81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help Please - Vega 56 Mining Rig Troubleshooting on: November 24, 2017, 05:40:41 PM

for ETH mining, I followed these instructions to setup the cards https://vegamining.blogspot.com, than in GPU-Z changed the GPU= P7 1222/900 and the Memory= P3 1100/850 (the rest didn't touch), I get stable 44.xxx Mh/s per cards, and 08750 V VDDC volting...

did you use hellae's reg mod?

i tried it and it uses too much power..i had to use the other version.   morepower142 modded.

p7 is 1222/1200 and p3 1100/1050
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.1 (Windows/Linux) on: November 24, 2017, 05:34:40 PM
i am having quite a bit of issues with various versions of miners.

9.8, 10.0, 10.1

the thing is, I've used all 3 versions on 6 and 12 gpu miners.

the latest miner I've built sometimes freezes after the GPUs have been detected by the claymore miner. Sometimes the vers 9.8 loads immediately, sometimes it takes 5-10s but it seems the later versions 10 and 10.1 takes the longest. sometimes it simply freezes and the whole pc is unresponsive. other times when i try to reboot from windows, this very action causes the entire pc to freeze. closing the miner software doesn't work half the time.

the miner with 12 gpus has 8GB of ram while the 6 miners have 4GB. at first i thought it's due to the ram amount. but every 6 gpu miner with 4 gb of ram is more responsive than the latest miner i've built. the windows version is the same, motherboard's drivers and bios are the same too.

Often this means that I have to reboot manually and sometimes the pc remains in some limbo state where the fans spin but nothing is shown on the screen.

i've tried, reboot, clearing cmos, but this doesn't change a thing.

I doubt it's download errors because I've copied the setup files like amd drivers, gpu bios, gpuz, claymore and other necessary files from the same memory stick and copied to every new miner I've built.

Is mining ether more power hungry than mining xmr?
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 21, 2017, 05:27:56 AM

I'm also 4x vega 64's, 1990 or so (though i am on lc if that matters).  You can definitely get that wattage down if you care.  I had zero problems with the reg mod (from hella).  Definitely worth a shot if you have an hour or two to spare.
I've yet to test the new stak, but want to get that cpu up and running as well soon.  Hopefully push out another hundred h/s and check if it's worth it.

How? I'm mining ethereum at the moment and the best i got is 170w for vega 56 flashed to v64 bios (difference between load wattage and idle)

If i lower the core voltage it increases the power draw.

For some reason, after using ddu, the folders for vega remain though they have just a few lines of generic info.

I can't seem to remove them no matter how much I try. Can I just manually delete them before installing drivers again?
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 20, 2017, 06:33:20 AM
I still can't reach the power draw of 130w for vega 56 like hellae

The reg mod for the flashed vega 56 is causing gpu core to run at 1410mhz and even if I reduce it to 1210mhz it still draws 977w at load for 4 cards. Idle is about 130+w.
I'm using the common setup of g4400, 4 Gb ram.

Another thing is, i can't change the hbcc ram level at all. The slider is Greyed out and stays at 97xx mb.

I'm confused.

the definitive monero guide says use 1 of 3 reg files (1100MHz HBM @ 905mV,1050MHz HBM @ 905mV, 850MHz HBM @ 905mv) then the page references a youtube video that uses reg files from a overclocknet page, morepower vega64.  so which is it?

My main PC (win 10 aug 23 drivers, vega 64, 16Gb DDR4 ram)
At first I tried the 1100MHz HBM @ 905mV file but after a while it doesn't work anymore and I ended up using 1 of the morepower reg files and I have no idea which is the one I used. How do I tell which is the one I used??

Also, gpuz ver 2.4 doesn't show the power draw, in fact it shows very little data. I had to use hwinfo to show the core and memory power usage of 56w and 27w respectively.

2nd PC (G4400, biostar btc250 pro, 4gb of ram, 50Gb of virtual ram, windows 10, oct 23 drivers)
either way, I can't seem to get 1 of the cards working. whenever I have 5 cards together, there will be 1 card that shows a code 43 error. overdriventool says gpu is not recognised or driver not installed. But when I tried 1 card at a time, it hashes ether nicely but draws too much power. Gpuz ver 2.4 says it draws 220w.

overdriveNtool behaves in a weird manner as well. 1 of the P states for the core shows 1420mhz  and P3 state for the memory shows 1150mV, power target is blank and when I tried to set the limit to 70, it gives me an error about being unable to set power limit. After closing and restarting the ovedriveNtool, it suddenly shows the stored values of the profiles I used for my main PC (above)

hellae

i have some questions for you or anyone who's familiar with this card

I installed 5 vega 56. flashed them and in the windows registry, instead of seeing just 0000, 0001 to 0005, I see 12 folders 0000, 0001 to 0011.

some of the folders mention rx vega but I didn't check all of them.

I ran DDU twice and i still see 4-5 folders and except for 0000, the other folders contain just 1 line of generic info.

if i still see 12 folders again, Do i still run the reg mod file and edit the target folders for 0001 to 0011?

Easiest way to identify which ones to flash is under device manager.  Right click the GPU you want to look at and select properties > Details tab > scroll down to Driver Key.

Looks like this.

The important part is resetting the GPU's to default in wattman after you have used the registry edit on all of them and rebooted.

Here is another informative site to help.
https://vegamining.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks. Now it seems one of the them has an error in device manager

are there differences between the brands ?
like one brand hashes higher than another?
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 07, 2017, 12:58:21 PM
any idea what is the power draw of a vega 64 hashing monero? vega 56 hashes at about 160w?
Mines are about 168W...

i take it as you optimised it and hashing at 1950~ ?

Just 1400core at 905mV and 1090mem with 900mV.

what;s your hashrate?

There are some PSU's with more cables on it.
+ Some Gpu doesn't need full power connections, works fine on only 8pin power supply.

can you show me some?
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to power more than 8 gpus that requires 6+8pin connectors with 2 psu? on: October 28, 2017, 03:05:33 PM
I've always wonder how do people power their mining pcs that have more than 8-9 GPUs if they require 8+6 pins and each psu only has 4x 8pins and 4x 6+2pins with just 2 PSUs?

The PSUs need to power the risers (either using sata power or 4 pin molex) and any connectors on the motherboard itself.
