bump I just found this post on the CGA thread about their fix for the new OpenSSL vulnerability. Apparently it is called the Heartbleed bug and allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. It looks like most coin's Qt wallets will need updating to the latest OpenSSL version because of this, including bitcoin's Qt wallet. Ok Windows wallet has been updated (1.3.3.3) with the latest OpenSSL release (1.0.1g) to fix the "heartbleed bug" I am working on getting a clean OSX build environment so I can update the OSX wallet. I suggest Linux users update there version of OpenSSL and recompile the wallet. This update is not mandatory but is strongly advised. I thing, sgminer will add this algo in short time, so be carefully to buy cat in the bag...and also solo mining is too unpredictable, you can mine days without success, or be lucky one. Buying it without ability join to some pool is not good idea, simply smart business

half the miners left the boat. the other half will soon realize it is going down and will switch their rigs to more profitable waters.
What coins or pools are making profit past electricity right now? I'd be very concerned if I had spent $10k on an Asics miner awaiting delivery, I'm wondering if there will be any profit past electricity for those rigs at the rate things are going. ANY, lucky days for electricity free miners ... or naive |

I thing If you r able to have 100 different IPs, you can have 100 accounts, + trade history on each account...I thing its not real, better way is fair voting, no stress about we can't be at the top in few days if everyone who recieved 1m will vote. |

they offer 250 Mh, not Gh but as we know history of asics, there is minimum 500Mh in near future, because knc must get back their investment, so its possible that they have at least 500Mh-1G machines at thist time, for mining, and in few months they will promote a "new" product...history repeats |

Zeit is my long-term investment - NOT for personal gain but to help change the world! With 25% PoS in year One & 20% in year Two it would be INSANE to start trading it before 2016 at the very earliest.
Zeit will die before summer. It's literally the worst coin I've ever had the displeasure of owning. It's caused me nothing but stress. The entire development team is a joke. It will give you a heart attack from stress. |

Mining is only dead for those whose electrical costs are high enough to actually strip out any profit given the coin they are on.
Mining may be dead for one person, but not at all for another. Blanket statements like 'mining is dead' are made by newbies who are simply new to the profitability cycle of virtual currency and who likely came in merely for a quick speculative buck based on something they read or where told. These same newbies always make the mistake of thinking that their ROI will be a linear constant. It almost never is. It could be sped up in impressive fashion (re: latest altcoin explosion over the winter), or sit back and plod along like stuff is now.
In short, you either give yourself the necessary time to potentially break even in the least - or simply don't even get involved in the first place.
Remember, the lazy person always starves - the same is true for altcoin mining. If you don't work at it, you will starve too. The profitability landscape is always shifting: one must adapt to the shifts. Nothing ever dies.
Silly post. Lets say you invest $20k into mining with GPU's for Alt's, you simply CANNOT make your money back mining, PERIOD, THE END! How hard is that to understand? You are commenting about people making money now? I think youre confused. The only people making money are those who started in 2011. Their mining operation paid for all of their expenses by now. If you are just starting now, or even a few months back, you will NOT be able to break even. You are either confused or way too optimistic, which in this case is a lost cause. Bottom line is that people who started mining 2 months ago and going forward will not break even, even if bitcoin price goes up. Alts were tanking when Bitcoin was at $660, which is about a month and a half ago, they only follow it to a certain degree. Litecoin has been the most stable at around $25. Alt's are simply pump and dump. No one excepts them as a viable currency like bitcoin, and majority are premined and then sold when the value goes up. If you are in it for the hobby then by all means. You can't make your money back mining? I'm still buying more GPUs, you know why? Because there's a huge hole in your assessment, that being that alts will stay where they are in terms of price. Buy! and believe |

Just an FYI. Even using an X11 coin it will take you about 2 years of 24/7 mining to break even on a 5 card rig mining Darkcoin. Hiro is about the same. And given that this is just the beginning, I'd say that unless Bitcoin prices make a sharp and permanent move upwards, gpu mining will die off long before the 1TH scrypt miners even ship because it's already becoming unprofitable even before the powerful scrypt asics are here and we all know that it's only going to get worse.
Don't believe me? Run the numbers and consider all your costs, not to mention the value of your time.
The drop in btc effects all mining, not just gpus. Do you really think someone will spend thousands of dollars on an ASIC rig when it has a useful lifespan of 6 months, yet it takes 8 months to break even? If btc drops to $100, then most mining will stop. Only those mining on their existing PCs will go on, big ASIC and GPU rigs will have to shut down. +1 EVERYTHING is about BTC price |

People said the same in 2011, when Bitcoin price was $11 and "diff getting too high to be profitable to mine". For Scrypt it will soon be true, my KnCMiner Titan outperforms 300 R9 290x cards, using the power of only 3 of them. yes, but Im not a charity I have to pay for electricity, I have no choice...and if price will be only for electricity, I dont see any reason to mine ANY coin I like hiro, I like X11 but make profit 2€ daily with 35,000 khash is very poor... for switching off uh just mine at the start new coin for 5 min then shut down your rig, repeat almost 0 consumption and probably a big profit, maybe not now because everything is dead right now... yes, because everything is dead now, I will wait few days - weeks while it does not improve |

And also I'll mine solo, LOL. Cuz I am tired to find blocks for a pool and get half of it.

It's not like theres a really profitable coins out there right now, its recession baby. Cryptos are like lottery and you can only win a jackpot buy buying lottery tickets aka mining underdogs and hold. Daily mine&dump is a waste of time. True, I didn't make money on the coins I mined & dumped. I made money on the coins I held (BTC, LTC, Hiro?) I know, but I have not enough money right now to hold...I live in country where is average income about 600€ I wish to I had at least 2000€+ like germanys, I would be happy to mine any coin and wait... thats life Its good time to claim warranty gpus with bad fans |
