Hey, whoever fixed that -- thank you!  ;-)

Not sure if this thread is monitored by support, but if so - could someone look into a "stuck" transaction for me?

I sold some BTC for USD on 5/28/2014 (TID# 10066079) in the amount of $32.85.  It's been in USD pending ever since.  I don't understand why the exchange would ever reach this state.  Shouldn't it immediately go into USD available?  I cannot find any indication on your site on how long it will stay there.  Perhaps it's a mistake?  Or perhaps there are not enough USD in the bank to cover the transaction?  :-)

Thanks!

Cheesy NOT SURE IF TROLLING ... OR USING BRILLIANT MARKET INFLATION TECHNIQUE

Not that they *planned it* this way (because it was scheduled).  But MintPal gets the "worst timing" award for sure.  :-)

I was excited seeing it fly up in the 3xxx's again, because I bought in a few days ago at 3300.  I was watching it climb, and climb, and climb - and then STALEMATE.  Everything stopped at about 3485, and then it was a roller coaster in reverse.

I just hope that quick market explosion doesn't kill the value of the coin.  I was enjoying watching it slide up on a gradual curve.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 17, 2014, 06:48:27 PM
I got burned by the pump-dumpers.  I bought in at 0.00003300 and then I watched it drop to 0.00001200 within a few hours.  OUCH MY A$$!!   Cry

I am glad to see that it's on it's way back up though.  I have faith in this coin, as I have faith in the concept.  Proof of Stake is a very interesting concept.  And I think this coin will stand out as the champion of "PoS".  Time will tell I suppose.  But for those of you who are not jumping on the bandwagon, you should read this wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof-of-stake.  The key thing is this, "The ratio of bitcoin's mining rewards to market value is programmed to decline exponentially. As this happens, proof-of-work monopoly will become easier and easier to obtain, whereas obtaining proof-of-stake monopoly will become progressively more difficult as more of the total money supply is released into circulation".

That said, Blackcoin is not speeding into a brick wall like most of these other coins on the market.  This coin is not so much for the pump-dumpers, but more for the long investors.  I would suggest dropping a few beans and buying up some coins while the price is low.
6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with a Zipit Z2 (crappy old wireless instant messenger) on: September 01, 2013, 12:54:15 PM
I bit the bullet and ordered a Hirose connector from Mouser so that I could get a USB connection into my Zipit and test out this theory.
This is the part: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=ST40X-24S-CV1%2880%29virtualkey64550000virtualkey798-ST40X-24S-CV180

I'm thinking that this is going to be really tough using my current methods.  Because the kernel is a 'sealed up' done-deal, and USB is typically compiled in.  So I will probably have to rebuild the kernel with all USB features attached as modules.  But if all that fails, I could always take the route of flashing a replacement kernel onto the device.

Anyhow, I will post an update in a week+ when I have some progress to report.

Tried to run that cgminer on an old iPAQ H3850 I have here running OPIE and it just gave me "error opening terminal: vt100" Cry

(although it runs ./cgminer --help)!!

If you are using the cgminer I linked in this thread - know that it will only run on a Zipit Z2 device (more specifically, one that is running the default and very outdated kernel).

I had to build it in scratchbox, in a static mode (all of the libraries are bundled into one fat stupid binary).

So yeah - it's worthless to any other device.  But hey - you should work on compiling it from source on your iPAQ.  Because, why not?  If nothing else, as a goof (ref: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtcbVUNO1NY).

If you're trolling, good work.  If not, please take the jug off your rig.

I BE TROLLIN!

I was kind of tempted to dump my used fry oil into a jug and take a new picture.  But I have let this go on long enough.  :-)
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with a Zipit Z2 (crappy old wireless instant messenger) on: August 28, 2013, 07:48:34 PM
Useless, but still very cool to see the cgminer scrolling across it. Smiley Does it make a good hand warmer at least?

I let it run all night long - trucking along at a FULL 52 Kh/s!!  It really didn't get much warmer than normal (which is still pretty warm, actually!).  Sadly, even on p00l.co which divvy's out some very small workloads, my Z2 never got a single piece of accepted work.  But it does look neat running, and I can't imagine the power draw is very high.

I think I might work on hacking that USB connection together and do some ASIC mining with it for the LAWL's.

