601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the US Senate on: November 18, 2013, 08:15:47 PM
It's pretty clear their intentions are to mention legitimate use in a nanosecond, and devote the other 99% of their time talking about how Bitcoins are evil and used for money laundering, drugs and terrorism.

Thank the lord the US Dollar is immune from such activities....   oh wait....
602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Listen in! Senate hearing! Live in a few minutes! on: November 18, 2013, 08:10:58 PM
What an opening statement, bitcoins used for illegal drug trading, terrorism etc etc.     Roll Eyes

I hope one of those talking to the senators highlight the thousands of cases of illegal and terrorist activities funded by US dollars over the dacades...
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the US Senate on: November 18, 2013, 07:00:44 PM
1 hour to go!!
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Real" full-node bandwdith consumption on: November 18, 2013, 05:51:20 PM
I don't get your Skype comparison, either to mislead or you simply didn't read it properly, the Skype graph shows consumption in MB, not GB, so its still way smaller than the Bitcoin QT.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Previous virtual currecny in China was 13% of the Chinese cash economy?? WTF on: November 18, 2013, 05:22:29 PM
Unfortunately, QQ was controlled by one company and the Chinese gov't shut QQ down overnight.  No such action can be taken against our Bitcoin since it has no master.

I would not underestimate Chinas ability to filter internet traffic, thats the scary part. If Chinese authorities do turn against Bitcoin....
606  Other / Beginners & Help / MultiBit client, how to add transaction fee on: November 18, 2013, 04:42:33 PM
Is it possible to add a transaction fee when sending Bitcoin out of the MultiBit client?, I can't see a box for it anywhere?.

*edit* Nevermind its added automatically depending on transaction size in bytes, still I was kinda hoping for a manual control over this aspect, no worries.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are some people publicly known to hold more than 100,000 btc? on: November 18, 2013, 01:26:35 AM
What would happen to the market if the FBI dumped all those Bitcoins to the market in one go?
608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I get in bitcoins even though I'm really broke? on: November 17, 2013, 10:02:58 PM
Get some FIAT stability in your life first, seriously. Bitcoin has a long way to go and the future is still uncertain.  Don't devote too much time on Bitcoin on the promise it'll be worth an insane amount in the near future, at this stage that's a gamble.
609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Soon all bitcoins could end up in one hands? on: November 17, 2013, 02:06:21 PM
where is the exelance? he made totaly wrong conclusion

Actually what he did was mearly present facts, actual data of what happened, if you wish to draw a different conclusion to reality you are of course welcome to, I've no idea what an 'exelance' is btw, an old executable file made by a guy called Lance?  Smiley

610  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think BTC will hit $300? on: November 17, 2013, 01:44:00 PM
wow, so we hit 500$/3000CHY this morn!
got me thinking about the Monday 18th meetings-in the forex trading world i dabble in, this kind of huge steady increase in the days before large announcements/discussions that have a large impact on the affected currencies' value is due to a leak on the info to be announced...
maybe were seeing buy ups because the US is about to give it a thumbs up. because its the chinese buying doesnt necessarily indicate much. OR maybe because a lot of the buying is outside of US it indicates the US investors know its going to be bad news and are waiting for the crash...

not much help am i Tongue

As much as I want to believe this and hope this is the case, if you look at the behaviour of other markets prior to big announcements, what you usually see is a pre-emptive swing in one direction, then as the announcement gets made a huge swing in the opposite direction, its basically traders exploiting the opportunity for some quick fast gains in the market.

Granted there aren't any actual decisions being made at these hearings, but it'll definitely have a big impact.
611  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stupid assumption about future worth of Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2013, 04:35:23 AM
If 1 satoshi was ever worth 1 dollar, the market capitalization of bitcoin would be ~5x the total wealth of the world today. In this highly unlikely scenario, bitcoins would have taken over all the worlds currencies as the primary medium of exchange. We are nowhere near this scenario.

Absolutely, at the very most 1 Bitcoin could be worth $100,000, but thats EXTREMELY optimistic and highly unrealistic (unless the economy collapses and we get hyper inflation, but then saying something is worth $100,000 won't particuarly mean much anyways).  I personally would not consider putting serious investment into Bitcoins, its more of a punt at this stage. Next weeks discussion at the US Senate are going to be very interesting indeed.

613  Other / Archival / Re: BUYING YOUR BITCOINTALK ACCOUNTS! on: November 16, 2013, 02:31:42 AM
I see the reason as to why it is allowed.

But it really shoudnt be...
Why shouldn't it be? There are legitimate uses for accounts, but some decide to use their accounts for wrong purposes.

Legitimate uses such as?, I'm all ears as to why you need to take control of other people's accounts in a way that isn't a total scam.

In example those wanting to skip newbie jail.

Yup, scammer alright. As long as the mods here are ok with this going on I will never trust or deal with anybody from this forum.
614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the cheapest bitcoin you got? on: November 16, 2013, 12:43:08 AM
Cheapest Bitcoin I got was this year, just getting into Bitcoin. FIAT cost £0.  The real cost was time, just using free faucets and Bitcoin crowd flower task websites in my spare time, built up 1BTC in 4.5 months.
615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will we see first? BTC=$300? or BTC=$500? on: November 16, 2013, 12:31:46 AM
I feel like there's a big drop coming....

617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to revolt against the bitcoin foundations 'taint' idea's on: November 15, 2013, 05:05:04 PM
What the hells happened to this forum?!?. People making massive wild assumptions which reach the point of somehow becomming fact, then turning into a fever and all kinds of negative "BURN THE WITCHES" threads popping up.

I had hoped there would be more adults here, ones willing to , you know, actually realise its mearly at the DISCUSSION STAGE, that being an adult is looking at a situation from ALL ANGLES, to discuss, debate, and THEN start forming strategys and conclusions.

This is very very early days still, and yet people here are acting like TEH BIG CONSPIRACY TAKEOVER HAS BEGUN!!

Gimme a break....
618  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: November 15, 2013, 04:55:33 PM
CoinJoin is like collecting 20 of 100 USD bills into a hat and then passing the hat to another group of 20 people, each one takes its 100 USD bill. Noone knows who gives you which bill.

Ah ok, so this would basically be useless for any kind of eCommerce, or paying in restaurant with bitcoins etc because they wouldn't know who paid for it.  I sincerely hope this would then be an optional way of transferring rather than a replacement right?, otherwise it would pretty much destroy Bitcoin as a means for paying for goods.
619  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: November 15, 2013, 03:26:27 PM
Ok so most of this goes way over my head of understanding, so can someone just tell me. Using such a system as this, if I make a payment to an address, does the receiver still see my address as the address the payment came from, or do they receive the correct amount of Bitcoins, but from some other unknown address?
620  Other / Archival / Re: BUYING YOUR BITCOINTALK ACCOUNTS! on: November 14, 2013, 10:57:54 PM
Surely this is against forum rules. Mislead people with positive review of something using older accounts to look more genuine.

Buying and selling accounts is allowed by the forum rules.
Roll Eyes

If thats true, thats both surprising and shocking!. It could be soo easily abused to falisfy a sense of trust in someone who's actually out to scam.
