1.  Alts have no value of their own

2.  The price of alts is a function of how much greed / fear is in the market.

3. Fear / greed is determined by Bitcoin price performance.

4.  Alts are denominated in BTC.

5.  When people are greedy they buy alts using BTC.

6.  When people are fearful they sell alts using BTC.

ok, i understand most, but this would be true if actually people buy and sell.

When btc gets a dump, and the same microsecond the alts get a dump as well, it cannot be people being greedy/fearful, right? it must be a coupling in some form to the mastercoin, btc?

im not saying anything about the intrinsical value of an alt itself, nor if its a good or a bad alt, but just these fluctuations intrigue me and i dont really understand...

Guys, i have a (maybe stupid, but hey...) question.

I dont really understand why alts drop and rise in value with btc, when their chart is valued in BTC.
Example:
Suppose BTC is $5K and alt-X is 0.01BTC.
BTC drops to $4500, then ALT-X still should be .01BTC, as their fiat value is dropped as well, as .01btc is now only $45, as in the first scenatio it was $50 ?

Strangely, the value of ALT-x is also dropped, to lets say .008BTC, so now valued at $36

Logically i would think that the BTC value should be more or less equal ? Why is it varying so much? The variance should be only in the coin itself? I cant imagine that someone dumps some BTC and does the same with "his" alts...?

The opposite is true also, als alts increase in BTC value when BTC rises, they actually increase double compared in fiat...?

Thanks.

It is all quite funny though...

In my mind i see some old billionaires playing games together like Stadler and Waldorf, buying some coin and generating a spike.
All of a sudden everyone here is bullish again, we go past 20k in 2019, graphs, charts, and all the bells and whistles...

A childs hand is easily filled i guess...  Cheesy Cheesy

And Stadler and Waldorf are laughing about all our commens and hope, drink their whiskey glasses empty, pour another double, and press "Sell" in a few hours to take a laugh about this thread again...  Grin Grin

In short: All those charts maps drawings lines and magic glass balls are all bogus... Smiley

my agnostic non-knowledgable 2 cents...   Cool

Thanks for the solutions offered.

Few days ago i managed to install a DGB wallet onto my phone and convert the seed onto the wallet, and it showed my DGB's.
I have a second Ledger S that i use for bulk only, and transferred batches of 30k to it, wich worked. I now have my funds retrieved  Cheesy

Would be great if they would increase in value, instead of going down every day...  Roll Eyes

its hard to keep faith in DGB this way... Undecided

Yeah, ban things because people are being stupid. Good bye cars, internet, food, water, life.

No, no no, you miss the point...
On cars, internet, food and water, the government can sucker you with taxes; the money goes to them.

With crypto, they are just poor and not taxable, so they have to regulate it or they wont be able to get your money anymore...

hi there,
Can anyone help me recovering my DGB funds?
I have my 24 word seed, and i need a DGB wallet that is BIP39/44 compatible. I tried some, but they dont seem to accept my seed. natuarally, i'm a noob in this as i've never done this....
I tried the windows wallet at digibyte.io, but i cant fill my 24 word recovery in there...
Tried the coinomi android wallet, but it needs a recovery phrase (Huh) and a bip39 recovery phrase, and gives an error when i fill my 24 words (with a space inbetween) in the bip one..

It is very likely that i do something stupidly wrong...
Can anyone guide me into the correct direction?

Thanks.

ps. Can i use a bitcoin wallet using this seed, and will it recover my digibytes automatically then, or do i need a specific digibyte-only wallet? My ledger only gave me one seed...

Actually..... I don't care anymore.

I'm gaining more and more stash. We'll see what it does. if it goes to zero and dies, it was a hell of a experience. Everything is paid for, no losses and no gains. If it doesn't... Wellllll, then i'm working on my early retirement right now, and save the major bulk for the homes of my children to give them a great headstart compared  to the rest of the masses, and start a easy life with less stress.
Best gift you can give your kids. Wink
Just nitpicking here, but don't spoil them too hard. Lots of rich dumbasses walking this world who never learned the joys of overcoming challenges. Can adapt challenges to fit one's lifestyle and net worth, but just throwing around handouts generally doesn't help. Otherwise solid post.

You are absolutely right. I tought them well and they respect money and the effort it takes to aquire it. Its just that when you CAN give it to them, it makes life so much more easy, and being able to focus the big picture. But yes, you preach a very wise lesson that many forget.
I started early by saving money for each when they were born to be able to pay for their studies, and they make use of it, (without having to start their career with a huge debt) and are very grateful i did. I truly love my kids, and they get to grow up to being responsible adults. Mission almost acomplished..😊 (and yes, they make me proud to be their dad..😎) Lets hope they will change my diapers in return when needed...😁😁

A couple more months at this price levels and we will witness a bunch of bankruptcies in the crypto market: Miners manufacturers, mining operators, ICO's... It may be better in the long run, but it will be hard to watch nevertheless.

So true  Cheesy

i'm buying miners, and currently opening a 2nd location. I don't pay much for them, as there are plenty for sale. Also keeping enough structure to add more if the come available for a good price... Smiley

Expensive? It’s free and open source.

