I've seen couple of posts on reddit asking where to send coins for supertyphoon Yolanda disaster relief. I suggest that donors go through well-known organizations such as redcross.org.ph/donate and use established methods to send money. For now.

But if you have to use bitcoins, I could forward them to Red Cross. You really don't need bitcoin to help.

It's been a long while since I updated the OP. I find transacting through Localbitcoins.com as a more efficient way of running this service. There is automatic updating of the price. You get price quote immediately. Anxious new clients can use escrow right on the website.

Please go to my ad to make a transaction. If it says that trader is on vacation or out of bitcoins, try another day.

Also, would anybody be interested in trading Bitstamp ripple USD for pesos?

Thanks for this Dabs..

I am assuming that he is using bitstamp as well on cashing out some of his BTC, so I am asking if he has a good experience on using bitstamp service.

I have been reluctant to use the large exchanges as I have been able to trade locally. So it might only be soon that I will find out how to actually withdraw funds from Bitstamp through bank wire.

A meetup is being planned again. The organizer has told me that it is going to be on August 24, 2013, but there's no venue yet. Please stay tuned for further announcement.

I have changed for now the reference for my price quotes. I am using Bitstamp now instead of MtGox. So my quotes would be lower by roughly 400 pesos than it would have been if based on Mtgox price. I changed because I may have to sell the bitcoins at an exchange and Gox is having issues with USD withdrawal.

Hi Mga Kababayan & Fellow Bitcoin Users,

We are inviting you to a Bitcoin Meetup on July 13, 2013 at Bo's Coffee, Glorietta 5.

Lasse Birk Olesen of Bitcoin Nordic had asked on this thread about a meetup, and he and I agreed to announce one for everyone to come and join.

Please spread the word about our little event and invite your friends.

Magkita-kita tayo.

    Time: Saturday, July 13, 2013, 7:00 PM

Hey, I just moved to Metro Manila.

Have you guys done meetups? If not, would you be interested in meeting fellow Bitcoin users in Manila?

I've been doing one-on-one meetups for local trading, and I should feel bad when one of us cannot stay long enough for a chat. So a meetup with a number people just to talk about bitcoin and sundry would be nice.

12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Bitcoin client for the common users (friendly and instant) on: April 29, 2013, 05:01:09 AM
Pulled from git yesterday, and it fixed an annoying bug that throws an error when I've closed the client with a pending transaction.

Thanks, ecdsa.

Hello mga kababayan ko,

I've setup a bitcoin forum site para sa ating mga pinoy.

punta kayo sa http://pinoybitcointalk.org and hope magkasama sama tayo dun Smiley

Ayus itong initiative, kabayan!
14  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Mang Sweeney's: send money to the Philippines through bitcoin on: April 16, 2013, 12:36:57 AM
Regardless of the price bubble, I still offer this money transfer service. Price does not matter. Sell your bitcoins as soon as you buy them if using bitcoin to send money.
15  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pilipinas (Philippines) on: April 07, 2013, 12:27:22 AM
Tara meet up tayo! Kahit kuwentuhan lang at magkape Grin PM lang.

I keep getting the following error and transactions now are out-of-sync. I notice this started happening after an "error: status mismatch" with one of my addresses.

Code:

Exception in thread Thread-2:

18  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: March 07, 2013, 10:16:53 AM
Dynamic pricing is broken. The prices on the page that loads on my browser are stuck and outdated for quite some time now.
19  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Mang Sweeney's: send money to the Philippines through bitcoin on: March 07, 2013, 07:22:57 AM
CordHardMetal, fimp, ccl, thank you for your comments and feedback. They are much appreciated.

It may be time for Mang Sweeney's to move to the next phase. I wanted to give bitcoin more time before telling more people about it, to let the scams be aired out, weaknesses exposed, and supports built up. I had it easy starting up this service. I just used the forums, preached to the converted, and tried to make good on my promises. Now the hard part follows, selling to the uninitiated. This is challenging because I am hardly a salesman. Well, let's just see what I can do about it. Besides, a few people have expressed their willingness to help spread the word. My approach may be slow, and it may be quiet. It's all right. I am here to build a cottage. Let others build their empire.

A Chrome addon? The article Javascript Cryptography Considered Harmful is still on my mind.
