61  Economy / Gambling / Re: BTCOracle : Bet on the future price of bitcoin ! on: December 13, 2013, 03:04:05 PM
Last week I ran a little chart based on their history page and it seems they were down around 20Bitcoins overall from April to December 2nd.

Not very encouraging, at least in the mid term.

Haha thats correct sir we are down around 20 bitcoins Cheesy Still struggling to make a profit the users are skilled ;o

Ideally the winning players should make money from the loosers, minus a small edge

Don't worry we are well funded and in bitcoin for the long run !

Thanks you guys for using our service !

But yeah, I should probably add that I think your policy of removing coins right after a trade is a very good practice and thats what I would do as well if I did not knew ourselves Wink
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 13, 2013, 01:34:44 AM
We will try to do it every 24hours at least, but it could sometimes take 48h.

Keep in mind that we will actually store the coins in an offline computer, so thats why the process will be slow, but much much safer than an automated online hot wallet.

So I don't necessarly think that faster is safer. If history is a good example, most of the exchanges that have been hacked were actually using instant-withdrawals hot wallets which allowed them to be wiped very fast. I also think many hacks were probably insider theft but thats another story as well.

Also, in case your account gets hacked (which should not be the case if you use 2FA), this leave you with ample time to see that someone ordered a withdraw from your account and to contact us.

For us it seems like the safest approach and thats what is our priority.

I saw that there is a 2000$ bounty for a BTC / LTC / PPC / MSC.

We will only have BTC / MSC at first but I think thats what needed in the beginning. We would quite like to get the bounty if thats possible. Also, considering we are almost ready for launch, it seems a bit redundant to  lobby the other exchange for it.

Just my 2mastercents thought.

However the lack of a standardised "mastercoind" is troublesome to do an exchange, we will be doing witdhrawals largely manually in the beginning.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 12, 2013, 08:33:46 AM
Hello guys,

As most of the people here I got really interested by mastercoin features in the recent months, however the google doc "order book" is not an very simple solution to trade mastercoin, and I feel that neither is the buymastercoin website which for many reason seems like the official recommended solution.

Thats why we have started developing an "real" exchange (where people can set up their own prices) for mastercoins / bitcoins which should be ready hopefully in a few days. Most of the development is done and we are just testing the system right now. So until the distributed exchange is there we will be offering a convenient way to trade mastercoin, hopefully helping in the price discovery process and proposing a fairer price than the current easy to use solutions.

Ps : I am not in any way related to the mastercoin fundation or do have any mastercoin. Also note that we are doing this project outside of any official mastercoin bounty.

Hello,

I am desesperatly trying to do the following :

- Check if an incoming transaction is coming into a bitcoin public address
- Without owning the corresponding private key

I dont want to rely on an external website to do that like blockchain.info

Is there a way to do that ? So far I am struggling. I have tried both "listreceivedbyaddress" and "getreceivedbyaddress" commands but none of them is helpful since they work only if the client have the private key in him.

Please help Sad This is for a bitcoin exchange btw. Else we have no other solution than put the private key in the production wallet but this is something that we want to avoid for optimal security.

Hello,

I am trying to buy a couple Mastercoin to do experiments, and the giveaway thread is super slow to do something.

I have setup a proof that I wont scam you over a couple bitcoin (since I own a business that had more than 1000 bitcoins in volume in a few months) :

http://btcoracle.com/mastercoin.php

Contact me by PM. I am willing to pay whatever is the best sell offer in the order book + 10% for 1 mastercoin. I only need 1 mastercoin since I need to run tests.

I don't think Amir is a "bad guy", but please dont donate any money to this project.

Just because a video is awesomely produced does not mean that people behind it are trustworthy.

Amir has a clear responsability in the bitcoinica trainwreck, that left several people that commited their ressources to the bitcoin vision financially crippled.

And now, you want to give him funds and trust him with your bitcoins ?

I can tell you what will happen if things go south, you wont have anybody to turn to.

Of course Amir's responsability is completly shared by Zhou tong and others.

But you are here jumping from project from project, why is your ex partner Patrick Strateman blocking the bitcoinica liquidation ? Can you answer that ? Can you try to help handle that instead of jumping to whichever project sounds the coolest ?

It would be great if we, bitcoinica claimants, could at any point in the future get any closure. We are far from that and all responsible protagonnists have left the sinking ship.

My 2 bitcents.

Couple questions for you Smiley

What do the colors on the multiplier mean? (red/green) I don't see an explanation.
More importantly, in the FAQ it mentions clicking something to check what price was attributed to your bet, but I don't see what to click.  Also, the picture referenced in the answer is missing.

Threw .05 @ up/15min, willing to do more once I understand how to check.

Edit:
Oh I see it. I think the FAQ got me confused, there is no link needing to be clicked; just need to scroll down.

The color on the multiplier have a tooltip when you mouse over : basically green is what we consider good odds for our customer, and red are very bad odds that we don't suggest.

The red odds are really bad because they are usually in bets that people can easilly abuse and manipulate the market : for example our top players have like 80%+ winrate in 15 minutes bets. So thats why the odds are only around 1.30 for 15 minutes position.

Thats also why we suggest "green odds", those are the one that are fair because they are hardly abusable (like betting on a few days or more). Of couse we want to keep the freedom for our users to play on 15 minutes if they like to do so even with very bad odds, but the color is there as a warning.

There should be a link on almost anything regarding a bet, for example :
clicking on the price bring on the mtgox data api corresponding to this price
clicking on the amount bet bring on the blockchain.info where there is the timestamp for the bets
etc.

Sorry, I will post updates on the other thread then if the case happens again.

I figured since the other thread was rather deep that it was fine

Best regards,

77  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The biggest thief in the Bitcoinica debacle? MtGox on: July 30, 2013, 07:05:05 PM
Question: How many Bitcoinica customers have received their money back?

Answer: 0

Some that were lucky (or close to the intersango team..) have received 50% or more if I recall, when patrick & amir were doing the liquidation.
I wish amir & patrick would provides a list of those, to avoid double liquidation or so... I wish they would do anything but I guess thats empty hopes.

As a major creditor (5021 bitcoins of claim), I just want to say one thing in this thread :

- I have absolutly 0 trust for the liquidator. All I have heard them do or say makes me think they are completly incompetent to handle this case.
- Whatever Roger Ver is doing, I trust that it is in our creditors best interest, much more than what other parties (bitcoinica, intersango, the liquidator) have been doing.

I have really low hopes in the liquidator, especially after they said that they would consider bitcoin worth 10$ and being uncommunicative for one year or so.

I asked taslim very early if they would consider bitcoins at a currency and to confirm that they were not valuating bitcoins 10$ but would consider claims in bitcoins as bitcoins, and he never answered me. Now it is not even this guy anymore at the liquidator office...

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback Smiley Unfortunately redoing the design is expensive and hard for us, and it is also a problem to engage users since we don't require accounts and stuff Smiley

good luck to you Smiley

your design is pretty good, especially the "tutorial" part integrated to the rest of the interface.
