1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - One Click Install Is Live[Updates & Discussion] on: August 10, 2014, 10:57:59 AM
Possible reason for sell off is people anticipate NXT prise to rise soon, as the 1.2.xx branch is just around the corner, so they sell to get more NXTs.

It doesn't make sense. With Ethereum is around the corner, no one seems to care about NXT next hype. NXT price is falling rock bottom everyday and dragging NEM price down with it.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ORA::100% POS|Qora Clone|Free & Fair distribution|issued NXT AE ASAP on: August 10, 2014, 01:47:31 AM
my proposal:
distribure oras to original shareholders.

why?
because it is simple and fair and should be done from the start.
as long as majority of coins are not distributed some people will consider ora scam or at least fishy.
Fair distribution was advertised as kora main advantage, you made mistake with initial distribution but it is easy to fix.
there is no point in overthinking it.

The initial poll was to distribute the rest to original stakeholders, wasn't it ? The way I see it ORA distribution is similar to Stellar's Facebook giveaways. The difference is that one uses forum account and the other uses Facebook account.

I also see a potential issue that some people mentioned. So far a original stakeholder our of 800+ received 1/3000 of 50%. Either continue with the plan to find 3000 stakeholders or distribute the rest of the 50% to the original stakeholders. Anything else represents a broken promise.

And the most spendy part is Giveaway http://coinia.net/qora/blockexplorer.php?q=QTKzXdhM3L3p9p7KULLtvdRFaahucypsN5
From Giveaway we pay for Qora signatures and for running nodes. Here's some statistics. Links to this thread were clicked 6598 times since May 26, 2014. And we have 33 paid nodes.

You can send coins directly to QTKzXdhM3L3p9p7KULLtvdRFaahucypsN5 or to our treasurer TwinWinNerD. You can find his address here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522102.msg6865002#msg6865002

I noticed that " Website development   1 BTC   In progress    nioccoin". It should be changed, shouldn't it ? I think nioccoin prefer to be ORA lead developer nowadays.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Logo Voting Has Begun[Updates & Discussion] on: August 05, 2014, 02:00:34 PM
If anyone keeps track of the progress and release of crypto 2.0 coins, you will notice that there are several promising projects that have been raising a lot of funds, among which are MaidSafe and Ethereum. Unlike these other projects, NEM was created without a large amount of initial funding, giving away most of the stakes for free or for trivial amounts of money. This is good, because it sets us apart from other coins, as a movement marked by equality of opportunity and solidarity without envy.

However, it is also important to realize that in order for NEM to reach its full potential, the community needs to come together and create a vibrant ecosystem that can meet the future needs of our users.

Towards this end, we are planning to prepare to work towards creating key projects required for a comprehensive ecosystem, with an emphasis on mobile apps and a fast, secure exchange, that will fully utilize our upcoming P2P asset exchange. To build this infrastructure, we need to raise funds to compete with the likes of MaidSafe and Ethereum.

Rather than centralize more power with the dev team, we are considering promoting a separate entity that would create and maintain several key ecosystem projects. To create this entity, we should have serious funding to hire full time programmers to work in parallel with the core dev team. This would help us to hit the ground at full speed, right at V1 launch.

If you have any ideas for good ways to raise significant funds (hundreds of BTC), please post them here. I am interested in what kind of thoughts and ideas people have.

Weren´t there allready development fund for operations like that ? If everything goes as a planned one stake should be at least 2k-5k, so why you just use those funds to pay salaries etc. ?

According to the draft development contract, that is not supposed to be touched until after V1. Anyway, those funds are pittance funds. What can 100BTC do? Not much.

We need real resources to fund such an important development.

10% - reserved for the core development team to fund development of the NCC and NIS up to the release of V.1 of the blockchain.
10% - reserved for the core development team to fund development of the NCC and NIS after the release of V.1 of the blockchain.
5% - reserved for the extended development team; those who are working on promoting NEM and the NEM ecosystem

are you saying that 25% will be just 100btc and the market for NEM will plummet to something like 250 000 dollars Huh

Even with marketcap of 5 000 000 million, development fund should be considered significant in any way!

How does one get hold of those funds? Coins are not released yet and there is no NEM coins in circulation. Plus the NEM stakes are for the community to claim, not for development. To me it was an oversight and everything is snookered here.

Further, the funds were meant to fund the current core team for their work until V1. Post V1, there will be some 10% left. But that is too late. We cannot be serially acting on roll outs. If there is a way to do things parallel, we should look at that as an alternative.