Thank you all for the free INTERNETS.  I am stocked up for the week!  Wish I could convert them into BTC.  :-)

** ALERT: This message has been flagged as a self-reply to a useless thread **

I made an updated cgminer for the Zipit.  Link is the same as above (I replaced the file).  But I enabled cpu-mining, and added icarus (USB ASIC Block Erupters).  So if anyone out there wants to hack together a USB cable and make this a mining monitor - that would be cool.  I am still debating if I want to spend the money and the time to do it myself.

Also - if you are starting into this, use this as your base Zipit image: http://russelldavis.org/2010/10/21/proper-release-of-iz2s-enhanced/

I had forgotten how much better rkdavis's version of my OS was.  :-)

And here is a picture of my little Z2 trying it's best to CPU mine - taken with a potato (from Blackberry).

Request unrelated.

I am looking for somebody to go back in time with me.  You will get paid in Bitcoin after we get back (and after six confirmations).  Must bring your own mining equipment.  Safety not guaranteed.  I have done this only once before.

Must live in Ohio.  Will meet up at Buckeye Stadium.

File this under "why the f*ck did you waste your time on this?".

A few years ago I got caught up in fooling around with alittle instant messaging device called the Zipit Z2 from a company called Zipit Wireless.  These devices were supposed to free up your family computer from a messaging junky, and prevent the need for a child to have a cell phone.  With it, you can instant message, listen to music ... and that was about it.  The device ran Linux natively, and the developers were quite open to 'hacking'.

While most folks went the direction of running a full Debian OS on the device, I went the route of trying to build things that would run on the native kernel (2.6).  So you could pop in your 'experimental SD card' and run stuff from a terminal that was using the native 2.6 kernel.  But then you could also pop out your SD card and reboot and your Zipit would run the commercial software that it shipped with.  Whereas if you installed your own OS, you were replacing the commercial software.

Fast forward five years or so and the commercial software is now worthless, because Zipit dropped the while instant messaging for kids business.  Anyway - I have been wanting to do something interesting lately to combine my love for Bitcoin mining with my love for stupid and outdated technology, and then I remembered I have a Zipit lying in a drawer at home.

Many wasted hours later, I am successfully mining on my Zipit Z2.

When I say 'successfully', I mean that I am CPU mining with a 312Mhz ARM processor at about 52Kh/s.  I am attempting to mine Zetacoins through a pool, which is a little bit impossible.  This thing is too damned slow to really participate, but it does *try* (adorable!!).

I was thinking that while this is obviously not at all useful, it could be if you were attaching something to it.  Such as, an array of ASIC Block Erupters.  The trick there is that the Zipit Z2 does not have any USB ports.  Not to say that you can't add USB, but it's a pain in the ass.  You have to do a bit of kernel hacking, buy a strange little port that fits the back, and solder together your own cable.  This may be a bit more work than it's worth considering the cost of a small PC or a Raspberry Pi that is much faster and has USB ports.  Still, you can now buy these devices on eBay for around $20 shipped.  Also - they have their own little clickety keyboard and built in color display!

I had to share this with somebody, and maybe take some pictures to post.

In the meantime, if anyone has a Zipit Z2, you can give this a shot - and here is how:
1) Read up on my IZ2S release here: http://rayhaque.blogspot.com/2009/12/about-improved-z2-shell-iz2s.html
2) Download my IZ2S shell from here: www.oddree.com/zipit/Z2S-v205-BETA.zip
3) Download cgminer 2.9.7 for the Zipit Z2 from here: http://oddree.com/zipit/cgminer-z2.tgz

I can go into more details about how I built it using Scratchbox, etc.  But I doubt anyone cares.  Discuss.  :-)

13  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USB block erupters are now useless. $5 - $7 each. on: August 27, 2013, 05:43:17 PM
It is more like there are 10 coins created every minute and hard to keep up (let along find a nice block explorer plus exchange for the coin).  Plus many coins don't get on an API with an exchange so I can't list them (CoinEx and PhenixEx don't have API's yet to get order data). I try to have every coin on Cryptsy, BTC-e and BTER.com with the exception of the CPU only coins (because they don't lend themselves to a good comparison between GPU mining coins).

What coins specifically am I missing?

I was speaking to Zetacoin when I made those comments, and you have since added it to your list.  :-)  So allow me to 'eat my words' on that comment.

But I understand new coins popping up *constantly* - and I hadn't thought of needing an API to put it into a sensible list.

