1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Lightning Network walkthrough on: August 07, 2020, 03:50:40 AM
Seems like "history" is just a descriptive log.  I just removed the entry from History but that didn't seem to make any difference and funds are still locked.
Like I've said above (Post #50), the lightning funds below must be a "bug" and there's no on-chain funds deducted.
And upon deleting the local transaction in the history, your non-spendable UTXO(s) should be available again.

I have tried to tinker the wallet file (testnet), I've found out that you can manually remove those bugged channels by removing the "channel backup" entry in the wallet file.
But that's quite dangerous if you don't know what you're doing so, restoring the seed should be enough if there no active channels in your wallet.

Here's the the important part (quoting myself):
I tried to reproduce it trice and the "bugged LN funds" reached 0.06 tBTC while my original onchain funds is only 0.02 tBTC and it wasn't spent.

Cool. I restored my wallet and it's now all back to normal. Thank you.

There's an "Open channel" entry in History. However, the transaction ID doesn't show up in the blockchain after trying to explore it. (  I abandoned the attempt to open channel with the merchant and I did not sign the transaction).

How could I retrieve my locked funds? It's been forever in locked state.
If it's not showing in the blockchain, then perhaps it's saved as a "local transaction"
since the server where you're connected to won't see it in its database nor mempool, it will change into "local" from unconfirmed/others.

The funds should be restored by removing the local transaction from the history (right-click->remove) or read the next sentence.
For the channel (or funds), I still haven't found a way to remove those "bugged channels" that I've created in testnet
but if there's no other active channels in your wallet, you can just create another wallet by restoring your wallet's seed phrase.

Seems like "history" is just a descriptive log.  I just removed the entry from History and that didn't make any difference as funds are still locked.

I applied freeze sending. I then tried to force-close it but it failed: "bad-txns-inputs-missingorspent"

Any pointers?  Embarrassed
If the locktime (height or time) is still not reached, the error message alongside with the server error should be "non-final".

That looks like a missing input error which was caused by trying to double-spend a already spent output or not-existed at all;
Can you check your wallet for possible closing transaction that wasn't labeled?
Paste the "open channel" transaction's TXID (in a block explorer) and check the non-change address output if it's already spent.
Also check if it was sent to one of your own wallet's addresses.

If there's no "open channel" transaction, perhaps there's no established channel to begin with.

How come the channel status keeps saying "reestablishing" after so long without automatically unlocking it??
If it didn't see a confirmed closing transaction, it won't transition to "Closed" but rather stay "Open"
and "Reestablishing" is a state based from the other peer of the open channel, means the channel is open but trying to re-connect to the other LN node.

There's an "Open channel" entry in History. However, the transaction ID doesn't show up in the blockchain after trying to explore it. (  I abandoned the attempt to open channel with the merchant and I did not sign the transaction so that's perhaps the reason of missing input).

Channels time out if the funding transaction is not confirmed within 24 hours so you can leave it be. I am not sure how a force-close would behave in this situation. Theoretically, it shouldn't have any impact on your wallet since you didn't sign the funding transaction.

At the moment, the channel status remains unchanged as "reestablishing" so I tried to force close (it warned me it'd take up to 600 blocks to get funds back) but it ultimately failed as it threw this error:

It seems as if unsigned Txs have a longer time lock than signed Txs so I guess I shouldn't have to wait longer than 600 blocks to report back my findings.

Wow!. It's been over a month and still I see locked coin in a LN channel from a transaction I created but didn't ultimately sign.

Thanks. I just discovered I didn't get to sign/broadcast the transaction (but I'm not interested anymore in proceeding with it either).

Is it better to let it expire by itself or force close? Not sure how long it'd take if left alone.

Great guide!!

What's the best resolution if stuck with "Reestablishing" channel status for hours and no visible option for a cooperative close?
I already hit the "Freeze (for sending)" option.

Should I just go ahead and force close the channel before taking my computer offline?

Anyone knows the actual link to download the latest electrum LN test version?? I'd like to test it on linux.
9  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DECENTRALIZED EXCHANGES: why we need decentralization? on: October 24, 2018, 04:42:03 AM
Seems there are quite a few small decentralized exchanges but none of them seem to make it yet to the top 10. I really look forward to seeing finally a DEX with strong liquidity. Binance's DEX seems to be still in pre-alpha stage.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver to dump his 250k worth of bitcoins on: June 25, 2018, 06:56:41 AM
Roger Ver is an emotionally unstable and immature guy. Just watch his videos where he cries when defending his viewpoints or gets too childish yelling and shouting like if he was 8 yrs old.

