1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: June 26, 2018, 08:07:43 PM
There are several other things we could consider as well. If this was implemented properly we could probably break most of the records from 7 to 13 or 14. I could probably write this part of the code. I'm also willing to help out with the upgrade but I'm much less familiar with the wallet core. Let me know what you think.

I think we should first complete the upgrade -- making *more* changes to the old code before we get updated will just make future integration harder.

Thank you clo1.
I agree with dga, the priority should be updating the client. After that we can do a hard fork for larger prime sets.
I do have an idea for implementing this, it's no secret. It basically works analogous to shares like in mining, allowing for larger numbers. My plan is to implement that and also rotate between different constellation sizes. So for some blocks it would be 6-tuples, then move to 7-tuples, 8, 9, and so on. It can be done in one chain.
If you can't help with the update, maybe you can work with me on the mining algo update, but I don't want to start coding it until we have an updated version.

Hi dear community!

First, kudos and thank you guytp for supporting RIC.

I can't promise anything at the moment but I'm working with getting other exchanges to support RIC.

Now, I have received some justified complains that I'm not active on Riecoin anymore. When I started this amazing project, I had little money to invest but I did have some time I decided to devote to its development. Now things have changed, and while I'm very short on time, I'm lucky enough to be able to commit some money on the project.
So, I'm offering a 0.5 BTC bounty to the person or team that can merge the Bitcoin Core 0.16.0 codebase with RIC and make an updated client that can work with RIC's current protocol and network.
Rules:
- I will review the code and make it the new official Riecoin client
- I decide if the code is ok and worthy of the bounty
- It has to support deterministic builds
- It's not necessary to update all unit tests, but it would be nice
- I decide when the bounty is over

I wish you luck and I'll be available for help with specific questions regarding the code.

Thank you all and let's keep RIC'ing!

Please check that for Flixxo you are not including the presale in the total ETH. Presale didn't go thru 0x876359dcb1745073909cc810311ec3f119e8d5e8 but all the ETH go to the same contract at 0xec2d9c7744a2c3a8c6dc24cc6d8dd7976c6e5525.

great work btw. I think that if could add a fancy design it would be a great success.

btc38 stop RIC deposits?

When i try to create an address i get:

Stop deposit, please understand the announcement!

A lot of currencies show that same message on btc38, I don't know why they're having problems.
You can open a ticket, they usually respond in less than 24hs. I will try and see.

Sorry for what is probably a dumb question... with dga's miner for stratum now, what's the best miner to use for solo mining these days?

hi! dga's miner is still the best, so if you want to go solo maybe you can run your own stratum server
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Flixxo, a social economy based on video sharing platform PopcornTime+RSK on: September 12, 2017, 02:37:15 AM
is there any detailed roadmap?
is whitepaper roadmap consist of
Q1 2016 - Flixxo foundation (DONE)
Q2 2017 - Functional ALPHA (DONE)
Q4 2017 - Token Generation Event
Q1 2018 - L.A. headquarters opening (content gathering)
Q2 2018 - Functional Platform premiere
Q4 2018 - Network integration with other video platform (Flixxo white label)
Q4 2018 - Flixxo Marketplace and decentralized Flixx exchange
Q1 2019 - Flixx integration with other platforms (gaming, music, marketplaces)

Hi! that's our current roadmap. There are lots of other goals and milestones but some can't be commited to a deadline because they depend on other technologies still under development, and others are still under negotiation with other companies and will be announced with press releases when confirmed.
For example we will surely have some integration with rsk, and we are looking forward to supporting raiden. We're just not sure how deeply and when, yet.

Cheers!

Hello people!

I'm very excited to be working on this project, we hope to make a great product and help build the future of content distribution with you.

For those commenting on the announcement using a newbie account, Flixxo is a starting project and, as such, uses a new account. But some of us working on Flixxo have been around for some time.

Cheers!

