124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Signing short messages on: June 12, 2013, 05:48:49 PM
I don't know much about encryption but I recall some older forms had security issues if you had messages that were too short. (Shorter than the key length? Not sure.) Is there any similar issues with signing messages with bitcoin? If I ask someone to sign a single word for instance, just 4-10 characters long, is that any sort of a security issue?

Thanks.

I still dont understand how to encrypt text..

135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have a Raspberry Pi, how can I put it to use for mining? on: June 12, 2013, 05:31:42 PM
Looking to build a mining rig using my Raspberry Pi. Did a quick search on the forum which showed a lot of different options- was hoping to get advice on a currently profitable mining build using a Pi and a FPGA or ASIC. I see a lot of people using the BFL Jalapeno- is that still a profitable investment at the time in relation to ROI? Probably going to use the MinePeon build

Why? your not going to make any significant profit if any at all.
136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is the Litecoin price higher then the Namecoin price ? on: June 12, 2013, 05:30:52 PM
Litecoin has a huge following, Namecoin does not.
137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This noob wannabe BTC holder has been schooled on: June 12, 2013, 05:30:01 PM
Don't be put off too much by the horror stories, for every one of them there are thousands of smooth transactions. One of the biggest shocks I got with Bitcoin was realising how much cotton wool had been wrapped around online financial dealing. Just use the same kind of common sense and judgement as you would when dealing in cash, getting someone you know to do your exchanges for you until you get comfortable is definitely a good move.

Thanks! I'm not put off. I'm actually very grateful that I found this forum and started reading and posting before jumping into the BTC pool. ATM, there IS no shallow end! (grin)

Yep!!
