81  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830 @ [edit] 320 Mhash/s on: June 04, 2011, 08:52:13 AM
Meaning I'd have to read up on RBE haha.

Anyway are these on stock coolers? I'd be really happy to get 320 Mhash/s, what temperature are they running on? As long as it's long term sustainable @ above 300 Mhash/s + no additional components (cooling etc.) I'll say it's best bang for buck.

Oh man. I just got to the part about the server. Shed some light on the other stuff I'll need to set up a private pool please.... -.-
83  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help me put together a high performance dense rig ;) on: June 04, 2011, 08:33:19 AM
Sorry. I just check since I wasn't sure. apparently it'd be 2.5A 230V if it's the one described in Type C. under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_power_plugs_and_sockets#Type_C

if any one knows how to check the current drew on your rig please let me know. I'd like to reconfigure my home's sockets to accommodate more rigs.
84  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help me put together a high performance dense rig ;) on: June 04, 2011, 08:29:25 AM
230V 13A i believe so it's actually less than the 15A their talking about. I'm not sure though

Don't you think the USB installation would require persistance setting? or does it not require since it's drivers? I'm not sure. thus the question.
86  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: EAH5850 users? on: June 04, 2011, 06:50:26 AM
Yes, exactly what you meant. I've been talking to local distributors and now communicating with tw to see if I could still get my hands on somemore 5850. But I'd like to find out if 5870, 5830, 6870 or what's the next best thing I could be getting if I'm not going to be providing alternate cooling.
87  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Proposed PSU and mobo for a new rig, or: Am I gonna blow this PC up? on: June 04, 2011, 06:47:46 AM
actually it'd be better if you just got 5830s instead of that 1 6-series card.

The 5830 could play many graphic intense games by itself (SCII Ultra albeit unstable FPS still high), with xfire you'd be able to play many games smoothly. For the price you might be able to do 3/4-xfire gaming rig if you will the trouble to 'un'-xfire them when u do mining. Just a thought. (I mean they're like a hundred bux a piece)

The total hashing rate (esp after OC) and power consumption would probably justify itself.
88  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: EAH5850 users? on: June 04, 2011, 06:07:46 AM
I have a few 5850 however since it's EOL product it's getting scarce pretty soon. Would you guys recommend I get 5870 or 5830 (or 6-series), could you add justification in terms of Power consumption, best bang for buck (price/mhash), stability (i don't have alternate cooling system, and only does normal overclocking with AMDOverdriveCtrl or ATIconfig), Re-Sale value, re-usable value (SC-II Ultra? L4D2?).

Great Inaba. Smiley Thanks for the hardwork
90  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (700Ghash/s) on: June 04, 2011, 02:03:20 AM
Thanks slush for the dedication. I believe it is most appreciated by members of your pool.
91  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Some newbie questions about pools on: June 04, 2011, 12:56:04 AM
Thanks for the answers!
Another question: I heard that you get more hashes/s underclocking the GPU memory to 300MHz,
From CCC it seems that I already have it at 300MHz
What could I do to improve the performance? I can't overclock since I already get too high temps.
It's at 300 because it's not under heavy load. It will rise just as you try to run the miner.

You won't get higher hashrate with lower memory clock, but you can decrease power consumption and heating a little bit.
~40W less on 5970, for example

Wow thanks [Tycho], I didn't know lowering my memory clock to 300 would save so much power. Back to the drawing board Smiley

is anyone having the problem communicating thing again?
93  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [BOUNTY] poclbm multi-pool support (claimed) on: June 03, 2011, 03:44:07 PM
hi frozen, great job. Can you explain simply how the commandline should be input? also would poclbm try to connect to main pool from time to time and if it does get connected switch back to the preferred pool?
94  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 Mining Guide / HOWTO on: June 03, 2011, 03:34:37 AM
Hi Inaba. Does not running a desktop and have everything in command help reduce power consumption? I'm currently using LinuxCoin and it boots into desktop, after I have all my miners set up I just unplug the monitor. I'd like to know if there is certain advantage to 'not' running a desktop. I'm still trying to grasp what is SSH . Could u point me in the right directioN?

I don't really understand the -f flag. Could someone explain in plain to me?
96  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will Many graphic card on one mother board work? on: June 02, 2011, 07:29:28 AM
I list some of the resources that you may be interested in while planning your mining rig in my Building "guide" including this.

Also, I think it isn't that difficult to find specification on the GD-70, take heed that,as darvil, I also assume you're not putting them in a case, and you probably have to solve the PSU problem (as I had to initially which I didn't and gave up) if you put so many GPU on on MOBO. (Max PSU prolly around 1500 W, you'll need more than that)
97  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Building a Mining Rig on: June 02, 2011, 07:25:03 AM
Just an update. I have all my cards running now and am getting around 2 Ghash/s on LinuxCoin v2.0a with Poclbm Stably for 2 days now

OC'd with AMDOverdriveCtrl
I have 2 5970 running @ 850, 300 getting around 2x(350+350) Mhash/s (75 degree Celsius)
A red Sapphire 5850 getting only 280 Mhash/s @ 765, 300 (Max OC 775 -.- 75 degree Celsius)
A blue Sapphire 5850 getting 350 Mhash/s @ 900, 300 (Max, 62 degree Celsius)

I have had problems with my working computer as the MOBO and HDD died on me, just got sort of a more stable one up and running.

A little deviation from my initial plan since I don't know how to hook up 2 PSU together, I ended up with a GD70 (5 slots, 3 used) on 850W PSU and my 'new' computer is M4A88TD-V Evo/USB3 (2 slots 1 used) on another 850W PSU.

I'd like to optimized the rigs more in terms of hardware and at the same time the overclocking, OS used, miner (kernel?) and such. However, I'm not sure where to head to now.

If you have any advice please do let me know. The rigs are running on USB, I've read another thread recently on using Ubuntu, Pheonix and proper OC'ing. however these are not my forte and I'd like some help in direction right now. (especially on the 5850 which seems to have a lot of potential for OC'in right now)

I'm also trying to source for investment to build another rig. I'd like to ask if any knows running 4/5x5850 what kind of Power Supply would I need. And I have been struggling with the 100% CPU usage on Windows (Poclbm) problem at the same time. Apparently this hasn't been solved it.

Please suggest some MOBO that might drop the cost, I'm intending to get more rigs and now cost has become a focus on my list of todo. Smiley

I intend to get another rig up with 5850.

Gigabyte GD70. get extender cable for 1 or 2 of the PCIe. and theres still PCI-E to spare if u have adapter.
99  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 Mining Guide / HOWTO on: June 02, 2011, 06:38:13 AM
Hi inaba, I'm using a USB stick Ubuntu LiveCD w/ persistence. I'll get back here to let you know if it works. I'll be doing x86 & x64 installations. Btw great guide. Theres another guide on the x86 yesterday but the commands vastly differs from yours, I'm pretty intrigue haha. Anyway let you know how things turn out.
100  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: poclbm using CPU 100% even though using GPU? on: June 02, 2011, 06:31:45 AM
I realized that if I don't overclock the GPU (meaning I disable ATI Overdrive) then poclbm works normally. Idk if this is universal, could someone verify if this is repeatable (forgot the right word for bugs). If it is we might be getting closer to solving this problem.