Good news: Poloniex reenabled Riecoin wallets.
Thank you!

I offered in my ticket to help the Poloniex folks if they needed anything, but they haven't responded --- this is a ticket I opened 61 days ago.  (!).

Polo folks, if you're reading this, please feel free to reach out.  BTC38 is working nicely, but it's always good to have two exchanges.

Same thing here, there's no problem in our software that I'm aware of and I'm willing to help. They responded to my ticket apologizing for the delay and said they would escalate it to give it more priority.
But the problem is that Poloniex grew too much too fast, so they are struggling with support. Some days ago they disabled the trollbox and put the moderators to work on support because they needed the staff on support.

I guess we'll have to wait. Meantime, https://cryptodao.com/ is online.

Is xptminer still useful?  I thought all the current pools were stratum.

(there's no GPU version -- the GPU stuff in xptminer was for other coins, as I understand it, and I've been trying to remove the old xpt stuff as part of simplifying the build process.)

If there are xpt pools, I can try to merge, but I don't have a lot of time right now.  If there are no xpt pools left, I'm happy to kill the xpt version entirely. Smiley

I think the only xpt server was ypool and their server code was not open source, so I'd say it's safe to kill the xpt client.

Do we have a current list of nodes - I've seen a few different ones posted and wondered what most recent are so I can include them in default list.

Guy

try https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/#!network
there's a "node list" button that shows a frequently updated list

#crysx

sorry, been really busy
trying to get riecoin code up to 0.14.1 and trying to get new exchanges

I don't know about those comments regarding a repository that got deleted, I just don't know what they are talking about. Riecoin's repo in github is where it has always been, and any PR is welcome. Regarding the miner, dga already posted his repo.

Best regards!

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: couldn't generate 0.14.1 binaries - gitian build broken? on: May 22, 2017, 01:13:25 PM
Finally gave up on LXC, made it work with KVM so your suggestion helped, thanks!

I'm now running trusty inside KVM from another trusty installation that runs inside Windows VMWare with hardware-assisted virtualization (required by KVM) simulated by the VMWare software.
Kinda slow.... but works.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: couldn't generate 0.14.1 binaries - gitian build broken? on: May 10, 2017, 04:20:48 PM
Have you tried using KVM instead of LXC? I have had issues with LXC and KVM works for me.

thanks but KVM fails too...

when I run make-base-vm for KVM (without the --lxc option) it just hangs. I know it's supposed to take a whlie, but it's been hours after the "Calling hook: bootstrap" message.

Then I tried another host, (ubuntu 12 instead of mint) and this time with LXC gbuild fails with "./bin/gbuild:199: must supply reference_datetime (RuntimeError)".

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: pow and incentives on: May 05, 2017, 07:40:51 PM
Let's say the winner of the block reward is decided by a lottery of some kind that forms part of the protocol. And in order to claim the reward he needs to do all the other - existing - things, which are currently external to the hashing process, yet considered part of the mining process.

Would that be a bad idea? If so, why?

Proof of stake attempts to do that.
It's a good idea because it avoids all the energy consumption required by brute force mining. It's a bad idea because all implementations up to date suck and are not as secure as Bitcoin's proof of work mining.
There's a lot of literature on that, search for proof of stake and "nothing at stake".

But it doesn't belong to "technical support" section, look in the altcoins section

Hi! I'm trying to use gitian to make the binaries for v0.14.1 using LXC but I'm having problems, this is what gbuild prints:

Code:

the host is linux Mint, and the guest in the VM seems to to have internet access... what's with the "unknown user: ubuntu" error? and what about "sudo: unable to resolve host gitian"?
any help please?
I've done this a couple of years ago but I forgot about the details now

Also, I had to add the line
Code:
lxc.autodev = 0
to gitian-builder/etc/lxc.config.in, otherwise I was getting a "failed to mount /dev/shm" error. Is that ok?

Thanks in advance!
