1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PlatinumBAR XPTX - Rare Cryptocurrency with PoW / PoS (230%) on: May 27, 2018, 04:18:06 AM
Well, we got a single post from blackchopper, and a mini-pump with 3 BTC of volume (most of it just wash trading from a volume bot).  The ole girl is tuckered out now.  Suppose another 6 months of zero volume and zero progress is in order.  See you guys this fall!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 24, 2018, 04:24:43 AM
Are there any other developers officially on the Byteball team or is this still a one man show?

I appreciate Tony's principles of wanting to make this an organic community driven project without an ICO.  I also appreciate that this is Tony's baby and he is a bit of a control freak about it.  Unfortunately the reality of the cryptosphere today is that Byteball is going to continue to be further eclipsed by other massively well funded projects and left in the dustbin of history eventually if it doesn't start gaining traction fast.  Tony really needs to start throwing around that massive stash of undistributed GBYTE to give this thing momentum.

Hire 10 full-time developers.  Have them all sign year long contracts at a rate of 1000 GBYTE per year.  That's 185000$ at today's prices.  I am sure there are plenty of qualified programmers and software developers who would find that to offer an acceptable risk/reward ratio (risk of their salary depreciating in value vs appreciating).  That would only cost 10,000 GBYTE.  Imagine what 10 full time developers would be able to accomplish in a year.

Figure out a way to offer more incentive to witnesses at least for now.  Maybe some automated way of rewarding witnesses (start relatively high and have rewards slowly drop as time goes by so that in 5-10 years witnesses will be incentivized solely by transaction fees).  Right now there is very little incentive to become a witness, and even less incentive for users to manually select different witnesses other than the default.  The witnesses will forever remain centralized in Tony's hands unless this problem is solved.

This is what's so annoying.  The dev claims his background is in marketing and promotion, yet he isn't even doing that.  Doesn't even post on twitter anymore.  Hell blackchopper, give me the twitter account if you aren't going to do anything with it.  I'll spend 10 minutes a day tweeting at least.  Proper marketing is literally all it takes to get a coin like this up to a 25 million USD marketcap these days.

Super secret mysterious plans have supposedly been in development behind the scenes for 2 years now.  If nothing tangible to show for it is coming anytime soon (or ever, which I unfortunately believe is the case) just start a marketing campaign already.

I understand your concerns with the dev just leaving which I hope never happens

Dev hasn't signed in since Feb 26th and all we have heard for 2 years is vague promises of "something" being developed behind the scenes.

At this point I already consider XPTX abandoned until proven otherwise.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PlatinumBAR XPTX - Rare Cryptocurrency with PoW / PoS (230%) on: January 21, 2018, 03:17:40 AM
hey team quick question, I downloaded the blockchain but the wallet is still 48 weeks behind. Did this happen to anyone? is there an updated file? for the blockchain?

***update*** the wallet is up and running and already received rewards in my first two days. Smooth wallet. I see big potential in the future  Cool Cool Cool

Yes, the wallet is rock solid and a pleasure to use Smiley

Staking fragments your stack into a million specks of dust...
So using Coin Control to reconstitute bigger blocks may optimize performance.

What is optimal size of coin stack?
The reward amount doesn't match the size of stack.
I can see smaller stack returns bigger reward, so  I though it is pretty much random.
So I just combined all coins as a stack, but usually it's not a strategy.
The very next reward is usually very small.
Do I miss anything?

I don't know what optimal block size is, but I'm experimenting...

(a)  it can't be "random" because then minnows would get a higher pct return than whales

(b)  I have 48 blocks right now and the one's with the highest confirmation number tend to be small

(c)  I'm pretty sure my return is better since I started consolidating blocks, will know for sure in about 10 days

For some weird reason I'm fascinated by this type of high yield coin...
I must get a dopamine hit every time I stake, man Smiley

Nope.  Just stake 24/7, don't waste coinage, and maximize your compound interest.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 21, 2017, 09:32:23 AM
I llike this simple solution:

Put 100,000 GBYTE into a Byteball Foundation to use for marketing, corporate outreach, expanding the dev team, etc.

Put 100,000 aside to continue using for cashback merchant program and any other future programs.

Airdrop the rest.

Done.

I like it too, that would be my preferred model, airdrop the rest to Byteball Holder or burn them, it doesn't matter.

I concur.  Whoever came up with this solution is clearly extremely smart and has a huge penis.

Here is a detailed overview on how we are distributing the Alvalor token supply:

Great.

What's the burn address?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XRB]Cryptocurrency's killer app: RaiBlocks micropayments on: December 14, 2017, 04:19:11 AM
No such any idea in XRB, the price boost to 23000 Sato now, are there I am missing something about this project?

Bitgrail is down so they have all that XRB locked up.  Mercatox is semi-functional and confirmation emails for new accounts are not being sent out so a lot of people can't sell there either.

