605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: P2PoolWidget on: May 20, 2013, 05:48:43 PM
Hi All,

I created a new free widget called p2poolwidget on the Google Play store.

I created it because I used to use a widget to monitor my mining when I was on a different pool and when I switched to p2pool I couldn't find a widget that worked with it.  So I gave up looking and wrote my own.  It is the first app I've put on the play store, so go easy on me if you have problems with it.

It is a 1x1 widget that just shows you some basic stats about your hashrate and such, and allows you to add a notification if your hashrate drops or your DOA percentage goes up too high.  I've used it for a couple of weeks, making modifications here and there and I feel like it's at a point now where it's stable enough to release.

It'll only work if you already have your stuff setup to be able to access your stats remotely via the "static" page.  So you have to either have a static IP or dynamic DNS or something like that that makes it possible to view your stats reliably over the internet already.  This just puts some of that data in a widget that automatically updates every 30 minutes and adds the option for notifications.

If you have problems you can let me know here and I'll take a look.  I'm new to p2pool and to writing android widgets so forgive me if it doesn't work for you.

If you try it and it works for you and you feel generous you can donate but it's not expected, my address is: 1MDzA9dZEEzxVbbapsajiHn8oknfVaz8Wy

Thanks!
-Ken
cool il try it

608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Raffle! For Newbies Only! Jackpot .5-1BTC! on: May 20, 2013, 05:36:23 PM
Hello Newbies! My name is Noah and I am here to offer you a legitimate opportunity. I doubt that more than a few of you have the trust to be involved with what I am about to present, but the few of you who do participate will see that it is, in fact, legitimate. So basically what I am trying to start is a raffle. This is the first one I am going to try, and this one I am not going to profit from, like I will in future raffles. This one is purely so a few newbies can win some BTCs. Here is how it will work:

•   100 Tickets
•   .01 BTC per Ticket
•   Maximum of 10 Tickets per person
•   PLEASE only those new to the Bitcoin Community participate

The way in which I will pick the winner will be by using an online random number generator. I will enter each bitcoin address for however many tickets are bought by that address, up to 10, on an excel spreadsheet. For example, if Bitcoin address “a123” purchases 10 tickets, by sending me .1 BTC, I will enter that address 10 times, randomly, on the spreadsheet. If the random number generator picks 53, I will send the Bitcoin address on line 53 of the spreadsheet, .5 BTC, or half of the total “jackpot”, then I will have the RNG generate a number again, say 27, I will send the rest of the “jackpot”, .5 BTC, to the address on line 27. If I receive more than .1 BTC from a single address, I will send the Bitcoins, over .1, back to that address, because the max is 10 tickets. If all 100 tickets are bought, I will post on here that the raffle is over, and all tickets that have tried to have been purchased after that will be sent back the respective Bitcoin address. I will say again, please only participate in this raffle if you are new to the community, and the max number of tickets per person is 10. You can buy 1-10 tickets, and you have the chance to win either .5 BTC, or 1 BTC based on the two drawings. Whoever wins the raffle, I ask that they post here that you won, and provide proof that you did, so others can see that this is legitimate. I wish all of you the best of luck, and I congratulate the winner(s) in advance! Grin

To buy tickets, send between .01 and .1 BTC to the following BTC Address:

Hi

I am a producer at the BBC News. I am currently working on a story about Bitcoins. I am interested in talking to someone from Cyprus or Argentina (or any other country with currency troubles or restrictions) who uses Bitcoins as a way of protecting themselves from volatile currency or state restrictions.

Anyone who like to contribute please email click@bbc.co.uk with Bitcoin in the subject line.

Thanks a lot

620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: May 20, 2013, 05:27:56 PM
Apparently input my email incorrectly because I never received a receipt for the order by email (so I don't have the order #).

My order was in Sunday, funds sent Monday afternoon. I've submitted a support ticket (no response) and a support email (no response). For my full personal info, you can look at those requests, not gonna post it here, but I don't have an order #. Email is isaiah.everin@gmail.com.

MtGox gave me a number separate from my account number for your service, a number that's always worked before, but this time your service asked for it to start with M and end in X. Wasn't sure why, so I just appended that to the number I had. Apparently you needed this number: M70139749X, and I gave M139749X.
...
still not fixed. These wait times are absurd. I'm missing 2 characters from the account number I gave to BitInstant. It would take one person 30 seconds to fix that.

srsizzy, did you ever get a resolution to this problem?

I had the EXACT same problem at almost the same time.  Previously, I had used the 6-digit number that MtGox initially gave me when I opened the account.  Then Bitinstant changed their interface so that it specifically requests an M_______X account number at about the same time that MtGox, without informing its customers, changed the format used for their account numbers.  I'm suspicious that MtGox may have intentionally changed the account number format so that they could embezzle funds in this way.

If you did manage to find a resolution to this problem, I would obviously be very interested in hearing about it.  If not, then I will continue trying to find others who were robbed in the same way.  Together we would at least have more leverage.

Can I get your email so I can verify that your issue was logged at bitinstant.com/contact ?
interesting man
