couple questions . . Is yacoin still a secret Linux wizard club? do the windows binaries at yacoin.org work or is that bs? if bs is someone working on a windows build? if not, will a Linux VM work for mining? all hardware I have access to requires windows  have you considered changing the name of this coin to CSWCMWLNHRFAWCoin confusing so we can mine with low network hash rate for awhile coin? since this is cpu mined only I feel like ALOT more people would get involved long term if it were easier, I know I would. unfortunately it appears the guy who set up yacoin.org disappeared and isn't really updating his site. 32 cents per kilowatt hour is extremely high, at least HALF of your bitcoins are going to go to power costs with any GPU
im not saying its not worth it, but be prepared to mine for a long time before you cover your hw costs, or maybe get someone with cheaper electricity to host them for you.. for instance power here is 8 cents per kw hour and I don't even pay for it
for GPUS id say get the best you can afford it will save you money in the long run, hd5970's ebay for $350-450 if you look and they're still the best if you can find one that's not abused, 7970 can be had for 350-425 but they aren't as fast as the 5970s
im currently regretting buying cheap 6950s to save on upfront hw costs

are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with ccc? ive had this 30% fan problem on many generations of ati cards and uninstalling ccc always allows me to set fan speed with msi afterburner or some other program. did you try the bios update ? if bios update doesn't help and removing ccc doesn't help (if you haven't already) as a last resort you can try editing bios fan settings directly using RBE http://www.techpowerup.com/rbe/back up your original bios, and only attempt screwing with it if you have another video card you can use for display purposes incase you brick your 5970 and need to reflash it |

when I install my 5th gpu the 4th pci-e slot stops working, video card still shows up in gpu-z but without proper drivers and it wont display or mine. the pci-e LED lights up like normal and that slot works fine if im only using 4 cards.
is this a limitation of the older motherboard? its an x58 out of a dell/alienware XPS, dual core 1.86ghz xeon (Nehalem) if that matters
win7 x64 don't know if I should try another OS or not
not sure on exact motherboard specs I can find out if anyone thinks they can help
What power supply are you using? Also are all the graphics cards the same or are they a mix? 5 visiontek 6950's 2 seem to be unlocked with 1536 shaders the other 3 aren't, they came like that. I've tested using an old 3870x2 as 5th card, same problem all the videocards work fine separately or 2-4 at a time, im starting to think its just the motherboard motherboard/hd/etc are powered by a pretty old 600w psu, the cards/risers are all fed from the single 175amp 12v rail of a 2100w dell power edge PSU. |

tried several including latest beta drivers.
I finally switched to catalyst 12.8 to get cgminer to stop crashing, but now that you mention it I don't think I've tried that slot with this version
Maybe its already fixed. I'll try it after lunch, thanks

Well it did work and it didn't work. Now I get no errors only 2 cores but can't control the speed of the fan and I can only see one core temperature... 90... Auch... Any idea how to fix that? oh, sorry. you need the drivers but not catalyst control center, it always screws up fan control control panel > programs and features > AMD catalyst control manager > change > uninstall manager > custom > check catalyst control center, and it should let you uninstall just that component, leaving your drivers intact you can probably uninstall it with that catalyst uninstall utility too, either way will work bios update might help, its worth a try, but I've never been able to get full control of fans on any ATI card with ccc installed. no idea why you only see 1 core temp, if both cores are working you can probably assume they're about the same temp |
