1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] Chrome and/or Firefox BlockExplorer Extension on: June 06, 2011, 06:35:52 PM
I'm not going to keep offering the bounty, but, if anybody else would like to chip in, we can keep it open.

Ah. Never mind, then. I guess you could just use a feed reader.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself on: June 03, 2011, 01:09:52 AM
Hey,

I've been involved with Bitcoin for a few weeks now, with only two to my name.
I do graphic and UI design, as well as sell buttons.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Diet on: June 03, 2011, 01:08:06 AM
Reminds me of ads on AM radio here

Since I discovered Bitcoin, I've lost 25 lbs, become more attractive to the opposite sex, and (as a side effect) became more effective financially!

Try today for the low price of $29.99. Act now, and get two Bitcoins for this low, low price!

I know. I thought a chrome extension to monitor money sent to any address would be useful. I don't want a wallet recreated in Chrome.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] Chrome and/or Firefox BlockExplorer Extension on: June 02, 2011, 11:56:10 PM
I didn't exactly mean monitor an entire wallet. My phrasing wasn't good.

I meant this:

One can transfer BTC to an address not on the network. Or even on the network. It would be nice if there were a chrome or firefox extension to monitor activity going to any given address (using Block Explorer).

Sorry, I'm a bit of a n00b. Though I do program quite a bit. Couldn't you just query blockexplorer when the user requests it with an address that they input?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [BOUNTY] Chrome and/or Firefox BlockExplorer Extension on: June 02, 2011, 11:36:33 PM
Hey all,

I'll give 1.00 BTC (I'm short on cash, and would like others to chip in) to the person who comes up with the most user friendly Chrome or Firefox extension which lets you monitor transactions involving a particular address.

This'll help you monitor your BTC if your wallet.dat is on a USB drive without having to plug it in to a computer, decrypt it, and restart Bitcoin.

--clarifying edit--
The bounty is for a chrome extension which monitors the flow going to a particular address. This way you can monitor things like how much you have been paid at a particular address, or how much you have sent to an address without having to use the Bitcoin client.

This might be useful in the case that the wallet.dat which has the keys which correspond to the receiving address is inaccessible.

This thread made me picture a troll in an Italian jester hat.

Thanks for fixing the transaction fee thing. I had something annoying happen to me today.

I tried to send .10 BTC to another computer of mine, and it asked for a .02 transaction fee. I set the fee at .02 and try and send .08 BTC, and it tells me that I need a fee of at least .04 to send it.

Argh! It's moments like that which made Mac OS 9 apologize profusely and disown all responsibility before giving an error report.

--Edit--

Nope. Still happens. I don't want to have to spend half of my transaction on fees!

I'm thinking we could so something like https://squareup.com/ does. Mag-stripe readers that plug into phones. The client could decode the public and private key encoded in a magstripe, then connect to the bitcoin network to transfer funds.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Angel Group on: May 30, 2011, 07:58:41 PM
I think the angel group should promote bitcoin, both online and off, through the collection and donation of bitcoins to causes both related to the currency and not.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Angel Group on: May 29, 2011, 12:26:42 AM
The group could help out the lake, too. Maybe we could have two funds, one philanthropic and one investment.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Angel Group on: May 28, 2011, 06:44:34 AM
This is more of an angel finance thing. No return on investment expected. Just pure kickstart money.

Additionally, the company doesn't have to list themselves. We decide who we want to fund and approach them. If they're willing, we raise funds for them.

Dearest Mr. Earnest,

I am a banker in South Africa. My company, Allied Investments, deals incredibly with large sums. I am representing a very large client interested in buying much sums of BitCoins. My client wishes to remain anonymity, and therefore is much interested in these moneys.

I propose to you a great opportunity for investment. My client would like to procure BitCoins from you today! It would greatly behoove you to become one of the many investors benefited by my firm. My wealthy client will pay you in currency of your choice at greatly better than market rates. Simply send as many BitCoins as you can (though, your sum must be over 100) to 1ELob8QtGMdHgVVCw5CRH9eXuBfYRHmc4u and your bank account information and passwords so that I may deposit your money on behalf of my client.

Keep in mind that this opportunity is only given once to you. If you do not respond within two days, I will give the chance to one of my many other investors.

I'll invest heavily in an invention my talking dog came up with to make water flow up. He either said that or asked for more kibble. Hard to tell.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Angel Group on: May 28, 2011, 06:02:43 AM
Will The Point allow you to fundraise in whatever currency you want?

I'll set up a website over the weekend. For the time being, we could have a google form where people put their pledge amounts which show up on a spreadsheet that's publicly viewable (but not publicly editable) on the site.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Angel Group on: May 28, 2011, 03:04:01 AM
Hey all,

What do you think about a bunch of people getting together to donate a bunch of Bitcoins to a specific Bitcoin related project? We'd vote on which project to support, with a new project each month, and we'd donate coins to that worthy project.

It wouldn't be donated in one lump sum by a group pool. Rather, we would all pledge money on the webpage and, at the end of the month, donate it individually. What do you think?