Can't you work for a stake ? I understand that there is a 5% =200 stakes reserved for ecosystem development. It is worth 200.000 $ at least.

If you look at the development contract, you will note that the current batch of developers will be rewarded for the time and effort they put in to get the ecosystem off the ground. There was no provision at all for spending parallel to this effort to make things happen faster. There is even no provision to engage professional marketing help. It was definitely an oversight.

Those stakes that you refer to as 5% is supposed to be allocated. But how does one get to it? Would anyone, i.e., a professional developer who is here for the money want to wait until this thing launches before he gets his pay? No one is certain about that.

Basically, there is no one who can make this decision other than the devs themselves. I think what @Makoto is driving at, instead of just staring at the jewels in the encased container, let's work on being an element in the ecosystem and start working on great things.

What is in that container is really up to the devs anyway with what they want to do with it post V1.

Launch the coin and API sooner rather than later. You can unlock the fund and other potentials that way. How can you raise fund otherwise if you have nothing to show yet ? I test the alpha and it seems stable enough. One the outside, it looks better than most other coin launch.

We can - in fact we are. But externals especially companies won't. Since the support that we've seen so far has been underwhelming we will have no choice but to "outsource" some things to contractors.

You could set a bounty for the required works. I have some doubts on your ability to pick contractors. Typical example: interim logo selection. It is not uncommon to pick a wrong person for a job though. I do management and most of the time it is a very time consuming process to choose a right person for a job. That's why a bounty system is the best. It allows different candidates to sort themselves out for a the job and the winner is often the best fit candidate.

We need real resources to fund such an important development.

For example, Storj is trying to raise 9800 BTC and have already raised 590: http://storj.io/crowdsale.html
With funds like that, it should be possible to really do some incredible stuff that will change world economies.

I like the idea of crowd-selling something that is intrinsically value. I think that would give our movement a good name if we can raise funds while also giving people something worthwhile.

9800 BTC is not going to change anything if you don't have a good idea and execution. On the other hand, NXT raised a pittance of 21 BTC and see where it is now.

One suggestion: you can ask Poloniex to organize the Stake auction for you. When do you plan to hold that ?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | Launch August | 100% POS | New Source | Early trading has begun! on: August 04, 2014, 01:26:46 PM
We definitely plan to get Crypti on other exchanges. I think our first goals will be Poloniex as people have requested and maybe Cryptsy as a start. After that I think other exchanges will take note.

As far as marketing goes, we are not ready to release any official details yet. We will be working with as many sites as we can in order to get articles published and build exposure. We are already in talk with a new crypto oriented group and will be working to get more articles on
CoinsSource and getting on CoinDesk in regards to the launch and as we announce features. We may do some split testing on ad spends to see if they are worthwhile.

We plan to make noise as we announce features and services and will release press releases, announcements, and articles accordingly.

This will also be a focus of our talks with the community. Certain series we might be able to offer small bounties for as well as building a social media presence officially and with the community helping to push it forward.

We are open to any ideas as always! :-)

Edit: we will also most likely be at important Bitcoin conventions with some sort of representation as well as pushing local meetup groups to city and regional coordinators from the community.

Very nice GreXX. The train is about to depart.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ORA::100% POS|Qora Clone|Free & Fair distribution|issued NXT AE ASAP on: August 04, 2014, 01:51:53 AM
@ARGpentem
One guy buying that much would be pretty interesting/cool to see. Would probably get some extra people talking about Ora too. That's pretty much my opinion on it.
As for my own share, I'm not selling anything atm (though I am giving away parts of it).

Thanks for the answer. I need to consider what my plan is with ORA. It sounds like you have a solid team, however even if I am buying it is unlikely I am going to pump the price though.   Cool
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ORA::100% POS|Qora Clone|Free & Fair distribution|issued NXT AE ASAP on: August 04, 2014, 01:43:48 AM
Just hypothetically, do you mind if I buy 20-30 million ORA in the AE exchange ?

Do what you want.  Initial distribution fair, rest is up to market.  The dumpers seem to have stopped at the current price, so YMMV.

20-30 million might be tough, currently 49 asks in total of 4'824'160 ORA for 598'036.26 NXT
(source: http://nxtreporting.com/?as=16194910134118257692)

Well Mac Red could sell me in bulk. I saw him having 50 million sitting there.