He's grown resented because his BCH project doesn't take off as he expected. Time will confirm that BTC is king.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the Bitcoin market going to collapse? on: June 12, 2018, 03:39:38 AM
Over time you learn that bitcoin is still in infant, hyper-growth stage. You can see that Bitcoin is getting stronger so price will have to catch up. It always does. Your charts are making you hysterical ;-)  You just need to zoom out to see more clearly. You are still dealing with a super trendy top technology so you have to learn to filter out the short term noise.

Wall st is trying to dilute the conversation with altcoins and ICOs but bitcoin will successfully emerge as the top store of value coin and the world will then start to embrace it mainstream. If you want to help out promoting btc, you have to stop talking abt altcoins and focus the discussion on btc. That's my takeaway. Institutions are heavily accumulating btc and  are investing in the technology if you haven't noticed. That's your best long-tern guidance of where btc is headed.

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver to dump his 250k worth of bitcoins on: April 26, 2018, 01:22:13 AM
He's free to do whatever he wants with his Bitcoin, it's one less whale with a lot of Bitcoin, so I am glad he's leaving Bitcoin and focusing on Bcash.

I know. I just wanted to estimate the impact purely from a technical price standpoint to see if he should be over dumping based on his previously known btc stash or we should expect lower prices if he has more to dump. Same for Jihan since I know he's being supportive of Bcash.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver to dump his 250k worth of bitcoins on: April 26, 2018, 12:33:19 AM
Ok. So now that the price is much lower these days: was it caused by Rog Ver and team? Would his dump warrant prices this low (~$9K) or do you think it must have been someone else in addition to him?

Thoughts?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is dropping ? who can explain me ? on: January 18, 2018, 08:00:56 AM
Why Bitcoin is dropping ? who can explain me ?

and when stop ? any idea?

It's not really dropping. I noticed that it didn't get below the $12k rate so I think its the correct rate of BTC after it was pumped to $19k. Aside from that lot of people withdrawn their funds because of the holiday expenses so I guess it really affected the market. Everything is based on supply and demand so don't worry it will go up again soon, just wait.

How about now down at $10,500 ?? Just curious...
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Futures Traders Are Quietly Building A Big Short Position on: January 08, 2018, 11:52:49 AM
I have nothing against bitcoin futures short plays, but the 100x leverage is insane. They should remove that leverage.I think that bitcoin futures trading had a short term positive impact over the btc price, but they will have long term negative impact.Lots of big investors are trading futures, instead of buying and HODLing btc.
Without the futures martket, the current btc price might be more than 30K USD.

What exchange volume with shorts positions @ 100x leverage are you talking about? Read again in the article that the futures volume from institutional traders is tiny compared to the entire Bitcoin spot market.

Those retail shorts from Bitmex are small. Just look at XBTH18 Bitmex futures 24hr volume: its volume is ridiculously tiny as well compared to bitcoin spot.

So what should be afraid of from the entire bitcoin futures market ?? I think It's manufactured BS.
The hedge fund managers themselves are quoted in the article saying that bitcoin high fees are arguably a contributing factor to at least spread bitcoin FUD and short it. That's a lot more serious shit regardless of whether that's false. They are using that ammo against us regardless. So we need to keep an eye on how are we going to respond on that topic while the smart money shorts remain small.
Also, we need to look to Japan and satisfy that bitcoin market as they are our best bitcoin trading allies.

In the meantime, it's better if we squeeze those shorts beforehand...
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Futures Traders Are Quietly Building A Big Short Position on: January 08, 2018, 09:09:16 AM
C'Mon guys. We are massive, they are weak. Let's squeeze hard those Wall St short fuckers in their futures market. We will dry suck them to the bone as we push the real bitcoin spot market forward. WE HODLLLLL!!!!!!!
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Will Go to 7500$ on: December 22, 2017, 07:26:12 AM
I see in the delta is still $ 14500, and imposible go down to $ 7500. I will keep hold until bitcoin recovers. I wait for 2018 to come, and see bitcoin shine again

Could you please elaborate what you mean by the 'delta'?

Major BTC support is now broken! It's now irrational to keep holding BTC  :-(

What are you talking about....I still get just as much BCH for the BCT I've been holding and accumulating in my nice paper wallets since 2013!

sure as hell am not gonna sell now!

(whole reason for holding bch and not doing anything with it was in case this happened with the flipping)

BTC price drop might not necessarily be compensated by an increase in BCH price. In any case, a rational trader would at least short BTC for fiat (or convert to BCH) and then buy back if/when BTC reaches a minimum.

Most insane thing I've ever heard. Yes convert everything to a pumped up alt coin, possibly at its peak!

Yeah, except no. It'd only be an altcoin in a fantasy world full of neglected reality...and obviously you need to remember NOT to buy the very peak LOL.
