1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin MP3 List on: February 01, 2012, 06:03:37 PM
It can be nice to have some reference material that needn't be watched or read, so I figured a list of bitcoin MP3 lectures and discussions and such was in order. If you agree and have some to add.. please do.

what if the mtgox owner steals the money himself and claims it to be stolen by some unknown hackers? we could not distinguish, which of the two stories did happen, could we?

It would destroy peoples confidence in bitcoins and the market price would plummet so effectively be worthless. Besides, he's is already making a truck load off transaction fees.

and yet the sheeple still continue to pile all their money into one exchange. i swear it is going to be our own stupidity and love for huddling together in one spot that kills this project. hopefully by the time the next decentralized currency comes out people will have evolved enough to realize why one exchange with 90% of the currency is RETARDED!! haha, maybe our collective subconscious knows decentralized currency is for some reason fundamentally unwise and so we are sabotaging ourselves.. cmon people, do whats smart, not necessarily what everyone else is doing. if bitcoin teaches you nothing else, please let it be this - DECENTRALIZE! lol, i don't even know why i try anymore...
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: June 17, 2011, 12:23:11 PM
Just finished Bloomberg Television after another interview about Bitcoin. Fun Fun. Nice people here.     :-)      http://twitpic.com/5cdvr0

My Bloomberg TV interview about Bitcoin was taped today.  It will air Tomorrow morning, starting in the 8am ET hour and going forward.... on Bloomberg TV.

Can someone who gets Bloomberg TV.... please RECORD it for me?    Let me know at bruce@onlyonetv.com    Thanks!

nothing about bitcoin/bruce on bloomberg tv at 8:00 so far as i could tell, it was not even a recorded show. completely live. maybe it is different on a television as it is online? I doubt that is the case, but i don't know what other explanation there could be.

At the very least the 50 post count should be in place for starting new threads.  And then there should be enough moderators floating around to see if somebody is just crap posting all over the forums.

Let the ban hammer swing.

incorrect, any reasonable individual would be able to see how this would lead to a major infux in unrelated responses. I'm not calling YOU unreasonable, because most likely you merely have not thought of this.

I'm glad this got implemented. A forum really is a kind of community, and the best way to join a community is listen first, for a little while, then start posting a little bit (and a newbie forum is just fine for that), and then posting a little more.
there are many reasons why having your mouth shown shut is bad for the progress of society. one instance quite relevant is this, on hell night last saturday a prospective bitcoin adapter/vendor came on looking for information on why he she accept bitcoins on his site, who was there to answer his questions? newbies trying to rack up post counts. what a great intro into a community.

censorship is ALWAYS negative and is a slippery slope, even if it does not seem so at first. Don't want to have to look at certain threads everytime b/c it clutters things? well put in a delete button and you won't have to. the way it looks now is that the 'troll' problem is the worlds 'drug' problem. an excuse to have more control and a reason to use it. views opposing the powers that be can be squashed without question. bitcoinforums.net has agreed to not censor at all and if things get messy, they will put in a button, that is why i prefer that sites setup.

EDIT:
that comes off as harsh, and i want to say that even though my account was banned on the night of the trolls, it has since been turned back on and the policy adjusted, so even while it has been shown that they are willing to crush accounts for opposing views, and delete threads for speaking out against them, they have shown to care about punishing the innocent, and have been able to admit when they were wrong(me being able to post again is case-in-point)

I see a lot of angry ranting, and not a lot of constructive criticism. THis thread makes me think more and more that this system was a pretty good idea.

Yeah, but thats because you only are peering through the bars of the cage from the outside and have failed to imagine what it is like from inside where you must run up your post counts ASAP if you want to be permitted to join the real discussions.

Do us and yourself a favor and stay away if you only intend to troll.

Its already been done.

Good idea, If admin won't do it, PM me and I will, but it will take me about 12hrs to do a full 50 reasonable thought out posts.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 10:01:41 AM
A dedicated newbie section, will have less of those posts, because there is no-one to scare or troll.

I'm sorry, i can't tell if this is a joke but i will bit anyway.. um.. so you are honestly under the opinion that the people the trolls are scaring are the experienced veteran bitcoin users and project developers? and NOT the new users who are trying to figure all this out for the first time? do you have a train of thought to back this insight up with?

Ok, correct me if i'm wrong but even since creighto spanked synaptic with that long list of trollish drivel quotes he has had much to say...
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New policy working! 15 Dollars! on: June 12, 2011, 09:42:02 AM
I seriously doubt a few spammers on these boards had anything to do with pricing...

what do you mean?! with this new policy, prospective bitcoiners come in and say "wow, this is mighty professional, they even have a daycare i can drop myself off in while the grown-ups go in the other room and talk about the grown-up things. All kinds of new technologies coming from this corner of the cyber world!"
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New policy working! 15 Dollars! on: June 12, 2011, 09:36:16 AM
This is precisely why ever since i was 12 i have said kids under 11 should not be allowed to speak.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / New policy working! 15 Dollars! on: June 12, 2011, 09:31:20 AM
All we have to do now is find a way to totally eliminate new people from voicing their opinions/concerns/questions and we'll be right back up to 30!

but no, seriously we need to get ourselves a RALLY post so we can get ready for the big leagues when we say things like '20!' and make it scrool across the screen in enormous fancy green letters.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 09:28:26 AM
just deal with it.

thats communism's new slogan.

best post ever.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 09:25:40 AM
Will this 50 post limit be lifted?
Moreso wondering because I was hoping to make business, not have to socialize or spam around. Sure, there are PMs, but when there's a perfectly good thread posted by someone waiting for a reply...

Um, i don't think you lowly noobs are granted permission to PM until you are an experienced spammer, sorry..
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 08:59:32 AM
You created this system because people were annoyed talking to all the new guys.
You forced all of the new guys to talk to each other for at least 50 posts before they can talk to anyone else.
You allow 1 post per ip per 60 seconds.

So now I have to deal with all the annoying troll-ass newbies for at LEAST an hour, before I can post to the "real" forums?

Thanks. You made your problem mine.

lol, yeah, this can't last. this community is full of too many clever individuals, this decision was a rash decision, eventually the regular posters that are volunteer moding will get sick of it and the actual mods will have to come up with an actual working system or the community will migrate to somewhere that thinks out solutions instead of filling their back pockets with the shit they found in their front pockets.

Couldn't agree more.

fyi - it is difficult to tell...

I agree with ...OP .

when you click quote it brings it up in the text box and you can cut it down to whatever size you wish.
19  Other / Meta / Re: forget # of posts, make it # of 'thank-you's on: June 12, 2011, 08:52:52 AM
You mean the trolls?  Lol

certainly you must realize that not all non-bitcoin holders are trolls...
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 08:51:44 AM

...50 Useful Posts.

this so totally does absolutely definetly NOT result in useful posts by any stretch of the imagination, it has a clearly predictable opposite effect. though this may work -
