1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'The Bitcoin History Book' in Progress (RELEASE: September 2024) on: May 01, 2024, 05:40:45 PM
Currently putting together 'The Bitcoin History Book' 2008-2024 chapter covering 2020 milestones:

I think I'll still on course to complete the book by September 2024.  It seems that the next four months are going to be challenging due to limited time and financial resources.

If you don't know, you can have your name/alias listed in the book for at least US$10 (see donation addresses in OP).  Over ten have already been listed, thank you.

I know you have mentioned that you plan to write the book to cover up until the 2024 period and will release in September this year. Given that you originally started writing this book a few years ago, I imagine the "final year" to be included in the book has actually slowly increased. Do you think that once you publish the book in 2024, you will make continual annual.updates?

No plans yet to release annual updates.

Fair enough it's a very significant contribution of time. For your online printed release via Amazon, have you considered collaborating with any others from a marketing and advertising perspective to bring more attention to the book?

I will see how things progress. There have been time and money constraints of me over the last couple of years. I do not think I've ate sufficiently either. My life has not been a bed of roses.

If anyone likes to help, it is highly appreciated.

Please support the book if you can.  There is only myself who has spent over one year writing it.

I messaged him without a reply yet.

Completed pages 50-225 (out of 300). Currently working on 2020 Bitcoin history pages.

Have you asked Theymos?  Most people here donated to him, expecting him to support bitcoin projects like he said.

Great news!

I'm still making constructive progress.  Currently I'm completing chapter 2019, which I hope will be finished within the next week.

P.S. If you donate at least US$10, you will have your name/alias listed in the book!

I do agree that it looks like we are seeing something monumental, a great work and a lot of effort must have gone into this. I think it is quite entertaining that we have an almanac on what is going on and I think it is quite important to see how you could profit from it as well. I believe that the best thing to go with right now would be just focusing on not just payment (which I agree you deserve all the money in the world for putting this much effort) but also getting some help.

If money is too hard to come by, spending all your time makes no sense, if you are getting paid a lot then it is fine but if you are not getting paid a lot (which I think you are not) then at least getting free help is better, ask for research help from people, they would spend their time but not their money, would be easier.

I thought that the community would have shown more generosity considering I posted 128 pages for free (covering 2008 to 2016).  I'm currently focused on 2019 summer Bitcoin historical material.

There is only 5 months for community members to have their name/alias in the book.  It will be self-published in September 2024, before Christmas 2024 of course!!!

Knowing the beginning of a thing gives one more idea about it, this is a very wonderful project which will help enlighten people more about Bitcoin and encourage them to invest in it, history is very important in life it gives one the knowledge of how a thing started and were is going, if this project of your's is established which I believe will be, it will give Bitcoin a new face of bigger success and establishment.
Your journey is a great one keep going.

Thanks, I will keep going until it is finished Cheesy

I have barely been active in the past months so I missed the updates completely until now and I just saw you now have a deadline.  Congratulations, this is persistence and I hope it will really pay off well.

Depending on how the sales will go, do you consider writing some sort of 'expansion packs' for the History Book after the release of this one?

Yes, it depends on sales and my own motivation. It has not been easy for the people in my life who have spent less time with me. If it pays off well, si be it. Ultimately, I look forward to the finished book.

Thank you for your praise for my efforts  Grin

Bitcoin history pages from inception to October 2018 fully complete. I anticipate 2008-2019 complete this month.

Other yearly chapters are currently in annotatee draft format. I look forward to finishing 2020-2023 by the end of June 2024.

Please send feedback on the 2008-2016 content, and don't forget to support my efforts (read opening post). I will do my utmost, whilst working full-time hours for my day job, to finish the book in the summer.

Thank you to all those who have already donated to the book. All your names/aliases will be listed in the book.

It looks like you are putting a lot of effort into the book. I like that you have done a thorough job of researching, especially the first few years. Some criticisms:

  • 1. Too much orange. I like the idea of orange accents since that is Bitcoin's color, but it isn't really a very pleasant color and there is just too much of it.
  • 2. There is too much emphasis on the price throughout the book. I like the price tracking in the side bar and I think that notable events regarding the price are appropriate, but I feel like yearly fiat price history sections with the graphs and the tables showing the monthly changes are too much. Anyway, that's not something that people are going to read because it is just data.

Have you considered a Kickstarter campaign rather than asking for donations?

Let's just say I cannot please everyone. The book content is the way it is. Thank you for your feedback.