Off topic: My other favorite that would be nice to see on Coinchoose is Primecoin.  But that is probably a can of worms.

No sooner did I post that, that I started getting 'dumps' from p00l.co.  Which is probably why I was seeing my payout shrink.

:-)
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good day and new pool on: August 26, 2013, 06:36:25 PM
I am seeing some oddball stuff with this pool.  I noticed only a few people mine here (maybe five total?) and it seems like every day the money stops flowing to my wallet around 5:30 to 6:00 AM (EST -4).  I usually send a note to the admin, Ka, through this forum.  But he has never responded.  Usually it starts flowing again after a few hours it seems like the payouts are substantial enough to make up the lost time.

But today it's been about 8+ hours since a payout occurred, and when I look at the payout amount after I stop mining - it shrinks!  I don't suspect foul play - but I don't know how this whole thing works.  Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this oddity.

I don't want to mine into a void forever.  So I think I will mine back to p2pool.org for now (at least until I see a payout occur from p00l.co).
16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USB block erupters are now useless. $5 - $7 each. on: August 24, 2013, 08:22:03 PM
be is sha256 only, coinchoose has sha256 and scrypt comparison, so far btc is the best coin for sha256

Coinchoose is a neat gimmick, but there are a lot of profitable coins that don't show up there.  Not sure if this is the admins preference, bullsh*t politics, lack of updates, etc.

That said, you can mine Zetacoins (SHA256) with USB erupters and turn out 3 to 5 more times profit in trade.  ;-)

you are right,it is DELL ,very cheap,  600 * MSI 7850  1G , About 240Mhs and 250LTC/day

Let's say you spent the low-end of $200 for your 7850 cards.  Those *alone* would cost you $120,000.00.  Never mind the motherboards, CPU, RAM, ELECTRICITY, etc.  You may mine upwards of $580.00 daily ... but that's still a pretty long payoff.

What I want to know is, where did you get the startup capital to do this?  Where do you buy 600 MSI cards?  I am assuming that took you a while.  I would think that even high volume retailers don't keep that quantity of a particular card on-hand.  And as others are wanting to know - what does your electric bill look like?  I hear stories of "free electricity", but trust me that doesn't last.  Even if your rental contract doesn't have an abuse clause, any judge in his right mind would sign the eviction order to throw you out.  And if you live in the States, you can expect a visit from the DEA.  :-)
18  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 24, 2013, 12:25:17 AM
I do some dodgy stuff, but that just looks a fire hazard.

I have taken some cost effective precautions to avoid a fire.  I filled a milk jug with used cooking oil, and it rests just on top of the box.  If the heat causes the box to ignite, it will melt the bottom of the platic jug and extinguish the flames in a non-conductive coating of fry oil.

Because this cooking oil is used, it provides a few benefits.  1) It is nice for the environment.  2) It's free materials.  3) Even though your mining rig is on fire, you can't deny how much it smells like french fries (and that's a great smell).

The only problem I can see here is the false positive that a smoke alarm would play, so I have disabled that to prevent any unnecessary panic.
19  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 22, 2013, 07:51:17 PM
My mining rig is a cardboard box (but it's that GOOD quality cardboard).

I cut vents in the sides, and sliced out a viewing window on top with a piece of plexi-glass taped over it (to avoid an Schrodinger's cat mysteries with the stuff inside).  Then I cut a crude hole on top and I have an "O2Cool" fan sitting on top of that.  You can buy these fans at Wal-Mart in the States for about $6.00.  They are USB powered, but come with a USB power adapter (only 500ma, so not good for much else).  It moves a decent amount of air for what I paid for it.  Keeps things pretty cool in there.

And inside of the box?  Just a said little $15 USB hub, that will be maxed out on power if I ever add a fourth block erupter.

It's a power house I tell you.
20  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6 card rack mount frame on: August 22, 2013, 07:17:17 PM
It's running in an un-airconditioned garage that hovers around 95f, hottest card gets to 78c

95 is pretty damned hot.  I am lucky that I live in a house with a deep stone-wall basement.  Perfect for chilling wine (if I could afford some) or housing noisy computer equipment.  Even in summer it's maybe 70 degrees down there.

But seriously man - you want to put that nice rig into that hot ass garage?  I would be digging a hole or finding somewhere else I could hide that.  Even if it was at work, or at a friends house (who you would have to pay for power I am sure).  :-)
