61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / mining gear recommendations on: October 17, 2018, 11:33:38 PM
Hi,

I have been out of mining for about 4 years now, I really want to get back into it and have a little bit of a budget ($750), I used to run 4 x AMD Radeon HD 6950, I loved it but when asics started taking over scrypt I stopped.

So I am wondering if its better to go GFX card route or ASIC? I am not looking for pure profit but also variety and what will give me a broader mining field.

If I go GFX what would you suggest based on value -> profit?, ASIC, would you suggest any? I am looking more at the altcoin scene.

Thank you for any help!

Hi,

This is one of the first crypto's I have started mining in YEARS, really like the idea of the project and having a solid community before moving forward too much.

I have just noticed most of the hash is at gpuhash.org, So it may be good if miners there move to some of the other available pools / dev pool.

Good luck, I have joined in Discord.

I am more of a backend developer than a frontend, but if you have a design that I can easily integrate that.

I am willing to work on your task why the funds are escrowed once we reach a price, I can show you the finished product working before escrow releases to me.

I do not as yet have much public work for show as portfolio. as I said most of my work is backend related.

66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unstable Bitcoin Connection on: May 08, 2018, 06:26:58 PM
What exactly are you trying to achieve?

There is no need to run 2 nodes on the same machine with the same coin. it will just waste double the space and incoming nodes will expect to connect on a certain port anyway and if you are running non standard ports it wont get a connection.

If you want to test your modified version of bitcoin I would suggest using an outside server using the standard ports on both sides. This is the only true test you can attempt. Try what Sellingaccs has suggested.

Hope it all works!

68  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Discord DM Bot on: May 07, 2018, 11:12:33 AM
What specifically do you want the bot to do? I could probably do it, but your title is kinda vague.

I want the bot to:

1. Join a specified server (I will be joining multiple servers)
2. I want the bot to message everyone on that server with my specified message
3. The bot must wait 60-90 seconds to avoid being banned

No thanks, I thought this was a legitimate bot request. Not interested in making a spam bot, sorry.

Agreed sorry, I wouldn't like to partake or aid in any such activities. I withdraw my previous offer.

Regards,

dlystyr

Hi,

I can do this for you. I can complete the work first and show you a working proof before any payment is made on your side. Please let me know your requirements and if you would prefer to speak on an instant messenger.

Regards,

70  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Reaches 9000 USD on: November 26, 2017, 08:11:47 PM
Its not surprising. Price is just going to keep rising unless there is a serious fork which can content. which so far has not.

I will hold bitcoin. Its becoming a common name and advertising is the first park of success.

I think we will see Bitcoin 10k - 12k in a year.

Essentially you are asking people to trust you with an executable that _could_ contain anything or do anything. Joel_Jantsen is correct if you want people to merit you for your achievements you need to provide the source code or at least get it audited by a trusted 3rd party developer on the forum.
for two days this page was viewed by 300 people.about 100 downloads.meemail in post. but wrote to me only people participated in closed testing.it makes me sad.it seems like no one is interested in helping me develop this application. this is to the issue of transferring my code to a third programmer. it seems that no third programmer is interested in this project! If this continues, I will remove this application from the public access and let it be used by people who are interested in it. they at least do not accuse me of anything)

I am not accusing you of anything, You have to understand that there are many malware attempts to steal bitcoins and if you want people to trust, you need to show that you are trustworthy. You have no trust in your account, which is also new. A good start would be to release the source, with a license, It doesn't make the software any less your own.

74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Running a Full Node, daemon comparison and SegWit on: November 19, 2017, 10:34:37 PM
A few nodes that caught my eye were bcoin and bitcore. Mainly due to the fact they are node.js which is a language I like to play around a bit with myself. Other than that are there any significant differences? My main criteria is to support segwit, can I do this as usual with bitcoin core or would I need to change some bitcoin core settings or will it just be a standard upgrade?

Thanks You

There's a couple things you should consider before depending on these implementations. Bitcoin is extremely consensus-critical, so using a client written in a different language than the reference implementation carries inherent risks. There likely exist edge cases which simply have not been seen in the wild yet with regard to bcoin which could end up costing you bitcoins.

There are also political considerations. Bcoin entered into a multi-million dollar agreement with Bitmain, Bitcoin.com and others earlier this year. Bitcore is developed by BitPay, and their actions around the Segwit2x hard fork were less than honorable. I would not trust either implementation to leave me on the correct chain by default in a contentious hard fork. So if you use these implementations, be very aware of current events re: forking and do not rely on default settings.

Hi illinest, Thank you for your substantial answer.

My decision favours on the side of bitcoin core, I will rebuild with this as I have no reason to change.

75  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Road to 1 BTC with 0 fiat investment on: November 19, 2017, 09:53:51 PM
This is not too dissimilar to my idea. I want to start trading with crypto and learn more about trading in general. Mostly my Bitcoin is bought from FIAT or some freelance when I find the time.

Congratulation on what you have achieved.

Could you please elaborate? I dont understand what this has to do with Bitcoin. What currency and where did you hear about an airdrop?

This section is for technical support questions to do with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency only.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Running a Full Node, daemon comparison and SegWit on: November 19, 2017, 08:29:18 PM
Bitcoin Core has supported SegWit since version 0.13.1.

Yeah, But I was wondering if there is anything in particular I have to do to enable?
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Running a Full Node, daemon comparison and SegWit on: November 18, 2017, 10:43:27 PM
I have been running a node for roughly a year now using the bitcoin core software. Due to other happening its time my server was rebuilt. I am wanting to support SegWit transactions as personally I believe it will help the bitcoin protocol. During reading about segwit I had also noticed some other nodes that I could run to help support the network.

Thanks You
