121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / SHA256 Mining Beta Test on: May 14, 2018, 04:42:00 PM
EDIT:

Pool now open to the public http://btccluster.hopto.org:8080/

#####################################

Hi guys,

So I am going to keep this short and sweet.

Im looking for 9 SHA256 miners to join a small team of miners and coders.

We have a new way to mine BITCoin and are working to make it something every miner can enjoy.

To become part of the test you need a min of 1 TH on the sha256 algo and need be able to submit bug reports in a manner the devs can understand.

The beta test is part of the Cluster pool project.

This is when each instance connected becomes a thread and works with the other miners to win the block.

Cluster mining was first seen on ROI-Coin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2361848.0 as a way to solo mine blocks.
Work is on going on the ROI-Coin cluster and work from the BTC cluster will become a part of the ROIcoin cluster.

There is much much more going on in regards to the BTC cluster and that info will only be given to members who make it in to the BTC Cluster Beter Team.

We found with the ROICoin cluster miners on laptops with just 20hs was solo mining blocks when the network had over 500KH on at the time.

We now have a BTC cluster up and running and need testers who are willing to leave hash power on the cluster.
We don't want any miner to look at this as a way to mine bitcoin yet.

ONLY APPLY if you can spare the hash. You need to have 1 TH min to apply to become a tester.

Beta testers will be given 1 BTC of any blocks we mine on the cluster.

Any tester found and proven to be leaking info to the outside world will be kicked off the project.

To apply to be a tester post your hash rate that you will be putting to the cluster and why we should have you become part of the team.

If you wish to find out more about what the cluster is you can read more on the ROI-Coin forums https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2361848.0

You will also need a discord account to give feedback to the rest of the team.

Kind Regards,

Raster.

hello people.  small note to apologise for the cluster being stupid lately.  this has been tracked down to someone being upset with the cluster and sending a lot of traffic to disrupt things. ddos anyone ?

im going to change the firewall in a while and hopefully this should fix the interruptions.  it would also be nice if we could get the miners to auto reconnect but it seems this is a feature they dont have.

So how's the cluster trouble shooting going? I just checked and I still cannot connect.

The last I heard it seems there was a DDOS attack and they were working on a way to prevent that from happening again...

Sorry for the late update, Me and t166er have been working hard to stop this. Roi is now not the only cluster we are running and one or two may be upset over how the cluster works when it comes to other coins. However Roi is the only coin with a live cluster that the pub can mine.

We have got the roi cluster on a temp system at the min and it will be on that until we get things set up to keep it and you secure.

Just a note to them who thought there was coins in the node. The cluster makes 100% sweet feck all. There is not any fee to the miner for mining the cluster. The only thing you will find behind the cluster is a server running a blank install of windows and a single empty wallet. You have more chance in finding coins in a fresh install of a wallet than you do on the cluster. each user sigs the block with there key and is sent to them. So stop wasting your time dumb ass. And if its the code you are after to run a cluster and charge miners to mine there good luck with that.

Or if its info on how we make empty blocks again good luck with that. 9-10 years of crypto millions of coders working on them, 1000s of coins and diff block chains, and as far as I know im the only one to make things so a block can be mined empty with zero tx's, Yes some pools have found a block and there has been no txs in it. But that has not been by choice its pure fluke. And yes mining BTC with this changes the chances of solo mining.
Here is proof of work for empty BTC blocks. Cheesy

Again to get to the wallet there is more hops than a game of hoppscoch to get to the node that has 100% feck all on it. There is more chance in you finding a solo block on bitcoin with a 486 than there is you finding my code. So if its that your going after its not going to happen. I am a network security engineer that works for NCR, Wincore, Vista (banks) and a beta tester for Cisco and Netgear both home and enterprise if you think my shit is not secure you have another thing comming and the hops you go to dont have anything of intrest on them.

For them who use the cluster we are sorry some ass out there is looking to rape the way you mine and will do what is needed to keep things up.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best CPU Mineable Coins in 2018 and CPU Mining Guides on: May 02, 2018, 11:17:59 PM
ROI is not worth mining

with only deposit of 524519 coins you receive the same amount of coins without any cost for energy and hardware compare to solo mine every block a whole year

30 blocks every hour
120 block reward
= 86400 coins everyday
= 31104000 coins a year

deposit 524519 coins
deposit rate 593% for one year
=31104000 coins a year

staking dont reduce the amount of coins that can be mined
mining is limited to 1 billion coins
staking is unlimited and these coins created out of thin air

save energy and just buy and deposit - or forget this this coin

Who will "win" - miners or investors?

