81  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Multiple cards with PCI-E-x1 - newbie question on: May 31, 2011, 09:16:05 PM
I know crossfire isnt best way to mine, but my actual question is if mobo can support both cards.

@ buying MOBO - additional costs... I'm just trying to use hardware I already have.

@ cables - Im from europe - shipping cost and time are unacceptable
82  Bitcoin / Mining / Multiple cards with PCI-E-x1 - newbie question on: May 31, 2011, 08:19:57 PM
Befor I start to destroy my old MOBO I wanted to ask - will 2 cards work on MOBO, which chipset (P31) doesnt support crossfire/SLI. I'm not going to crossfire my radeons, but just wondering, if it will work.

PS. Any advices how to safely cut back of slot?

Also consider renaming HD 5XXX to just BFI_INF

Any chance u'd do similar tool for poclbm?

Also any chance to ability to display Hashrate as OSD (consumes much CPU on higher aggression for me) or somewhere in GUI window?

EDIT:

Maybe just instead of restarting miner it should close current one and start backup one if available ( or checkbox whenever switch if idle or restart). Then after specified time return to check if its working.
85  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix Rising: Front End GUI to Phoenix Miner on: May 30, 2011, 10:27:39 PM
By platform flag I mean multiple SDK's installed on one rig. U ask why?
SDK 2.1 poclbm - 395 MHash
SDK 2.4 phoenix - 393 MHash
Depends on time and pool (with some phoenix creates little too many stales) I'm using various SDK's, various platforms.

By my second post I mean that Im idiot... Forgot to change password of worker... Found it just now.

Hi guys, its me again. Dunno why AGAIN my router could't reach deepbit.net (while on some checking page it was up). As some1 adviced I've changed DNS ips to google ones, but as we can see it didnt work. Any other ideas?
87  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix Rising: Front End GUI to Phoenix Miner on: May 30, 2011, 09:51:41 PM
Other bug. When using login zimpixa.CPU it stays idle, after registering new worker zimpixa.zimplap it goes normal
88  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix Rising: Front End GUI to Phoenix Miner on: May 30, 2011, 09:25:57 PM
Little bug I guess. When Stopping minning, then starting it again idle timer doesnt reseting too. Had to manually add 'platform=1', so it would be mice if u could add it permanently ( means ability to choose which platform)
89  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix Rising: Front End GUI to Phoenix Miner on: May 29, 2011, 06:21:18 PM
Maybe, if JSON API doesnt respond, means pool is down? But u need to add this first then...

Any chance to do similar thing for firefox?
91  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will bitcoin computation power eventually rest in the hands of a few? on: May 27, 2011, 10:24:04 AM
When only few ppl will have concentrated mining power, who will buy coins from them? They'll immidietly lose all their value.
92  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - now with BFI_INT optimization on: May 27, 2011, 10:19:52 AM
To fully automatic start mining:
1. Put shortcut of GuiMiner to Autostart (Start>all programs>autostart)
2. At Sumonary tab on Guiminer check autostart function
Then it will start everytime u turn on PC.

An option to detect, if GPU becomes idle (ex. due to driver crash) and restart PC would be perfect.
93  Bitcoin / Mining / SDK NOT important on: May 26, 2011, 10:10:21 PM
Hello.

I've made few researches. (damn, sorry for misspellings but little drunk...) People here on forum are telling, that one some SDK U'll get better results, on others worse. Its TRUE. BUT, power, consuming by card will also increase, same temperature.

Been doing 380Mhash/s on 2.2 SDK or 2.4 SDK. Changed to 2.1 SDK and 395 MHash/s. But also was using 15 W more, as well as 5C more with 100% fan (74C @ 75%fan vs 79C @ 100%)(same clocks). After calculating additional profit from hashes - additional cost of power = the same. The adventage is lower temps on card, which means it will last longer.

To be honest sms confirmation will just generate costs. Ppl should rather secure by sending mined BTC more often than just waiting for them to be stolen in some way.

Could some1 exacly explain to me what should I get, in which way insert to pendrive and how to setup BIOS? Once I tried it, but after 4 -5 failed tries I gave up.

@Veldy
By lockup I mean that page as well as miner can't reach server/site/whatever those two are connecting (not sure what exacly is locked in miner, but 'connection problems' appears). Meanwhile all other sites are working.
98  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1200 Gh/s Mining Pool] SSL, API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: May 25, 2011, 07:08:18 PM
Both lockups appeared when there was noone at home and nothing else than miner was using network.

Router is Belking F5D7632 ( All I've found on it). Changed DNS and gonna wait for next lockup.

Found out taht installed firmware is from 2005 and newest one from 2007 (but actual version seems to be same). Should I bother to change it?

I have not had good luck woth Belkin anything, but as always, your mileage may vary.  Is your mining client working over wireless?  G or N?  Does your router show you the signal strength as seen by the router [not as seen by your client machine]?

For instance, my router shows:

Number Of Wireless Clients – 2.4GHz Band: 3
SSID                   MAC Address   IP Address           Mode   Rate               (Mbps)   Signal (%)
MYSSID             xxxxxxxxxxxxx   192.168.1.xxx   802.11g                 54   80
MYSSID               xxxxxxxxxxxxx  192.168.1.xxx   802.11g                 54   82
MYSSID               xxxxxxxxxxxxx  192.168.1.xxx   802.11n (2.4GHz)    108   66   <== one miner is on this machine in the basement
MYSSID5      xxxxxxxxxxxxx  192.168.1.xxx   802.11n (5GHz)         162   64

As you can see, the transfer rates are good.  Testing on my network [tcpdump, nmap, ping, etc] all show a quality connection and all is good.  My Comcast cable connection is almost custom goodness due to Comcast taking a personal interest in getting everything running properly for me since I was a very early adopter of the DOCSIS 3.0 22Mbps/5Mbps service Smiley  Flawless on Comcast's side for months and months.

So, check your router, your network, your DNS, and your connectivity [as well as error rates and signal strength of your cable modem or DSL router (modem) as required].

Actually rig is connected by cable, so there is nothing about signal strength. Rhis rig (and my mining career) started 15 days ago, first lockup 5 days ago and last one today. Of course there were other lockups of random pages even months before I started mining.

@Tycho
Making it really permanent will just create tons of PM's from ppl that lost their wallet file and want to change address, cuz of like 10 BTC on page acc

I have problems with connection, which U could maybe solve.

Sometimes my router can't connect to random pages ( last one was bitwatch.com). Page is 'unreachable' until I restart my router. This wasn't problem, but few days ago I noticed it also blocks mining since deepbit.net was the 'blocked' page. Today same happened. I have routers firewall turned off, but this doesn't help. Do u have any idea what can I do to solve this?
