Your shipping information page says orders less than 5k are $17, but when I check out with 1oz of gold or silver, it shows only $5.60 shipping. What is going on?

Great thread! People often don't realize that shipping precious metals carries a higher value than typical parcels and must be handled in a unique way. I would consider adding USPS registered mail to your post. USPS registered mail is the safest way to send packages. It must be signed for by EVERY postal employee that comes in contact with the package meaning there is a direct line of custody for your package. On top of that, tampering with USPS mail is a federal offense, a standard not shared with private commercial carriers such as UPS and FedEx. The only other option with higher security parameters would be to send it by Brinks or another similar service. Every Registered mail package must be sealed by the sender using plain brown tape. When the package is received by USPS they will stamp all edges of the brown paper tape. This ensures that any tampering with the package is immediately evident. Most non bullion dealers will typically not have a private insurer that will allow them to send their precious metals insured. USPS will insure a package shipped registered mail for a value of up to $25,000. In fact, registered mail is so safe that it was the shipping service used to send the Hope diamond to the Smithsonian Institution. Henry "Harry" Winston sent the Hope diamond registered mail based on his years of experience sending high value jewelry world wide. He told a reporter for the Washington Post that, “ . . . registered mail is the safest way to ship gems. . . . I’ve sent gems all over the world that way.” The value placed at the time of shipping for the Hope diamond was $1,000,000. Agora Commodities ships all orders $5,000 and above for free and we always ship these orders Registered mail. We have never had an issue with this service. |

Whats better is the taxes that will be saved. Check on this first but I believe there are no taxes because it is a property to property transfer. I had a customer do that before when buying a truck. The buyer didn't want to pay tax so he gave the seller $50,000 in gold eagles. Then the seller just turned to me and I bought the gold eagles from him.

You should get 1g Silver nuggets or bars
Have you considered Constitutional 90% Silver ? You pay a significant amount less than you do when you buy fractional or 1 gram silver. If you do the math, dealers are selling the fractional and 1 gram silver products at anywhere from 70-100% over spot! Unless you are looking for a value outside of the raw precious metal like numismatics, pay the lowest premiums you can for your bullion. They will only ever be worth market value so why pay insane premiums above market value up front? |