It's dropping back to 10k satoshis as soon as Bitgrail gets back online.  Not that I want it too.  I have loads of this stuff in my local wallet.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: *** Unofficial * VELTOR | ALVALOR discussion - VELTOR SWAP COMING SOON on: December 13, 2017, 06:14:13 PM
Devs stated that the burn addresses are gonna be made public. Already 2/3 Veltors of total supply are swapped for Alvalor. Swapping can be done until the 31st of January!

The swap is a succes. Already 189k VLT tokens are swapped.

Remaining supply is 365k VLT.

Yet the market on yobit hasn't budged.  Are the VLT tokens being swapped going to be burnt or at least pooled into a common address?  I would assume so.  It would be nice if that address were to be posted publicly.  Considering the history of VLT, some reassurances that no shenanigans are taking place would be much appreciated.

All the swapped VLT will be destroyed.

Ok.  So publish the burn address.  Like ASAP, not after January 31st.  People want assurances no shenanigans are taking place as the swap is underway, not afterwards.

God damn Tony, you maybe stubborn as hell and refuse to take any advice, but you sure do some good work.

Wish I could buy some more GBYTE right now at these low low prices but the BTC I sent to trex has been stuck unconfirmed for a day and a half now.  Roll Eyes

Those seeking main stream adoption already will lose every time to those seeking the eye of speculators right now. Price will gain you the most free advertings (well market cap). You are putting of so many new investors who look at unit price. Fuck it let's reduce it to BYTES Smiley

How long must we wait for a simple change that can grossly alter 50% of most noobs opinion of the potential of their investment in BB in a positive way??

Work smarter not harder. I mean if this simple change is not completely obvious by now this is worrying indeed.
This is the 50th time in a couple of weeks I see this exact presumption posted on the board and the 3rd PM I have had about it in under a week.

Agreed.  Speculators provide liquidity as well.  If I ran a business, why would I want to accept Byteball as payment when only a minor dump can drop the price so easily?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 08, 2017, 02:33:05 PM
Hi Tony!

I may not have the most active account here but hold quite a few Bytes.

I loved your interview with Marc and it's great seeing you at several other events recently presenting Byteball, and trying to increase exposure. Whilst I understand this project is your "baby" and that you may be a more risk averse person in general, I feel it would greatly strengthen Bytbeall if we had a CEO or marketing crew who could handle the PR and present Byteball in a more clear, focused and understandable way. Not to be rude but as a native English speaker I found it hard to understand you at times and although you answered the woman correctly about ETH vs etherisc, I feel that she didn't understand you either.

It's great to see you doing your part but I feel it's time for some professional marketers to take over. The website needs an overhaul and I agree that the headline should be: "DAG - Unbounded scalability, fast confirmations, no miners, no blocks, low fees" (e.g. hashgrasph website). A Marketing team could also assist with more exchange listings, website update, video production (e.g. hashgraph has quality videos for beginners and advanced users) covering many areas of discussion. This would leave you to do what you do best, coding and improving the tech, and let the marketers do their work.

I admire that you are a doer rather than a talker, but feel that again a marketing team could help with monitoring/answering in chat apps, and also assisting you to write weekly updates on whats been going on behind the scenes. A little bit more communication from Byteball to the community would go a long way, any rational investor likes to follow the news and stay up-to-date but I feel my options to do this with Byteball are limited. The last update on Byteball Medium was in September.

I would also appreciate it if a decent amount of the remaining distribution funds are designated to devs who are willing to build around the Byteball ecosystem.

Good luck and look forward to hearing your upcoming distribution proposals!

Agree with all of this.  Byteball needs it's own Andreas Antonopoulos to do PR.

For the love of god, distribute a large chunk of the remaining coins to people who will actually contribute to building the Byteball ecosystem and increase it's exposure in a meaningful way.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 07, 2017, 05:46:53 AM
All you want to do is pump the price through marketing to get rich quick. There are plenty of other coins and tokens that do exactly the same. Byteball aims to win through technology, not pumping the price for quick gains.

Tony's goal was to get Byteball in the hands of as many people as possible because the theory is that the value of Byteball increases the more users it has.

Marketing Byteball properly attracts investors and users, so is completely in line with Tony's philosophy here.  Why is marketing such an anathema to some people around here?  Why is word of mouth considered the only proper way to attract new users to Byteball?

Ummmm......is this a false positive?  Previous release was clean.

So what?

That's how such "virustotal" responds to the latest repository DASH.

https://www.virustotal.com/ru/file/66c87bab5c8583b7be3b146cea5e55dc73548c7cfeffb67ff81847678388a1e7/analysis/1510460976/

Just being safe.  It wouldn't be unheard of for an altcoin dev to slip a virus into a fresh update, thinking no one would be paying attention.

I did some googling though.  Baidu is not a very reliable antivirus program, and seems to find versions of this particular virus in everything from Mullvad VPN software to the Bitcoin core wallet and even Euro Truck Simulator 2.  So I'm gonna say odds are you are being honest.
