I believe the mining community is about to go through a real tough spot and once we get through it, we will overall have less miners but more hash-rate.   Basically we are going to see operating costs for miners get to a point where we will see miners that have higher operating costs get bumped out and new hardware will absorb their hashing.  This will produce more concentration of mining and people who have scale and low operating costs will win "at" the expense of others.  Zero-sum game.

+1 right on.

Whoever runs the cap.coinmine.pl pool, your pool crashed just after mdnight CST, and I was at over 50 coins confirmed balance, and now I am back to just over 20 confirmed.

I second this statement. Whoever runs this mine please fix.

I think the argument is also what if bitcoins drop in value? i dont really see the block eruptor as hedging considering its hard to sell back if price of bitcoins drop and difficulty keeps increasing.

I'm still not convinced that Terrahash purchases are a sure loser assuming they ship in the next four weeks so folks need to stop freaking out and put things in perspective.

For example, if you bought a K64, and overclock each chip to 350 MHz, you're looking at ~$40 / GHs. For comparison purposes, I don't see anything that can be ordered right now and will ship in September for that price.

KncMiner purchasers can expect an optimistic October delivery. BitFury purchasers are also looking at an October delivery. AsicMiner products are still priced at around $100 / GHs. Who knows when CoinTerra and Hashfast will deliver. New BFL orders are looking at a 2014 delivery date... :-)

It's very unfortunate, but with the exception of AsicMiner and they more than make up for it with the price they charge, almost all ASIC pre-orders are delivered late.

I assume that Terrahash also has some leeway to ease the late delivery and stop mass refund requests by either offering buyers more a higher hashrate than they purchased, a discount on future orders, or offering free overnight shipping.

Terrahash can build 156 K64s out of a 10k chip order, which will bring in at over $140k not counting folks who also purchased complete miners with cases (those should have higher margins). So, we can assume that Terrahash spent less than half of what they brought in on Avalon chips, so they certainly have room to sweeten the deal a bit for the delivery delay...

Bear in mind they also have the cost of overheads growing day, by day, whilst they wait needlessly. Not huge in the scheme of things, but significant enough to take into account.

Good point, and also bear in mind that KncMiner, HashFast, and CoinTerra have not even demonstrated a hashing Asic chip yet, so keep that in mind when looking at their promised delivery dates...

Don't forget the other 600,000 chips that are likely to be used. That alone will leap frog difficulty in addition to those companies whether they come out with chips or not.

So pretty much we're DOA?

Just keep the hope alive that BTC keeps climbing.

Something tells me its not going to end well.

*200k were 'apparently' being held by customs, if you believe that, and at the same time choose to ignore pictures depicting millions of chips in Bitsyncom's hands, having cleared customs at the end of June, provable by the tracking id plastered all over the boxes and the pictures released at the end of June.

You are correct, got the ~800k from April to Mid may mixed up with customs

Quote
~200k chips stuck in custom right at this moment for about 2 weeks now, this matter is very painful for us and our customers. As majority of the chip orders ( 70% ) totaling ~800k is made between early and mid-may resulting in a tight time frame to work with.

Either way confirming that 800,000 chips total need to be shipped before Terrahash sees theirs.

So pretty much we're DOA?

Last day for pm. Get it now.
290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 16, 2013, 11:15:33 PM
i too would keep my order if terrahash helped us along here. No point buying if no ROI.
291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 15, 2013, 07:26:08 PM
Im beginning to think yifu doesn't have a clue as to where the chips are...mush less anyone else" which is lame. We/I really need to hear something today.

I'm also beginning to think difficulty is going to reduce the ROI to not much. The only winnig hand is if bitcoins increase in value. If it does, you actually can make quite a bit with 52% difficulty increase each month.

I think I asked this a while back, but where are the DX-mini pictures? Weren't these supposed to be delivered ages ago?
293  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 13, 2013, 11:52:30 PM
Terrahash,

Be careful before starting to buy more chips. There is a reason people are unloading them easily. I would try and fetch next generation unless you can get bitfury chips immediately, otherwise, you are going up a river with KnC and other companies putting out new models.
294  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 13, 2013, 09:26:16 PM
I would totally continue buying these if it weren't for my darn credit card fees. I charged the wrongs ones..
295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 13, 2013, 07:32:04 PM
Terahash needs to speak up to avalon IMO. As a seller of goods if you can't sell the product because parts didn't come in on time its up to you and not customers.

Terrahash,

Was there a release of the DX mini pictures? You guys mentioned you had them a while back but no release of what they look like.
299  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does sealswithclubs.eu process bitcoins? on: July 31, 2013, 04:36:11 PM
thanks torba, would there be a resource where i could learn to use bitcoind for this type of process to talk with my website? if someone has written the code i'd be willing to pay some bitcoins for it, but most of the resources don't seem very good.
Using bitcoind is as easy as installing a library in most languages, search around for your desired language. Node.JS is what I prefer, it's pretty simple with node actually: https://github.com/freewil/node-bitcoin

Thanks again torba, Node.JS looks nice.
