I'm gonna give you ELI5: It has voting futures for new projects. Investors put Ether to buy DAO and get voting right. If the project is accepted by voters (DAO holders), Ethers in the DAO will be used to fund that project.
And since the project will actually require fiat to operate those ETH will be sold thereby lowering ETH price and value of DAO. Unless a DAO2 is mass marketed to continue support of current price. Thx.  This was short and to the point. A very good explanation. So. DAO for speculative trading for the most part. At least for most of us. |

Wat? Are you 5 years old? eh.. Yes.  Stupid question. Not everybody knows everything about all the crypto currencies/tokens. Bitcoin i have heard of for a long time (even was lucky enough to get some in the early 2013), Ethereum i have followd for some time, but now there is so many altcoins that i am lost in the jungle and dont have the time to research all of them. ethereum is 70M premined, there was need to move some of mined and sold ethereum to DAO so they can scam/pump it more
I bet next is DAO2 project, maybe some smart contract for FBI to track ethereum network, I guess its main object was gov centralization of crypto the end of BTC, long live USA BTC 2.0 called ehereum!!!!!!!

Keep in mind, when you commit Iota to the Foundation, it's a donation. When you commit Iota to "Deals" you are agreeing to sell Iota to investors, so you will get BTC in return. Either one is a good contribution to Iota and "Deals" will allow some to contribute who can't afford to give away Iota to Foundation. Thumbs up! Nice, short explanation. good explanation. Ethereum will now start to get a ton more media coverage, which will lead to more price gains. Augur will be huge. Market cap will exceed BTC by the end of the year.
And many will trade in their BTC for ETH, and BTC price will fall. And then people will buy BTC and price will rise again etc... |

When the bankruptcy is executed, the BTC IOU's are assigned fiat value according to the day of bankruptcy. So the cheaper they can push them, using all the methods available, the less they owe. Legally, Gox can pay all that is owed, but the 2 years the court process takes, makes all the difference on who holds the goodies in the end.
You make some good points, but there is no way a court will use the Gox price when they set the market value of the BTC. For this plan to work they will need to somehow crash the price at the other exchanges as well. If your theory is correct we will see someone dump huge amounts all over the place and then have Gox declare bankruptcy. When I lift my eyes, this is all I see around me... Former military. Intelligence, electonic warfare or something.  Seems paranoid to me. |

Please note that only EUR funds can be withdrawn through SEPA. You may buy bitcoins using NOK funds and sell them in EUR by creating a EUR wallet if you wish to withdraw EUR funds through SEPA.

You have seemingly ignored me also, because you have not addressed my legitimate concerns about the selective information and selective withdraw privileges of gox... I don't have any selective withdraw privileges. Mine are the same as those of any other verified user. Using what I have learned by experience and by filtering useful information from public fora over many years to have a greater chance to succeed when I try to withdraw is not the same as selective withdraw privileges. Not all my attempts were successful, btw. I made a number of 10 BTC withdrawals. Some were successful, some not. I did it at a time when I had reason to expect a higher success rate, based on public information and my own experience. In this case people came to #mtgox and complained about an error message which usually means the bitcoin address entered in the withdrawal form is invalid or indicates an empty hot wallet at MtGox. This was at the middle of the night Tokyo time, and I knew they would fill up first thing in the morning. After a couple hours the reports stopped coming, and this would be the sweet spot. Hot wallet refreshed with old unspent inputs which most likely would be chosen first. They don't keep dust in their cold wallets, so I could choose a reasonable withdrawal size as well. No special privileges or access to restricted information needed. Everything is out in the open for everyone to learn. I am certainly not the only one unaffiliated with MtGox who used this trick. The fresh inputs went very quickly. My only fault here is telling you about it. At least MtGox credited my failed withdrawals back to my account. The 8 BTC withdrawal I made from Bitstamp this morning is still listed as "Finished", but nothing arrived, nothing credited back and support are quiet. AFAIK Bitstamp has no IRC support either. Thank you for information. I have a hard time believing that a Norwegian could be a liar. So I wait until Mt.Gox destiny is sealed, at which point it is evident if they have all the bitcoins or not. Even if they do have them, they are still criminals in my book based on their past actions, some of which I have divulged in this thread. If they don't, you will have to admit that you were wrong all the time, leading others to destruction. At that point there will certainly be investigation on your role also. All I want is to root out the evil from Bitcoin. I am not accepting any compensation from anyone for my losses caused by Gox crimes, unless the widows and orphans share the same pool prorated. I also hope that you cease to call them "useful idiots" solely on the grounds that their trust on the Foundation-Endorsed Market Leader has been obscenely exploited. I think sturle have had faith that the Mt. Gox situation will be sorted out in the end. He looked at- and shared all the possibilities of this not beeing "theft or a scam, or whatever. He was positive. I dont think he will have admit to anything. My opinion... |

So maybe someone can explain me this. If i check the mtgox orderbook on bitcoinity it seems there isn't much left. Only 607 BTC in sell orders and even less in buy orders. Is that right? They still have some volume so that's just BTC vs USD going around in circles it seems. And Gox taking a fee every trade...
And on another note, has someone had SEPA withdrawals processed since friday? Gox claims that is still working. Would be nice to see some proof of that in this thread.
Gox users were fleeing to other exchanges. Gox halted withdrawals because they didn't have enough coin. Fortunately the market plunged.... so Gox could buy back what they needed to pay of it's accounts. Because of the dip, they're flush... but no one cares anymore. As soon as they start allowing withdrawals, they will be ended. Is this speculations or is there proof? |