I agree with Jack Needles, initial distribution was fair, and so will the remaining distribution!

Lots of FREE small stakes initially from an open transparent process, with the rest held in trust to reward people WHO DO THINGS!

Mac Red WORKED for his stake, from designing, building, and managing a highly efficient & effective registration process. That's fair!

I'm very glad someone like Mac Red has a big stake! He worked for it, and he's also earnt community respect for his conduct also! Anyone who follows  Mac's example can (potentially) EARN a big stake too, if they get the respect of the ORA community for what they do, and how they do it!

Someone is touchy. I am just saying he could sell me in bulk if he wants. I am going to offer the market price for 25 million which Mac Reed of course cannot unload anywhere else.

Which 'you' are YOU asking? lol

I think there would be a range of opinions on whether it was positive or negative to have a big whale gobble up that many ORA now, but it's a FREE market, and obviously possible that someone with deep pockets might try.

The trading of ORA assets is separate from ORA technical development, and I'd have no objection, but that's just me. ORA is an experiment after all, and a big whale buy-up would make things interesting, but it probably wouldn't change things too much.

IMO the people with the biggest influence on ORA's future direction will be those who gain 'peer recognition' and respect from the community, and a big whale who stays in the background will have less 'influence' than an active person with good community standing, even if the active guy has a small stake.

Also, someone who starts with a small FREE stake could accumulate a large stake from 'power bounties' anyway, so a 'malevolent whale' probably couldn't do much harm. I raise the possibility of a malevolent whale, just because I know in the past you weren't very complimentary of (K)ORA, so maybe your hypothetical is exploring that possibility. Maybe you changed your mind on ORA, but maybe you haven't.

<snip>
and open source, let people know it is not a clone,it is unique..

Open source it then we will know if it is a clone or not.

I can see why people want the source to be released. I personally would like to see the source, and also design information (such as a detailed description of the PoS algorithm), although I can also understand why it is still closed. But there is no longer any doubt about the "clone" question: it is definitely not a clone of Nxt, or any other established coin.

I don't really like Kora guys so I understand the closed source part. However without opening the source, no once can know how "innovative" the coin is. POS is common place and all features being implemented so far are of garden variety ones.

You plural = everyone. I prefer Qora to Ora but I don't mind making money with either. I think you have a correct approach and don't get me wrong because I like your attitude.

Hey guys.

Did you recently checked coinmarketcap?

I checked it this morning and saw NEM falling to 900 USD per stake.

Do you think, there is someone who wants to bring down the price in an artificial way?

I can't see the aim of this behavior.

Maybe is it someone who wants to harm NEM or is there something I missed?

Whats your opinion about it?

You can't get cheap NEMstake to become a whale if you don't crash the price. Don't you know how this game is played?

I like how you guys make up whales when they don't even exist.

The guy who used to own 26 stakes now owns 32 on the asset exchange.  Especially when volume is only $1000 a day, it's very easy to unload stakes to crash the price to trigger a sell panic (thus sell walls) and then to buy up entire sell walls on the cheap.

If NEM isn't going to be released until September / October then it was put on the asset exchange too soon.  That guy who owns 32 will likely own 100s by the time of release.  It's very easy to manipulate the token price if the volume is that low.

That whale is doing NEM a favor by preventing the NEM stake price falling to 100$. Because if he unloads everything now, that will be where NEM price is. Be careful with what you are wishing for.

It would take 40.000$ to buy 32 NEM stakes and if you think he will end up buying 100 stakes, that would cost 100.000$ or more. Even to me, that is not a small change. 100 stakes = 2.5% of total NEM. For 100K, he can buy the entire supply of ORA or 10% of Qora or Crypti or Viacoin. I am not the whale buying but , my friend, be grateful to people buying your product.

do you think the value will go up or down?

Market cap is around 40th place. Among shitcoins. After all dumbasses dump their coins it'll go up to 10-15th place.

how do you know is 40th place I can not see in http://coinmarketcap.com/ Am I missing something?

Coin supply x Price

100 000 000 x .00001338 = 1338btc

Thanks, so what is it not yet in http://coinmarketcap.com/ ? or as its new it takes a couple of days to appear?

Correct. Should be listed in a couple days, wherein the price will begin to explode.

Once this launches and makes other exchanges it will explode even more Smiley

Hi guys, read and re-read the white paper. It shows a high level of planning and ambition. I have a high expectation of the team.
