Get your project approved, and you'll have access to 450,000+ computers, just waiting to crunch your data.

Why is our Hashrate going up so much?

Probably spillover from BTCGuild and 50BTC getting DDOS'd

15 hour block, with 1 billion shares submitted.

Crazy stuff.

No

You're welcome

Did BTC Guild just jump 200 TH/s?
6  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Splitting hashing power to two pools, good idea? on: September 22, 2013, 07:14:39 AM
It definitely reduces variance.  If one pool hits a stretch of bad luck, all your hashing power isn't stuck not making bitcoins.

But you also reduce your payout per pool.

Thanks for the explanation. Wow 5000  shares a second, that brings up a question. At some point will this number get so high that a minimum difficulty be set on the miner's side so so much traffic isn't being sent?

I've long argued that all pools, not just Eligius, should increase their global minimum difficulty.

At some point, in my opinion, permitting difficulty-1 shares is not helpful because it does not provide feedback to end-line miners that the overall network difficulty is increasing.  CPU miners should be met with slowly increasing pool difficulty, just like the global bitcoin difficulty increases over time.

Slow, inefficient miners need that economic feedback from the system.

I will probably start off by increasing the global minimum difficulty to 2 soon.

And my brief venture into the world of Eligius comes to an abrupt end.  Thanks for the warning, at least.

I'm in desperate need of help with setting up my Blades on BTCGuild.  Yes, I've tried to read and comprehend everything on the entire forum regarding this issue but it just goes over my head.  I'm hopeless when it comes to Command Prompts and the like.  I need step-by-step, fool-proof instructions.

.5 BTC (half BTC) reward to the person who gets me hashing first.  Feel free to PM.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=205369.0

No command line needed.  Or return/sell the Blade and get something else.  If you are that unable to follow directions, you should not have purchased one of the more user un-friendly mining devices in production.

What happens if I drop out of a long round? Does whatever I have computed so far goes to waste?

it goes to 0. that is what u signed onto in the Slush pool.
If I lose internet connection and can't get it online again until after the round, I'm doomed.

If you lose internet connection that often, you should consider switching to a PPS or perhaps a DGM pool.

Depends on how long the round goes after you leave.  Short answer, though, is yes.  You run the risk of getting nothing.

New miner here with a rookie question.

I have one worker hashing away with about 3.5 GHz worth of Erupters, and everything with it is working great.  I want to start a second worker on a separate computer that only has one Erupter (to which I'd be adding more down the road).  The problem is, the pool is assigning this worker a difficulty of 2 (I'm guessing due to the first worker).  One Erupter with a 2 Difficulty = not many accepted shares.

I don't see anywhere in the settings where I can manually assign a difficulty.  Is there a way for me to change the difficulty of my second worker down to 1?  Or would I be better off pointing it elsewhere until I get more Erupters?

This worked well for me for the Erupters.  Just substitute BTCGuild's pool info for your pool of choice.

Thanks!  It seems to be working this time.  Smiley
I don't really understand the information in the terminal window but I think my BE's are hashing away.  Is there anyway to get the terminal window to display all of my Erupters?  It seems to be showing only the first 14.

To be honest, I don't know what most of the numbers mean either.

The BitMinter client is great, but it only works with the BitMinter pool.  BFGMiner/CGMiner works everywhere, if you want to spread the hashing love.

Slush is not doing namecoins.

FWIW, I have Erupters working here, Slush, and Eclipse at this moment, and have previously used 50BTC and BTCGuild.  I'm using BFGMiner and Windows 7.  What are you trying to use?

For GPU mining (Windows 7 & 8 ) I've only been able to get GUIminer working.  I don't believe GUIminer supports ASICs.   I've tried installing CGminer and BFGminer but I can never seem to follow the 15 pages of detailed instructions to get them working.  That why I love the BitMinter client so much... it just works.

This worked well for me for the Erupters.  Just substitute BTCGuild's pool info for your pool of choice.

Not to mention the extra $400 a week from merge-mined coins. Smiley

BTCGuild recently started merged mining for namecoins although it seems to return about 1/2 the reward as BitMinter.  And didn't Slush's Pool start doing it again too?

Regardless, all of my USB Erupters will stay with BitMinter.  I can't get them to work anywhere else, lol.  But seriously, when my real ASICs finally arrive, I will continue to use BM as my primary pool.  I always root for the underdog.

"I'm not following the established directions for connecting my miner(s) to Slush's pool.  As a result of me not following directions, my miner(s) aren't working properly.  Therefore, it must be a secret global conspiracy, all in the name of robbing me of my 0.002 bitcoins for the round.  INTERNET RAGE!!!!!!"

Rookie question:

I have 9 of the Block Erupter USB sticks hashing all on the same rig, which averages about 3 Gh/s.  Should I set the difficulty for the worker to 2, since the total hashing power is over 2 Gh/s, or should I keep it at one, since each stick only has 335 Mh/s of power?

Keep at 1, else endless discarded.

?
I've always believed that the rig should behave like one worker with combined power. Is there any reason for discarded shares other than bad configuration/setting?

Interesting note:  I have accounts on BTC Guild and Bitminter as well.  If I point my nine Erupters to either of their pools, with a worker set to a difficulty of 1, both pools auto adjust the difficulty up to 2.

I might have to do a little experimenting, and compare 24 hour totals.

I can't be much help on your group buy, but I just dodge the hassle altogether and buy then direct from BTC Guild.