You dumb ass. miners and investers win.

Miners are not dumping this coin. Less than 10% of mined ROI coins are put on exchanges because the miners are holding them. You could not buy 500,000 roi today if you wanted to. Its one of the few CPU coins that you cant go and buy millions of.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ROI] ROI Coin | CPU Only Solo Mining Hybrid | 15% POS | 593% Term Deposit on: May 02, 2018, 08:02:18 PM
That's interesting from where the coins that are generated from the deposit come from, it is not POW and not POS? How can be called this method of generation coins.

You are correct and I would add the staking coins and the term deposit coins are not added as a typical POS as you find in nearly all other coins.

The wallet code creates coins out of thin air and adds them to the wallet every single block of the block chain. This strategy creates some very unique benefits that other coins can't offer such as:

ROI coin does not compete its users against each other. A user with 10 coins gets the exact same payout as a user with 100 million coins the percentage is exactly the same. This matters because all to often with staking coins whale wallets have more weight and so smaller users struggle to get payouts.

ROI coin pays out every single block of the block chain. This matters because it allows a user to predict and know with certainty what the payout stream will be. Other coins can be hard or impossible to precisely predict POS payouts because of how that works. This is a benefit to people who like to make calculations and predictions when analyzing if a coin is worth investing in.

ROI coin pays out staking and term deposit in such a way that your wallet can be locked and/or completely off line. A user with a wallet running day and night will get the exact same payout as a user that leaves there wallet shut off day and night. This matters because some people are not able to leave a computer running and if so they are not punished with reduced payouts. The next time they turn on their computer and the wallet syncs all of their coins are added just as if the pc had never been turned off. Another benefit of this is cold storage. With ROI coin you could term deposit coins for 1 year and then export those to a paper wallet and place it in a desk somewhere. 1 year later you can import those coins back in and all of your rewards are there even though the coins were offline for the last 12 months.

There are other benefits and thinking behind this design but without getting into a lengthy discussion the non-competitive nature of the coin is a push to make the coin more fair and suited for mass adoption. The term deposit feature is a push to control or reduce dumping by enticing people to take their coins out of circulation in order to capture the increased payout rewards.

A couple of things you need to be aware. Coins sitting in the wallet and staking will stop staking after 30 days and will need to be moved/reset to begin staking again. Coins that have completed their term deposit will also need to be moved/reset to begin staking again. This is to push for people to stay engage and occasionally resync their wallets. We don't want users to just forget about the coin.

Last but certainly not least be sure to enjoy and make full use of these payouts while you can. In the future and to control any inflation issues the payout percentages will be reduced and this will be a product of market data, community input and of course some good old common sense.

That is really useful information! Thanks about it!

Of course it raises also a few questions:

1. how is it possible that coins are created out of thin air? Does that mean that ROI is  unlimited by number?
2. I've staked 10 coins for a year. Do I need to "refresh" this every month and how to do that?

The coins go up by around 15% a year. So if you have 100 coins the stacking would tern in to around 115 coins after 1 year. But you will see a small % each time a block is mined on the network.

So if there is 1 million coins on the network that are not locked in term deposets then that will be around 1,150,000 coins in 1 year from now.

The coins you have locked you do not need to do anything with untill they unlock 1 year from the time you locked them. Then all you do is send them to yourself to get them collecting the 15% apr or you can term them for another year and get much more APR.

Is there a problem with the cluster-pool? I constantly get the following error:

HTTP request failed; connection timed out after 30000 milliseconds
json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

Anyone else having this problem? I'm running hodlminer (compiled on this machine) on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Hi sorry we have a small problem with the cluster. We look to get it back online as soon as we can.

12 hours ago i found a block with only 40h/s in cluster with my i5 laptop who has a max. of 85-90h/s. I have two instances open, so each has half of h/s that i5 can do.
Now, after 12-13 hours, i discover another block with only 36h/s. So this cluster is indeed a lottery.

Yep its a lottery that gets winners. Solo mining the wallet with just 40hs would not get you a block.

I wanted to try cluster mining, but can't understand how to start. There is no registration button in cluster mining pool site, only "Log in"  Huh How can I start?

Hi Anzelmas, You dont need to make a account to mine the cluster you just need to point your miner to it. Take a look at my config here and apply your key to it. If you get a winning nounce on the cluster the 120 coins comes to your wallet.
You dont have to have your wallet online. If you win a block the block will be there next time you load your wallet.

