btw: what does the message exactly mean: 3 hours until mining?

I have one S9 acting erratic and dropping a board now and then. So im playing with the freq. It reboots a few times and starts hashing, but just lost all 3 boards now, so ill try another freq. 637 it doesnt seem to like at all..
222  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 20, 2018, 05:11:09 PM
@Tim: thats a nice result, but do you get this with a 1600W psu?? I guess not... Grin
223  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 18, 2018, 06:21:17 AM
I was only able to get 18th with an s9i. The more efficient the miner the higher it will hash at whichever clock speed.

okay.... But is 16TH the max on 800Mhz with the 13.5 S9 then?
how to squeeze more out of it?
224  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 17, 2018, 08:55:12 PM
Taserz: can you tell me how to get the 17-18th with the 1600w psu?
i get "only" 16th max.
225  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 17, 2018, 02:40:39 PM
where i'm doing wrong

flashed with 650 fix freq for s9 13.5Th 1600W psu

copy bmminer 8.80

but nothing happened and still getting  13.5 Th/s

you need to alter the frequency in "advanced" menu as described. Start with 700-725Mhz.

these large blocks over and over really SUCK!
Especially when BTC is so damn low...
227  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 16, 2018, 07:44:07 AM
i find flashing a little tricky, so if you can post me a link to the correct firmware i should have to use your modification, i am willing to try this also. Poosibly its the incorrect fw which causes the lower hash?

Also: when i set the 1S9 to 837Mhz, it wont start, and in the status screen it gives 1175Mhz!!
Also same in web page of miner, kernel log, it says max. freq is set to 1175Mhz...
Is this a bug?

228  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 16, 2018, 07:10:53 AM
voila:

16TH@800mhz:

Whopping temp  Huh

am readout: crisis when you see this!!  Shocked

229  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 15, 2018, 11:25:54 PM
Ambient is approx. 22 centigrade. Most other miners hover above 80 cencius. Chip temps of 65-70 deg.

personally i find 100 deg. awfully hot.

My other modded S9 runs at 16Th 800mhz, at 89 degrees, chiptemp 76 71 71 (all values from awesome miner)

The program gets its input from the api access of the miner itself, so i assume it should be equal??
230  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 15, 2018, 10:43:25 PM
Eeehhh....
I have one miner that gives a temperature of 147 celcius!! (in awesome miner)
Chip temps 88 79 78 (in awesome miner). Temps in webpage of miner are 100 99 98 celcius... Huh?

What can be wrong here?

In order to keep the temp. a bit lower as the others, i have set frequency at 625, which gives 13.45 Th.

How reliable is the readout, and why does it give these values?

its a 13.5Th S9 machine...

is there any realistic speculative value of DGB next 6 months?
In other words: how realistic would $1 be dec. 2018?
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Unprofitable - What next? on: August 12, 2018, 11:19:25 AM
I am planning to mine one more month, and after that I will sell my gpus if mining doesn't become profitable again.
In the meantime I will mine some new coins which could rise in price in few months or a year.

which coins do you mine then? Where do you find them, and how do you select them?
233  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 12, 2018, 07:34:32 AM
@taserz: today i want to try one of my S9's to flash to your modded fw and try to squeeze ot 16-17Th with the stock psu.
Can you tell me what temperatures do with this mod, as there is not that much info about it. Will the miner work more efficient and temps stay roughly equal, or will they significantly rise?
I assume the latter, as the extra power should go somewhere...?  Smiley

Thanks.

Edit:

So, i installed (actually my son did, but hey...) the firmware, and it seems to work.
I put it onto 2 of my miners: one with one defective hashboard, and one that is on my top drawer and one of the coolest miners at 77 celcius as we speak.
The 2-boarder indeed increased quite some at 10.7Th stable@800 and 825Mhz. When set to 850, it drops to 10.3TH. Temp rises, but not able to compare.
The other has been set to 800 also, not tried higher yet, and gets a decent 16.3Th@800Mhz setting, with a temp. increase of 11 deg. reaching 88 celcius.

One thing which i find a bit odd, is that my Awesome miner states 16.3Th, while my pool within 10-20 seconds went to 13Th readout, and further increases by .1Th each 5-10 minutes or so. As we speak it has crawled to 13.8, still not doing better as some of my S9i's (exept according to awesome miner and the actual webbased miner screen.)

All i did so far was setting the frequency.

What are the advised next steps?

Also a few tips/requests if possible:

- Can you make the advanced screen appear just in the manu, instead of url change?
- is there apossibility to set the fan speeds?
- please add in your description how to change the rights of the firmware, not everyone knows Linux that well... Smiley
- it would be highly advisable to make a small index of which firmware does what to which miner.
- i find it a little confusing how you set the 2 firmwares in your start post and state both are optimised for S9i (?)

No harm was meant by my comment, just good intentions. I know from expirience that as im not native, sometimes i miss the "subtle way" of writing.
234  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~Time to Max Out Your Bitmain PSU~ on: August 10, 2018, 07:34:29 AM
@Taserz: Is it possible to combine all your work and info in the first post by editing, so all the info is in one post?
More easy to find, and more clear to people that are not so familiar with flashing etcetera. Also,as some other people post their linkt and software in your post as well, which is confusing, it might prevent unwanted errors. (especially for non-natives...)

Not meaning to criticize, just giving my opinion.

Im looking for the best firmware to put on the S9 and S9i with 1600W psu's. Is it the one in your first post? Seems to be the one for 1800W as far as i understand. Thank you.

Keep on the great job you're doing!  Cheesy

Anyone seen the sem liquid immersion cooling board for the 841 blades?
I am really curious if they make these available for the new 7nm hashboards as well.
IF they do, i definately go for a liquid setup and push the max out of the new 7nm tech. (depending on price naturally...)

Any news about the release date yet?

again!!!
So I unplugged my S9 again...

i really hope that complete farms follow your way of thinking....  Cheesy

Here are some tests Phil did playing with the voltage command. His best result would come in just under 1200w.

Honestly I wouldn't bank on using that psu, best grab something bigger so you don't have to worry, and can utilise the full hashrate.

thats a bit crap... Sad i have 10 laying brandnew....

Only other option is swapping with the bitmain psu's...  (or use one extra of them in them in parallel, and have this one extra psu feed 9 other 841's...)
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why red again. It should slowly turn green on: August 08, 2018, 09:54:54 AM
i thought we'd finally would go uphill now after a crappy first 6 months. I really get annoyed to se it dump downhill AGAIN... never reaching a previous peak is what worries me the most... It looks like a ball that bounces up and down, losing energy in each down, not to reach a previous high. We all know where that ends.... A flat roll, beeeeeeeeeeep: dead. Angry

Price update:
# Avalon 841 only 550EUR net excl. vat
# CU- 1600Watt PSU only 100 EUR net excl. vat

How would these do with 1200W gold server psu's?
I know my bitmain A3 sometimes pulls too much with hot weather and slightly overloads with them. But thats a room-heater compared to S9, probably also compared to A841 ?

great that this nut has been cracked.

Just returned from 2 week holiday.
Sad to see that in 2 weeks we only cracked 6 blockts...
The last 6-7 blocks are as deep red as they can be... Not a goodforesight....
Hope our luck turns and we get some good quickies right now to compensate... Sad

Can it have something to do with the hot weather? I mean, mybe many people shutting down their equipment, or...? Is there a graph of global hashrate where we can see this?
