22  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: UK Mining Contract for sale - 800MHash for £300/month 400MHash for £160/month on: June 20, 2011, 02:10:34 PM
What is the gain here, I'm not sure?
I can make a whole system for that much with the same specs.

If you can make a system for that price I will buy 5 Smiley.
serious 2x 5870s cost £300 by them self then there is the other hardware + power etc.

I've seen your signature, you might be interested in my offer of 800MHash/s for £200/month, minimum 1 month contract. You're also in the UK which makes things smoother. Push yourself up to 1GHash/s!
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking MT GOX = Robbing The Federal Reserve. IDIOTS! on: June 20, 2011, 11:54:48 AM
Oh hello, you must be new to this whole Bitcoin thing. Let me tell you how it works:

Step 1: GTFO
Step 2: Learn how Bitcoin and its exchanges really work.
Step 3: Come back when you're past your teens, we're completeely stocked up with those here.

I think this is a very prejudice comment to make. I'm 18 myself, and I don't go around making posts like this.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone spamming the MtGox userlist with TradeHill referral spam on: June 20, 2011, 05:25:15 AM
Wow lot's of hostility!

I got the email also and personally appreciated the message. So what if he put a referral code in there? I think if he hadn't put the TradeHill reference then nobody would have a problem with his announcement/public service message. But the fact that he might -profit- from referrals... well that's unacceptable!!!

Not a big deal either way, and it's probably good for everyone on that list to have received an email informing them that the list was compromised.

I think people are hostile because they believe he's lying. If he's not lying, then maybe he's the one who compromised it. Or at least that's the feeling I got from them.

He's not the one who compromised it, he's just someone who rote a program to extract the emails from the CSV file and then proceeded to email everyone on the list so a) he could get them to sign up to Trade Hill with his referral and b) they might send him BTC donations to the address he provided. Yes, he did this with the intention of hoping to get referrals/free coins but what he did was also informative if for some reason you hadn't already found out about MtGox
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / GMail account password changed - Used on MtGox on: June 19, 2011, 10:27:49 PM
So I noticed on my Android phone that my Google account had been signed out - I attempted to log in on my PC and it was also signed out there, my password wouldn't work either. It's not like my password was simple, gufegd characters in total, non-dictionary word.

Is this a direct result of my account details being leaked? I can't remember if I used my simple "I don't care if it's leaked" password for Gox (I don't use it to trade, just signed up to it when I first started BitCoins) or my harder password.

27  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Mom's Basement Mining Contracts - From $52 per week! on: June 18, 2011, 10:49:45 PM
Would you mine a namecoin pool instead of a bitcoin pool?

I'll mine anything you like, check out my post here : http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=17920.0
28  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Will Promote Your Website on my Facebook (916 friends) for 0.1 BTC on: June 18, 2011, 10:49:03 PM
I doubt even 800 of these 916 people care what you have to say. I wouldn't click a URL in a random status post just because someone posted it. Maybe you should try this kind of thing with Twitter, it's more effective.

In regards to your signature - If you're doing this, why can't you make it a job? Surely there're people out there that demand your 10 years of experience.

I doubt that you could make a whole system for this much, especially not in the UK.

Rented GPUs mean that the person renting them doesn't have to manage the uptime, purchase and build the hardware, or front the electricity costs. This is all done for them and provides them with a steady income with little fluctuation. 1 month means 30 days of mining, not even a single hour of downtime. For any downtime that the person experiences, I will credit them with 1 hour for the first hour of down time, and two hours for each subsequent hour of downtime.

36  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Don't Mine on an iMac! on: June 16, 2011, 04:35:08 PM
Have you seen the size of the 6970? There's no way that the desktop version would even fit inside the iMac, never mind be cooled properly. They shouldn't be allowed to fool people into thinking they're using decent GPUs when it's only the mobile version Sad
37  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: NEWEGG HAS 15 SAPPHIRE 5830s AVAILABLE on: June 13, 2011, 08:25:25 PM

38  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Something going on deepbit is it a concern? on: June 13, 2011, 08:24:45 PM
I don't use Deepbit, but they're either being DDOS'd or you have connection problems.
39  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Building a powerminingpc on: June 13, 2011, 06:12:34 PM
thx!

yes i know that the value decreased (also wrote that...) i'm just optimistic Wink
ok 60% is really much... also if i estimate that the value is rising it won't compensate the rising difficulty...

i'm still waiting so lets see how the course is changing Smiley
The only thing you're optimistic about is finding 4 5870's Smiley  Good luck with that.

They're not difficult to find at all in Europe.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ubuntu autostart upon login? on: June 09, 2011, 09:12:22 PM
AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 0
(new terminal)
AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 3
(new terminal)
cd poclbm
./gpu1.sh
(new terminal)
cd poclbm
./gpu2.sh

Sorry, need the full paths to each of the commands above.  When you're in the directory type `pwd` to see where you are.
You can also use "whereis AMDOverdriveCtrl", etc, to find the full paths.

The issue is that the startup script will start in a different directory from where you are, so we need absolute paths for each command.  Also, you're not going to get any output from these commands.  Or do you want this to just run at login in the three terminals?

I can do either.  At system startup, or at your login.

Finally, give me a 'uname -a' so I know what version of linux you're running.

Just reminding you that the thread is here and bumping Smiley
