consensus on solving the scalability issues. Segwit2x doesn't solve them- it just kicks the can for another 3 year debate (by which time it'll be useless), and Lightning is heresy because it goes off-chain. Bitcoin was designed for one purpose- the be a mechanism for a Transfer of Value- it's been argued that it is a 'Store of Value' but it's really not good at that because of the characteristics of cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is at a cross roads- it can either upgrade itself to face down the 2nd generation cryptocurrencies, or go the way of Betamax and gradually deflate in value over time.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: can xrp overtake btc in CMC on: December 30, 2017, 05:01:00 PM
My concern is that that increase has been 64.9% in 24 hours. Ripple certainly has promise- but I can't see what has happened in the last 24 hours to force that move in the market- that's a stupid amount of money. It'll correct, and it'll hurt it- and I suspect whomever is behind it, knows that.

it is due to market demand. no one can pump xrp like that unless you are bill gates and warren buffet. do you see how much btc was spent to achieve that price?
geez

Oh, yes they can. A lot of big money in crypto, especially in China because they made it cheaply- and they know how to work with each other. Seen all sorts of market moves in the last 4 years where similar shit has been tried at various scales- but generally the same amount of market share. The uptick in XRP is directly linked to a similar downtick in BTC (saw the same thing with the recent BCH run)- the game is to get the price mooning, start a stampede, and then quickly dump before the rest of the lemmings follow you- in return, you get BTC cheap, get a nice tidy profit, and the followers get fucked.

BTW- the real world doesn't do shit like in the last week of the year- most people are on leave, or are out the lunch. We've not seen $9 billion in new money enter crypto- we've seen $9 billion transfer from BTC to XRP- that suggests bullshit is going on.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies predictions using BIG DATA on: December 30, 2017, 04:54:08 PM
I think big data can work for young coins. The big ones are immune to chatter(mass speculations).

Not really- most of Bitcoins recent run has been because of chatter- in the mainstream press. Same with its subsequent retrenchment back to closer to $10k. All crypto is highly speculative so highly influenced by chatter- until there is a substantial utility for them, they will remain so.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pre-ICOs on: December 30, 2017, 04:51:37 PM
Many answers, and none answers the question there is a special site where specified Pre-ICOs?
]

Mainly because there isn't one. The ICO websites charge (and charge a lot) for listing ICOs- anywhere between $800-$20,000 at current BTC:USD prices. If you're raising a small cap, that's a big gamble, so they don't go for it. ANN has generally been the better way of finding them early. Probably is a market gap for someone there.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple on: December 30, 2017, 04:46:16 PM
Doing $9 billion in 24 hours without any real groundswell of market impetus, press coverage or reason looks and smells like a pump and dump. Again it's happened on a Friday, and again a lot of the chatter has been in China.

Wouldn't touch it with yours.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: December 30, 2017, 02:47:55 AM
I think Ethereum the Platform is cool technology. I don't think it's unique as there are at least a dozen similar platforms out there all equally interesting. These platforms might have uses for private chains; but, it remains to be seen if they are more useful than centralized systems for businesses.

ETH the token has little value. It's been promoted as a "world super computer" that can run DAPPS, smart contracts, a currency, DAOs and useful to banks. Even someone with basic technology understanding knows that a decentralized system 100s if not 1000s of times slower than a cell phone will never be capable of all that. The recent failures during ICOs demonstrate just how slow a decentralized system really is. A decentralized system might do one thing well (like being a currency) but, it will never be capable of doing a multitude of functions. If there was ever a popular DAPP ETH would slow to a crawl and the DAPP would be of no use.

I suppose it will retain some value only because the average investor lacks technical knowledge and is easily manipulated into believing that the ETH network is capable of doing the impossible.

It's a validation of proof platform, not a computation platform. It's 400 million times more expensive to do it on-chain than say AWS- so no one serious is going to move their compute into Ethereum. However, for contract validation and public proof- it's perfect, so it'll hit arbitrage, and trustless proofs of result, and I can see a big market for that. It's part of the Web 3.0, it is not the Web 3.0 like some others claim. Decentralized validation, decentralized storage, semantic data, decentralized reputational mechanics, decentralized network, privacy containment- of those high-level goals right now Ethereum does one of them and may do 3 of them at most- still leaves a huge amount of additional requirements unaddressed.
