1  Economy / Services / Re: A new advertising project: Payments can be made and received with bitcoin on: August 19, 2011, 08:56:29 AM
5 bitcoincent is a bit much for 100 views. We use bitcoin only for transferring money.

All transactions on-site happen in Euros, so it's 5 eurocent, or +/- 0.07 dollars.
2  Economy / Services / A new advertising project: Payments can be made and received with bitcoin on: August 13, 2011, 04:21:52 PM
Greetings everyone,

We're currently working on a "Project Wonderful" inspired advertising project, called "Adimp".

To clarify:
Site owners can publish their ads on their website and earn money (like Google Adsense).
Advertisers then must bid a certain amount of money per day they want their ad to appear on said site.

This can lead to cheap advertising for advertisers, yet a sure income for the site owners (since you pay per day, not per click)

The main difference with Project Wonderful is our form of "segmentation".
On Project Wonderful you can only bid on American, Canadian, European or "other" traffic.
Adimp lets you bid per country, browser and operating system.

The project is still in a beta phase. It's not possible to add or withdraw funds yet.
Our goal is to gather beta testers who want to put an adspace up on their website.

This way we can work out the kinks with real-live data and go live within a few weeks with a modest offering of available adspaces.

Adimp will take about 14% of the biddings, but this is reduced to 7% for beta testers.

You can take a look at:

And now for some self-promotion, don't forget to check out my site: www.belgianflavours.com for Belgian beers, snacks, candy, ...

I'm trying to get some cheaper shipping options to the U.S. and such, but it's not that simple.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHERE ARE THE MODS? DELETE THE *($# LINK TO THE ACCOUNT DUMP on: June 19, 2011, 09:42:20 PM
Exactly. Removing the link does not remove the file. Better let it all out in the open.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LEAKED MT. GOX ACCOUNT DATABASE (CSV FILE) on: June 19, 2011, 09:38:49 PM
I'm number 905. Don't remember when I signed up really, but I only got into bitcoin once you could get bitcoins from europe. Which was pretty late in the game.
6  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 6950 Non-reference card OC, Flashing and tweaking thread on: June 18, 2011, 06:02:11 PM
So I'm guessing this card http://www.techpowerup.com/140134/Club3D-Intros-its-Radeon-HD-6950-1-GB-Graphics-Card.html is a non-reference one? Bummer.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Absolutely love Bitcoin! on: June 18, 2011, 03:18:08 PM
The more people to get to know, and to love, bitcoin, the better the chances are that that's gonna happen Wink
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HD6950 mobo requirements on: June 18, 2011, 03:14:52 PM
It apparently was just an issue with THAT specific motherboard. I tried it on an even more-basic P5KPL-VM and now it's working fine!
9  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Get a free beer on BelgianFlavours.com on: June 18, 2011, 12:27:11 PM
As you may or may not know, Belgian Flavours sells Belgian beers, candy and chocolate.

We currently have a promotion running for a free Rodenbach or Duvel beer.
Just add either one to your cart and enter the FREERODENBACH or FREEDUVEL coupon when you check out.

You can now order these on-line at www.belgianflavours.com

Should you miss anything in our catalog (some kind of Belgian beer or candy you can't seem to find) don't hesitate to contact us.

We started accepting payments via Bitcoin a few weeks back.
We've had a handful of bitcoin orders since then, and they've always run very smoothly. I much prefer it to paypal.

Feedback, questions, ... are always welcome.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin snack machine (fast transaction problem) on: June 18, 2011, 12:03:40 PM
I don't really like the intermediary account-idea. It undermines the decentralized nature of bitcoin.

What about some kind of honour system? If it's the tenth time you bought something at this vendor machine with the same address, it might be a good idea to trust the user more.
Or maybe make people register? (That would be bad for the anonymous part of bitcoin, though. Just like an intermediary service)
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's why I think there is legs left yet in mining on: June 18, 2011, 11:55:00 AM
I've often wondered about such "payment in the browser" options but... isn't this what we *do not* want?

Right now bitcoin payments happen quite easily. Just paste in the address, enter the amount, and click send. Done.

Wouldn't the "paypal" way require an intermediary website? Yet another site where you have to store your coins, will probably have to pay a fee, ...

