As I have said before, I have a busy life outside crypto.  It will take time and diligent effort to create a meaningful book. I am working towards the September 2024 release month, and hope the community supports me as I do.

Thank you

I get it - we've all got full plates these days, crypto or not.  I just noticed you first mentioned your book over a year ago now, and I've seen you've had to push back the release date a few times already... I just hope folks dont lose interest before it finally drops.

By the way, I noticed that you've been posting the same content multiple times in a row and then deleting the previous ones.  Why do you do that? This has resulted in multiple notifications for the same message, which is a bit annoying.

Re-posting causes the thread to be more noticed. I won't be doing it much now, because I am back at work. Sorry for the annoyance.

Paperback, hardcover and ebook will be self-published in September 2024.

Thank you. I was hoping that you made a mistake in the op and that the final version of the book would be available much earlier. But, It's understandable - these things take time and effort to do well.  Wishing you the best moving forward with finishing up the book.  I know it's a tedious process, but I hope enough folks end up interested in reading it to make all your hard work worthwhile down the road.  You seem passionate about the project, so I'm rooting for you and looking forward to whenever the final version does come out.

Nah I'll pass on that.  I don't find it appealing, and it will effect some of the page layouts (text boxes will expand with lower page text boxes without adequate space).  I treat every page as a work of art.
I understand. It was worth a shot. Wink
Once the book is finished, will it only be available in physical form as a hardcover or have you thought about releasing it as an e-book as well? You know how bitcoiners and members of this community are about their privacy and not sharing their personal information (including addresses) with anyone.

Paperback, hardcover and ebook versions will exist. I am more focused on the task at hand; completing all 300 pages.

I don't care if it feels or looks like futile attempt or something that is quite beneficial, I do not care about the results and how much OP makes or how much it spreads and all that. I care that someone out there wanted to do something like this, and that's a good thing, it's a thing that benefits the whole crypto world and we should be considering that as good, it's a good thing and it should be important.

I remember that there were few books that got some attention, I mean there are A LOT of books in bitcoin world regarding crypto but a few of them got super high attention, and yet I still think that they do get old with time, so we should be careful what we write, and OP has done a wonderful job regarding that issue.

Thank you for your wonderful praise  Grin

Hey Tyke! I was wondering if you have any plans to release a book for purchase in the near future. Or, perhaps it's already available for download as an ebook?

The Bitcoin history book target release month is September 2024.  The link in the first post is a preview covering 2008-2013 and some of 2014-2016.

Paperback, hardcover and ebook will be self-published in September 2024.

“The Past Milestones”, the index is just amazing and it’s making me read the book already. This is definitely going to be detailed book considering the index titles from domain registration to how it started with email communications, yeah that gives me good insight about this book and what is expected from it. I think we are going to have very nice book soon just because of one active and enthusiastic member.

I just wanna say, keep it up. I will contact you regarding donation after few days once I get my salaries rolled over by my employer. Being Bitcoin lover I would be more than happy to donate small share for your good work. All the very best mate. Hope to see your copy released real soon.  Smiley

Much appreciated so98nn.  Bitcoin is nothing without its community.

Hey Tyke,

As promised I am making my first donation today at any time. I will update this post once I send the funds. I am already seeing your efforts taking shape so far and putting my trust that we will have great copies handed out soon. Smiley

I will be making TWO donations initially. I am willing to send one of them Today while the other one I will send by first week of January.

Code:
$BTC bc1qktyzg2atx5paka2x64pxdwg54u7m2yn3cu2qxy

UPDATE
The first donation: $ 65  [ TRX ID: BTC 0.00147162 ]
The Second donation: $65 (Could be more, I will decide in Jan).

Will update the trx soon. UPDATED FIRST TRX

All the best mate!
Cheers.

Thank you for your help so98nn, much appreciated.  Your generosity is warmly welcomed.

For of all, thank you to all those who have commented on this thread including useful feedback.  It is motivating and helps me to assess progress.  I have nearly completed the first draft of 8 chapters covering 2008-2016 (see draft preview, some pages removed) immediately below.  The Bitcoin yearly history chapters begin on page 44 after introductory and other BTC related pages.

It's very nice. Here's my 50 merit.

Any idea where you're going to publish it on? Or maybe there's going to be a pre-order of this that you can order with crypto, right?

In any case, I think this will be a very successful venture when this is done, as there are probably thousands of people who are interested in reading such a book - even if they don't own any crypto themselves.