Code:
hodlminer_avx2_AES.exe -a hodl -o http://roi.hopto.org:23110 -u mine -p miner --coinbase-addr=RXd3GwmQA9wdTftDyzYuv29bzgKa4EwnJb -D

Anyone here still mining in the cluster with some results ?
I started today with an old server (2x Xeon L5640) and so far I have found 1 block, so in general it works, but if it's consistent/effective I don't know yet. Wink

Thanks for sharing, with this old server what are your hash rate ?

If I understood things right from people writing about the solo-cluster mining (and the cluster-page itself) then the hash rate in this case is irrelevant; the only thing that counts is the number of instances you are running.
So since I have 24 virtual cores I'm running 24 instances on there; I think the hashrate of each thread is maybe 20 H/s or something like that. Cheesy

Alot of things have changed on the cluster since I 1st made it.

If I was you I would look to be putting instances of 200+ on the cluster (I have tested this and works well).

I cant say now if lower instances are better. More instances will give you a better chance but you still need hash power to find a block. I would never tell someone with a old laptop core duo doing 20hs to mine the cluster.

You still have to remember that there is only 720 blocks a day and there is alot of miners mining.

You can see here a miner https://roi-coin-blockexplorer.roi-coin.com/address/RDUcvrHrKBu4wVMSntYvmAbjxTdnBbft1z who seems to mine the cluster alot. I dont know the hash rate or what he/she is mining with or how the miner has it set up. It may be one instance it may be more.

As I have said befor I have not had the time to test the output of the cluster in terms of instances vs 1 instance with speed.

If you had 1KH I would say 4 instances depending on the rest of your hardware.

I my self have tested like this and got 2 blocks in a hour or so and then stopped because I need to use my server for other things at the min I have alot of work on and lots of projects to do GUI for the cluster being one of them all going well.

Again the cluster is ment for miners who like to play the Crypto Lotto. Dont mine the cluster if you wish to have a stream of coins day to day because there is alot of miners on roi and only 720 blocks a day.

If there is 1500 miners and each one gets a advrage of 30 shares a block thats 30 in 45000 chance of winning. Then if we add instances in to the math it gets silly say a adv of 3 instances each thats 90 in 135000 chance of getting the winning nounce.

Looking at that you may understand why I have made the cluster to help solo miners because the odds of finding a block are massive. But by no means is my math 100% its just off the top of my head going on the things I know without trolling though a mass of api stats.

One thing I can say is when mining the cluster use a diff address on each instance (on the same computer) this helps to stop dupe shares. You sould do this on pools too.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ROI] ROI Coin | CPU Only Solo Mining Hybrid | 15% POS | 593% Term Deposit on: April 27, 2018, 10:02:59 PM
You can point clients to your own wallet. But you will be working on mining the full block on your own. On the cluster we now only mine empty blocks that give you 120 coins for your time Cheesy Roi coin is the only coin in the world of Crypto coins that you can do this on. Grin Shocked Roll Eyes Tongue
Its the only coin out there that has a true cluster to solo mine on. Others just use a pool set to pay the finder for the block and steal a % from the finder. We give you all the block and take the confirming the txs out of the block for you so you dont have to find the hash for the block and confirm the txs. We let the pools do the confirming of TXs.
Not only is ROI a game changer for the coins, wallet and the devs but its also a game changer in the ways it can be mined.

We removed the TXs to make solo mining easy vs mining on your own wallet. Cheesy

So with this update, what is best option to mine in this cluster, open more instances (for a max. 400h/s open 4 instances) or one instance is ok ?

I have not had chance to do the big work at the min in regards to leaving miners on it and giving each instance its own address. If you are running 2 or more instances you should use a diff payment address on each one. This helps to stop dupe shares.

Ah, that is nice to know. I know I don't have the slightest clue about how all of this works, but am I right to assume that this also is in effect for multiple PCs?
For example, if someone has 3 PCs with a hexacore CPU each, then if he wants to direct every thread to solo-cluster-mining he needs 18 payment addresses? That sounds like a lot of work to set up. Cheesy

Not unless each thread is doing 100+ hash a sec.

If you run 2 instances on 1 PC each instance should have its own address.
Dont ask me why but when you mine with more than one instance 9 times out of ten you get both miners putting out the same share. Its like there both scanning the same bit of work. I find adding a diff address to each instance stops dupe shares and the miners scann random.

EDIT:

I would also like to just point out to all who like the idear of solo mining one or two things.