Or you could go the route of browser extensions, but then only Firefox would benefit since Chrome's extensions are just javascript.
12  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Any instructions on how to create your own pool? on: June 18, 2011, 11:32:33 AM
There are a few guides on this forum. You should look for "pushpool". Setup is fairly easy.

Even though yours is gonna be private I do wonder: I see lots of new people coming in (having heard of bitcoin probably a few days earlier) stating they've started their own pool.. And people are actually joining them!

I would have thought the pool-market would have been saturated, but I guess not. Maybe it's time to make mine public.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / HD6950 mobo requirements on: June 17, 2011, 11:25:44 PM
I bought my first HD6950 card a few days back, hoping it would work on my P5N-E card lying around. Alas, it does not. (It works for a minute, then the screen goes blank)
Lots of people have problems getting those 2 to work, apparently.

But now I saw HD6950 is based on PCI Express 2.1. Is it required that the motherboard uses that, too? Or is 2.0 enough?

The hardware requirements on AMD's site say nothing about that, btw:
PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard.

Has anyone been able to run this card on an Intel 775 motherboard?
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: June 17, 2011, 11:08:40 AM
I allow payments by Bitcoin on my own webshop (at www.belgianflavours.com, selling Belgian beers, snacks and candy)

I've known about bitcoins from when they were worth 3 cents, have only been a visitor on this forum since may.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: June 17, 2011, 09:05:52 AM
I'm Skerit, owner of www.belgianflavours.com (The beer webshop where you can pay with Bitcoins Wink)

I found out about Bitcoins many months ago, but it only really caught my eye around march this year.
16  Bitcoin / Mining / European going to buy his first ATI card tomorrow. Any suggestions? on: June 10, 2011, 11:41:23 PM
There isn't a shortage of ATI cards this side of the pond yet, but I wonder what my best option is.
Prices seem a bit more expensive than the prices people in the U.S. used to pay for them.

A local store has these cards:

HD 6950 1gb Gddr5 for € 226.10 (800 Mhz processor, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 5000 Mhz memory speed)

Eah 6870 2di2s 1gd5 for € 205.19 (915 Mhz processor, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 1050 Mhz memory speed)

HD 6850 Overclocked Edition 1gb Gddr5 for € 176.62 (820 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4400 Mhz memory speed)

HD 6850 1gb Gddr5 Pci-e for € 155.01 (775 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4000 Mhz memory speed)

R5850 Twin Frozr II / Radeon Hd 5850 1gb for € 198.69 (725 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4000 Mhz memory speed)

So any suggestion as to what the best option is here?
17  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Belgianflavours.com: Buy beer, candy & chocolates with your bitcoins on: May 30, 2011, 11:09:56 PM
* Accidentally places this in the root "Marketplace" forum, whilst is should have been put here. So:

Belgium is known for its rich assortment of beers and chocolate.
You can now order these on-line at http://www.belgianflavours.com

Since there is currently no bitcoin extension for Magento, after you have checked out (and have chosen the bitcoin payment option) we will send you an e-mail with further instructions.

Should you miss anything in our catalogue (some kind of Belgian beer or candy you can't seem to find) don't hesitate to contact us.
(Do not ask for "Westvleteren" beer, though. It is very hard to get, even in Belgium)

Feedback is welcome.

*Edit: You can now browse the shop in Bitcoin. The currency selector is visible when you enter the site, and on every product page.
18  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Could we get an economy of freelancers doing mini- or microtasks going? on: May 28, 2011, 10:38:52 PM
I like the idea of being paid with bitcoins, but I would want it to be when the job's finished.

Say I accept to do something for 10 bitcoins, but the currency decreases in value, what happens then?

I don't think Bitcoin is stable enough to not list these offerings in USD.
19  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Introducing Belgianflavours.com: Buy beer, candy & chocolates with your bitcoins on: May 28, 2011, 06:12:34 PM
@frycicle Thanks!

@sublimnl My supplier has the Brown (11%) and Blonde Tripel (also 11%) variant. Consider them added Wink

The store has been on-line for a few weeks now, we are very excited to get going with Bitcoin as a payment method.

*Edit: Silly me, just noticed this should go in the "Selling" section.