The aim is to self-publish it (paperback, hardcover, ebook) in September 2024. I haven't given pre-orders much thought as it is just me working on it (i have many other life responsibilities). I seek sponsors and dinations to help make the target publication date more of a reality.

There is roughly half the book left to do. If you, and others in the Bitcoin community, want it to be a success, please generously help. It is Christmas after all.

I'll try to nap (sleep) for a while, because I feel exhausted.

With the different sources and information regarding bitcoin, i must say this is well appreciated!

I vividly remember you, it was way back in February this year I saw your post.

I'm earnestly want to get a copy of your book. Hopefully get a hand on loads of stuff I omitted while trying to understand the tech better.

Bitcoin has remained the most laudible innovation in the techological space for decades and deserves to be adorned in writing. I strongly believe that the whitepaper isn't all there should be about Bitcoin.

We can have some more content to guide and guard people on it. Only an indeth knowledge on it can advise one on how to navigate.

I'm confident the book will do justice in educating people about Bitcoin without being too technical.

this is a good thing because sometimes people lose interest when they encounter too many jargons and I personally have experienced that because I couldn’t understand anything, I eventually dropped the book i was reading about crypto and deemed it boring so i’m hoping that this book encourages more beginners to leap into the world of crypto

I'ved tried my best to cover as many major BTC milestones as possible.  Furthermore, the book presents BTC price history very well.  It points out when BTC surpassed $0.10, $1, $10, $100, $1,000, $10,000 etc.

I don't know why, but I have always liked when the books I read begin with an extra large letter for the first word in a new section.
For instance, your first section titled Registration of the bitcoin.org Domain Name begins with From late 2007 to 2009...
Instead of that, I would prefer From late 2007 to 2009...
I obviously don't expect you to make that change. Just providing some feedback on what I find more visually appealing.

Nah I'll pass on that.  I don't find it appealing, and it will effect some of the page layouts (text boxes will expand with lower page text boxes without adequate space).  I treat every page as a work of art.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transactions - are we living in stone age? :( on: December 04, 2023, 05:54:50 PM
Bitcoin has a job to do in the blockchain space as do other cryptocurrencies.  I've never seen Bitcoin as the only true blockchain, and would never hesitate to use others.  In my opinion, Bitcoin is too slow to be a currency, but is highly secure for large payments.

To be honest, I am slightly baffled about the lack of generosity from the community.  Countless time and energy has been put into it so far, and I am determined to write draft pages for 2017-end June 2024 next year.  I'm far from a greedy person (live in a small terrace house with terrible heating and an abomination of a garden) who continuously loves to learn and work hard.  Moreover, I turn down overtime at work in favour of writing this book.  If you can, please donate:

I hope community members donate towards my efforts. It will help enormously towards completing the book in September 2024. I cannot quantify how many hours it will take until then, but I am committed to spend as much of my free time as possible. Thank you in advance.

Yes I did a few donations. I would love to see the finish product in 2024.  Good luck.

I'll do what I can to make it a reality Cheesy

Am very certain such a book will cover the previous halving and the experience of those who had investment therein when it happened up until the halving of 2024, explained with details and statistics of events.
It's a very nice concept and it shows dedication to duty on the front of cryptocurrencies where everyone seems to hide and under the guise of playing it safe.

All 4 halvings, including the upcoming one, will be covered in the book. Hope you support or donate to my onging effort. Thank you for replying.

Is it just me or is formatting broken?

If you haven't considered the block size wars (which is a big part of Bitcoin's history), I suggest you have a read of "The Blocksize War: The battle over who controls Bitcoin’s protocol rules". It mentions quite a few notable points in summary.

I would be nice the read the mentioned book, but I don't have the spare money for it.  I live a basic life within which I do my best.  I don't want to dive into the block wars too much in 'The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024', but it will get sufficient coverage.

The formatting is temporarily broken because I regularly attached URL links and comments to the page sides (MS Publisher!). It is a draft document after all Wink

I remember your previous threads and mentions of the Bitcoin book you are working on. I am glad it's progressing nicely and is on route to hit the shelves in less then a year. A book with A4 dimensions is quite bulky to hold in your hands. Does it have a lot of images and graphics that warrants such a big size? Perhaps a smaller one wouldn't be a bad idea. Anyway, good luck with the project and hopefully it will be a success.

The book dimensions allow for more information on each page, plus the side bars. It was decided to shift all future cryoto history books to A4 3 years ago. The DigiByte histiry book is A4 size.

Who likes the A4 page format?