1: The Cluster you work with other miners to solo mine a block. Abit like a pool but the work is updated from miner to miner.
2: The cluster only mines blocks miners on the cluster do not confirm any TXs so the block is empty and you get 120 coins if you are the finer NO FEE.
3: The cluster works better the more TXs there are on the network.
4: There is only around 720 blocks a day and there is well over 1000 miners on the network. So you dont need a "A" in math to work out if we was all solo mining some miners will not get blocks and some will get more.
5: The cluster is a lotto and the less TXs there are on the network the harder the cluster has to work. More TXs on the network the harder the pools have to work.
6: Looking at suprnova the cluster is doing just as it should. Anyone who has been mining there for some time should see a drop in coin earnings each day because blocks are being mined on the cluster and other pools.
7: No Other coin out there offers the users a easy way to mine and keeps looking to help the miners solo blocks. The Cluster Node is 100% unique and cant be found on any other blockchain.
ROIcoin has much to offer its users. As I type this I just won a block (100672) on the cluster Cheesy Yay me lol.

In a bid to make Solo Mining easy we have now removed all network transactions from the cluster.
So mining the cluster you just work to find the block.
No more working to find the block and then working to confirm each network TX.
This is a 1st for any coin and is "Unique" to ROIcoin can not be done on any other coin.

1st network block mined on the new cluster. As you can see it holds 0 network TX's

Could you roughly estimate how much this increases the chances of finding a block by cluster-soloing? I tried this a couple of weeks ago with my Xeon 1230v3 (4 instances) but didn't have any luck for several days...

Well the game has changed now when it comes to mining the cluster. Lots of empty blocks are being mined. I my self mind one about 10 mins ago.

https://roi-coin-blockexplorer.roi-coin.com/block/00000009cd0c969af80df603828275624d28e62e21bad31fb7293d57dc6493d3

That was mined with just 200 hash.

A friend of mine was telling me he mined a block on the cluster with just 90 hash. Terns out he had put -t 4 instead of -t 24 lol

His block can be seen here.

Let me tell you he was very impressed that with 400KH on the network he hit a block with just 90 hs.

Unable to see the hashrate, difficulty, total coins, coin value of the block explorer on an android smartphone, did someones know a way? Thank!

The Iquidus explorer has not been designed for mobile devices.
I will see if I can make a status page for mobile devices.

I pulled together a quick status page for you, this is still work in progress, i have not figured out yet
how to auto-scale for mobile screen size.

You will notice a new menu option called "mobile" which leads to

I hope you enjoy the changes I have made to the cluster node to bring back the ease of solo mining.

Can we use something like this, QR code with ROI?

https://www.videolan.org/contribute.html#money

Not sure I follow you bro?

ROI has qr code built into the wallet and also our official paper wallet has qr code...

Well, I don't know how it work, if I wanna scan de QR code (wallet address) of someones with my cellphone and tranfert fund, it's something I can do?

I think we need to wait for Android and Apple wallets first....

Hello everyone!
I just discovered this coin a few days ago and I immediately liked what I saw. I started mining on suprnova and already have some coins deposited for 1 year and everything worked like a charm.

Now I have a question regarding the solo-cluster mining: I have my Xeon E3-1230v3 (4 cores) running 4 instances of hodlminer-avx2 (with core-binding) on the solo-cluster. Unfortunately I have never hit a block (and it's been almost 4 days now....). Is this a normal probability distribution or is there something wrong? Because on suprnova I would probably have made the equivalent of 1-2 blocks in the same amount of time.

Thank you and good luck with this project!

Welcome to ROI Cheesy

If I was you I would put 1 instance on a pool and one on the cluster. This gives you a chance to solo mine a block and a stream of coins.

As  Blue9999 said things was much easyer months back. Now the best thing is to see it as a lotto.

Hay Guys,

So I have just updated my post on page 8 for SOLO mining your own wallet.

Hear are the settings you should be using with wallet V1.1.6

1st go to %appdata%/ROICOIN/

Make a file called ROIcoin.conf

Paste this in to it.

Code:
rpcuser=mine
rpcpassword=miner
rpcport=23110
txindex=1
server=1
listen=0
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
bind=127.0.0.1
RPCport = 3377
miningaddress=RJsFF8fgC7QVYvVSa93x8J2VhTtiS1mtwz

Now save.

Now download HODLminer by woolf http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/download/hodlminer-wolf-2.zip

Edit the bat file

Code:
hodlminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:23110 -u mine -p miner -t 40 -q -D --coinbase-addr=RJsFF8fgC7QVYvVSa93x8J2VhTtiS1mtwz

And you are good to go.

Dont forget to change wallet key for your own and change the amount of threads "-t"