From electrum.org/#download

"As a service provider, Electrum charges transaction fees for sending bitcoin. The default fee is a flat rate of 0.2 mBTC. This rate can be reduced to 0.1 mBTC* or even lower in some cases."

All I know is I'm gonna start selling everything I own if we get down to $1k.
And when buying? After we hit 10K LoL Roll Eyes

I was under the assumption that he meant his car, house, dog, wife, kids, etcetera, in order to buy as much BTC as possible... I wasn't scaled down in intelligence to even be capable of thinking that he might have meant his amount of BTC....  Cheesy Cheesy

You could try using electrum with your ledger nano device. DO NOT PUT THE SEED ON YOUR COMPUTER THOUGH (yet) download and install electrum from electrum.org/#download.
Open electrum and select that you want to connect a hardware device (I think it's comparible with the ledger, but i've never tried it). See if that does anything to help.

There's an electrum litecoin too but I'm not sure how reliable it is.

Thanks,

Never heard of it but it looks very well. (tad expensive though..)

my btc problem seems to be solved for now, but its a great soiution to point my miners at and bulk the earnings to my Nano-s

Error; adress is not a LTC adress... WTF??? Its the adress generated by the BULKledger, copy-pasted!

[...]

So i wondered... Lets try with BTC... And ohno!! Same shit! It states that the adress is not a valid BTC adress, even thouh also this adress is generated by the BULKledger!

To be honestly.. i don't believe this.

Address verification is a pretty simple process which either works always or never.
It is hard to believe that the software 'somehow' isn't able to verify addresses properly.

Please post the addresses here, for us to see if it is a proper address and whether it gets accepted by a nano s (to verify your claims).

Also, what OS and what versions of software are you running ?

Today i had contact wth ledger and they verified the adresses. They dont understand either, as both adesses are legit and correct. I sent them a screenshot, and they are working on it (i hope)

in regards of the XRP wallet they said that its a XRP thing that each wallet has to cointain at least 20XRP wich you cant withdraw. It seems like a sort of fee for the wallet. I really never heard of this nor ever read anything about it. Keep it in mind when opening a random xrp wallet somewhere.

so.... Pitty you dont believe it instead of helping out, but its true i'm afraid...

ledger and live latest versions, and windows 10.

ps. Yesterday i installed the ledger chrome apps of litecoin, xrp,  and btc. These apps were able (although chunked into little parts) to transfer the litecoin XRP, and bitcoin amounts.
Digibyte however still doesnt work.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Trouble sending coins from my ledger nano on: December 05, 2018, 10:29:17 PM
Hello,
lately i experience a lot of trouble (and a horrible support from Ledger) with my Nano S.

First, the synchronising takes like forever. i've been synchrionising for over 2 weeks, and some funds do not want to update. Ledger support says there are too many small transactions made and it needs to synchronise these transactions.

So, i thoughtthe solution would be a second ledger, where i keep mij bulk coins.

I tried to send coins from my ledger1 to my bulk ledger. My XRP went okay. First tried 20, witch went okay, and after this i tried the remaining 500 XRP. (499.5 actually) Keeps giving error that funds are not sufficient (i had 520) Tried 100 and nope. I rebooted my computer, and sent 249 and 250 without a problem.

Next, i try to send my litecoins from ledger1 to bulk. Start with .1 LTC. Error; adress is not a LTC adress... WTF??? Its the adress generated by the BULKledger, copy-pasted!
So, i did a reboot again, butnit stays the same.

So i wondered... Lets try with BTC... And ohno!! Same shit! It states that the adress is not a valid BTC adress, even thouh also this adress is generated by the BULKledger!

Well, maybe it generated a wrong adress, who knows.
So; i try my wallet adress from cryptopia, litecoin and bitcoin, but nope; it keeps tellingme that these adresses are not litecoin and bitcoin adresses as well.

Long story short: my coins are stuck in my ledger!

Anyone got these experiences too?
Any tips or advice?  How to retrieve my coins?

As of right now, i dont trust my ledger device anymore!

Reason i ask here, is that ledger quit the chat support, and takes days to answer a Email, and the answer you get in return could be from a 9year old as well...

Don't worry, BTC is not going so low. My prediction is that December will be a real struggle, afterwards, the price will begin to recover, whales would probably use mass media to pump the price by consecutive good news.
There's the old investment wisdom, saying you should sell when you hear about an investment at your hairdresser (sorry, I can't find a literal quote to add as a reference). At the end of last year, one of my nieces wanted to buy Bitcoin. That would have been the perfect cue to sell!
There's another old investment wisdom: "the time to buy is when there's blood in the streets" (Rothschild), "even if the blood is your own". Currently, the "Bitcoin is dead" news is stronger than I've ever seen. Based on this old investment wisdom, that would make it the time to buy now.

Note: I don't give investment advice, I'm not buying, I'm not selling. I'm just enjoying the ride up, crying the ride down Tongue

If i recall correct, it was actually Rockefeller who said it, not the rothchild(s)
